The smart converter charger converts AC shore power into DC power and uses a multistage charging system to charge your battery bank. If your RV already has a stock converter charger, it will need to be removed to ensure this unit operates properly.
Using a multistage charging system, the converter charger automatically switches voltages while the battery bank charges. This accelerates the charge, but also helps extend battery life by adjusting the voltage during the different modes. This charger is compatible with flooded lead acid and AGM batteries only. Do not use gel cell batteries as they can be damaged by the higher voltages of this charger.
The system includes a number of safety features. It has a reverse polarity protection that will protect the converter if the battery is hooked up incorrectly. It has short circuit protection as well, which limits the current and reduces the output until the short has been fixed. Additionally, the over current protection includes cycle-by-cycle peak limiting and rated current limiting. The built-in cooling fan also removes excess heat from the unit. The fan speed is proportional to the internal temperature on the converter, so the fan will turn on and off slowly to minimize noise.
The smart converter charger mounts inside your RV in a dry location with ventilation. The DC output terminals wire to the battery bank. The AC in cord plugs into a 120V 3-wire grounded source.

Speaker 1: Today, we're going to take a look at the Go-Power 12 volt 100 amp smart battery charger. This smart battery charger will quickly charge your RVs battery. It uses state-of-the-art converter switch mode technology, so this battery charger's reliable, compact, and it's lightweight. It's designed specifically to extend the life of deep cycle battery banks.For your RV system, it does feature high continuous output to feed your 12 volt loads when plugged into shore power. It's a nice, compact, lightweight design. It does have switchable output nodes for low charging and rapid charging.
It does have a built in four stage charger. It uses automatic equalization stage to periodically boost the charged batteries. Charged circuit, reverse polarity protection, also overload protection.Back here, if I spin it around, you can see it has a thermostatically controlled fan, and in the front it also has fuse protection. You can see the four 40 amp fuses right here. It's very easy to install, you just connect your battery cables right here on this end, and on the other end you have your 30 inch long AC cord that you'll plug in.Battery types this works with is 12 volt AGM or flooded lead acid batteries.
Output voltage is 13.6 volts DC, output amperage is 100 amps. Input voltage range is 105 volts to 135 volts AC and maximum power output is 1400 watts.Weight on this is right at about five pounds. Few dimensions I want to give you. We're going to measure the width. It's going to be from mounting tabs to mounting tabs, so the widest part is going to be at seven and three quarters inches wide.
The length on it, again the furthest point from here to right here, you're going to right at nine and three quarters inches long, and the depth of it, or height of it, is going to be right at three and a half inches.It does come with this nice owners manual that will describe how to hook everything up and how it operates. Just to go over on each end, you can see right here is your DC out terminals, that's where your battery cables will connect. Again, we mentioned the four, 40 amp, fuses for protection. A status light right here and the ground terminal right there. Works great, a little loud sometimes, but we knew that in advance. Has been a great addition to our van and travels. We often try to camp dispersed, but when we have power, it's great to have the converter and be able to recharge our batteries, especially if low solar gain is in play. We love it.

Shipping finally made it. I asked how it would be shipped you said either UPS or Fed Ex not USPS. You shipped it mail.. We do not have home delivery so it must go to the PO Box, different address than our street address.It went to 2 Post Offices Fortunatly our Post Office folks know us and they were able to get the package to us Please check instructions before shipping. So far so good. Replaced an older 55 amp converter that stopped functioning. This will be hooked to shore power permanently and power all DC components, as well as charge the battery bank in a shower trailer. Hopefully it lasts!
