NOCO GEN1 On-Board Marine Battery Charger Diagram

The rugged NOCO Genius GEN1 on-board smart charger quickly charges and maintains a 12-volt lead-acid battery. The battery bank efficiently charges deep cycle and starter batteries up to 230 amp-hours. It's great for boats, trolling motors, generators, and a wide range of electric vehicles and industrial equipment. With a fully submersible design, the GEN1 was built to handle harsh marine environments, while keeping your batteries in peak condition.

Multi-Stage Smart Charging Technology

The NOCO GEN1 smart charger uses an 8-stage charging cycle to quickly and efficiently charge your battery. This ensures that the battery safely reaches maximum capacity without being overcharged.

NOCO GEN1 Genius Battery Charger Advanced Smart Charging Technology

In the first step of the charging process, the charger will analyze the battery's condition and state of charge. The charger then uses this data to diagnose the battery's health and ensure it can be safely charged. If the battery is deeply discharged or sulfated, the charger will automatically enter the recovery stage to repair the battery by pulsing small amounts of current.

Once the unit has determined that the battery's condition is stable, it will initialize the charging process by providing a constant, gentle charge. The charger gradually increases the charge during the bulk stage and quickly charges the battery to 80-percent capacity.

As the battery nears full charge, the GEN1 enters the absorption stage and delivers small amounts of current to limit battery gassing and safely bring the battery to 90-percent capacity. The charger will then begin optimization of the battery, bringing it to full capacity and optimizing it for increased run time and performance.

The final step of the charging process, maintenance, monitors the battery for drops in power and supplies the correct current to keep it fully charged. If a drop in voltage is detected, the charger will begin the optimization cycle to keep the battery fully charged.

Heavy-Duty Eyelet Connectors

NOCO GEN1 Heavy-Duty Eyelets

A set of 3/8" eyelets connect the GEN1 to your battery. Over-molded connection point stands up to heavy usage and keeps connections safe from the elements. Built-in 15-amp fuse protects each connection against dangerous overcurrent.

Quickly Charge and Maintain Batteries from 120VAC Power Source

NOCO GEN1 AC Plug for Wall Outlet Charging

The GEN1 plugs into an available wall outlet to quickly charge and maintain your battery. High-frequency switch-mode technology converts AC power into safe DC power to fully charge batteries. An onboard microcomputer monitors and controls this charging process to minimize power loss and maximize efficiency. Included hardware lets you mount the unit in an enclosed compartment, garage, or workspace.

NOCO GEN1 On-board Battery Charger Charging Times Diagram

The table above provides a quick reference for how long it will take the GEN1 to charge batteries with various amp-hours.

Rugged Submersible Design

NOCO GEN1 Waterproof and Ignition Proof Design

The GEN1 was built to handle extreme marine conditions. The unit has an IP68 rating, which means it can handle being fully submerged in water, and it's protected against solid particles like dust or sand. Its ignition protected for safe and worry-free operation around marine engine compartments and fuel tank spaces. Saltwater won't cause issues either. The charger has been thoroughly tested to resist corrosion.

The housing is made from tough Lexan resin that protects the internal electronics against vibration and impacts. The unit can handle being dropped, kicked over, and just about anything else your day brings.

AC Port Plug for Plug-and-Play Charging

NOCO GEN1 GCP AC Port Accessory

Available AC port plugs (sold separately) from NOCO let you easily setup your GEN1 charger for plug-and-play charging with any extension cord. The plug creates a "pass through" AC charging port on a surface, so you can quickly connect to the charger when it's mounted inside a compartment on a truck, boat, trailer or RV. This allows you to easily access the charger for charging engine block heaters, trolling motors, batteries, and other equipment. A snap-fit cap creates a watertight seal to protect the connection whenever you're done.

  • Troubleshooting NOCO Genius On-Board Battery Charger
The NOCO Genius On-Board Battery Charger - 1-Bank - 10 Amp # 329-GEN1 appears to be working correctly unless you also have the error LED lit. It simply may be showing that your battery is not holding the charge so it is constantly charging. I recommend testing your battery prior to replacing the charger.

  • What Is the Amp Hour Capacity When Combining Two Six Volt Batteries In Series
The voltage will double when connecting batteries in series but the amp hour capacity will remain the same. Therefore, if you connect two 6 volt batteries in series with a 250 amp hour capacity then the voltage output will be 12 but the amp hour capacity will remain at 250. In order to double amp hour capacity you would need to connect two 12 volt batteries in parallel as the voltage would remain at 12 but the amp hour capacity would double. In regards to charging, you can charge both...

  • How to Charge Two 6V Batteries Wired in Series
In order to connect your two 6 volt 220Ah batteries together in series I recommend using a minimum of 4 gauge wire on each terminal. In order to charge the batteries you can use either a 6 volt or 12 volt battery charger, it all just depends on how you want to charge them. If you want to charge both together then you will need to use the battery charger in 12 volt mode (if applicable) and at the end of the series. If you want to charge each battery separately then you will need to use the...

  • Why is Truck Battery Draining With Trailer Plug Disconnected
There could be many reasons why your truck's battery is draining when the trailer's electrical plug is disconnected. However, only one has to do with the trailer causing the issue. If your vehicle battery maintains its charge when the trailer is NOT plugged in, this would point to a rather unusual situation where your trailer battery is actually grounding through the gooseneck coupler and passing the current through the ball and eventually to the frame of your tow vehicle. Check both...

  • Can Umbilical Between Motorhome and Flat Towed Vehicle Be Used to Charge Vehicle Battery
You can certainly do that. You'll want to be sure to wire the pin on the vehicle side to correspond with the 12-v power supply pin on the 6-way motorhome trailer connector however. Some 6-ways use the center pin as the brake controller output, some use it as the 12-volt power feed, so you'll want to ensure both sides are wired the same way. Yes, it is possible to use a 12 volt deep cycle marine battery on a trailer to power lights, fans, etc. That said, you will need to combine the amp draw rating of all accessories and then subtract this from the amp hour rating of the battery to make sure you have have enough power. However, most fans and lights don't require much power so you should be alright so long as you are mindful. The Optronics Flexible LED Light Strip part # UCL90CB for example only draws 2.7 amps. • Will 12 Volt Feed from 7-Way on Tow Vehicle Overcharge Trailer Auxiliary Battery
It's impossible for your trailer-mounted auxiliary battery to be overcharged by the vehicle battery via the 12 volt feed on the 7-way since it only passes through a low current trickle-type charge. In fact, this is only enough for a maintenance charge - if your trailer battery is completely depleted, this method of battery charging will not provide a full re-charge.
