2015 Toyota Corolla - Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms

  • Removable Drawbars
  • Roadmaster
  • Twist Lock Attachment

Designed for use with motor-home-mounted tow bars, the direct-connect brackets are virtually invisible, easy to mount and remove, and they eliminate the need for a quick-disconnect crossbar on your tow bar. Installs on your Toyota Corolla's frame.

Features:

  • Direct-connect brackets provide attachment points for your motor-home-mounted tow bar
  • Streamlined design creates supremely clean look
    • No obtrusive quick-disconnect crossbar
    • Hidden brackets sit even farther back than standard brackets
  • Drawbars attach and remove quickly and easily
    • Arms click to lock in place in brackets
    • Built-in pull rings let you unlock arms so you can twist and remove them
  • Computer-cut, all-steel construction provides exceptional strength
  • Black powder coat finish is durable and corrosion resistant
  • Simple installation - no welding required
    • Custom base plates ensure a perfect fit for your vehicle
  • Compatible with Roadmaster motor-home-mounted tow bars only
  • Instructions and mounting hardware included
  • Made in the USA
  • Limited Lifetime Warranty

Note: Roadmaster direct-connect base plates will only work with Roadmaster tow bars that slide into a trailer hitch, such as the Nighthawk, Sterling, Blackhawk, Blackhawk 2, Falcon, or Falcon 2. These base plates will not work with tow bars that require a hitch ball.

The drawbars, or front arms, on this base plate kit are supremely easy to mount and remove. Just insert them into the brackets and twist to lock them in place. To remove each arm, simply tug the built-in pull pin to disengage the lock, twist the arm back and pull it out of the bracket. Once the drawbars have been removed, the remaining brackets are virtually invisible. On most automobiles, the brackets are mounted within the grille, where they remain not only unseen, but protected from scrapes and scuffs as well.

Ordered quite a few items from etrailer for my RV and Flat tow setup. Excellent shipping times and email follow ups. 5 Stars for etrailer. Road Master base plate gets 4 stars just because quality control lacks a bit. Works good but one of the tubes for the removable arms was welded about 5 degrees off level so I have had troubles detaching the non binding tow bar

I did the install myself. The instructions are easy to follow and there was also an online video of installation for my car.(Toyota Corolla).

Perfect fit and so easy to install myself. Just need some precaution not to scratch the bumper cover.

2016 ToyotaCorolla

It does what I needed it to do and it was easy to install on my 2016 Corolla.

by:

A little tough to drill side holes in frame, but worked well.

This is a rock solid baseplate. Installed on a 2023 Equinox LT (AWD). I followed etrailer's videos for installation and they are spot on. We connect with a Roadmaster Nighthawk tow bar, charge line kit, smart diode lighting kit, and a Demco Stay-in-Play supplimental braking system. It is fairly well hidden when not in-use. This setup is great!

by:

This kit worked out great for my 2022 Chevy Equinox. I like how it has separate side plates, which make it easier to attach the main bar. The points where it attaches to the frame seem plenty secure. It is important to watch the videos provided by etrailer as Ryan is very thorough and has good tips for installing. I would also recommend installing additional wiring while having the front end off. Overall, I was able to complete in my driveway. The hardest part was sorting out the wiring for whatever braking and tail lights you decide on. William S helped me pick all the necessary components needed for flat towing behind my Jayco RV. I am looking forward to a summer of camping and having more freedom to explore the area, now having a car.

The base plate arrived on time, with excellent instructions. I went slowly because my truck is only days old and still had it done in an evening.

Its been a year, and we have gone alot of miles, flat land and through the mountains. I really like the system, it was a good purchase and easy install.

This base plate kit is excellent. The install was easy. I like the removable arms because you can remove them when not needed. The RM-521447-5 was a great fit for my 2017 Jeep Cherokee Latitude 4 wheel drive.

by:

Well made, easy to install (provided you use one of etrailer's videos to install it!), non obtrusive. Fits well on my Jeep Wrangler. Just an overall great product!

by:

This particular base plate requires drilling 2 holes in the bumper and expanding 2 holes already there. Expanding the holes was not that much of a problem but the 2 new holes was a major pain. Had to go through 6 different drill bits. I would get the other base plate that only requires expanding 2 holes. But once I got those holes drilled out it went better. Plus one of the shims was a little long and had to grind it down to fit.

by:

Just finished installing your baseplate on my 2019 equinox redline. Excellent instructions, perfect fit and three day fast delivery. Very happy. I am 73 and will really enjoy the quick connect arms. Thank you etrailer

by:

Super solid and love the quick connect pin designs. Has the integrated tow chain attachment point.

by:

This is not a real easy thing for do it yourselfer. However with the resources provided, if you are ok using tools and are able to watch a video showing step by step you and can do this. The base plate and towing system has been perfect.

Have towed approx 10,000 miles and it’s working perfectly.

etrailer.com site was easy to use and place my order, plus it arrived on time.
The base plate fits perfectly on my 2021 Nissan Versa. I had the Road Master Falcon 2 set up on my motor home towing a 1999 Toyota Solara and it was time to get a new Toad. After a lot of searching we settled on the Versa and I will say that the base plate fits perfectly and looks great with and W/O the "ready to tow" set-up installed. I would recommend Road Master to anyone looking for a cost effective 4 wheel down set-up.

Comments
Still working great. The only thing I wish I could get is “plugs or covers” that go in the holes on the “baseplate” that are exposed after you remove the tow setup components.

Well made, easy install following the instruction sheet and etrailer's video. The only problem is that they recommended a 9/16 drill bit which was hard to find for a 3/8 drill and the one that I did buy for $18 would not drill the holes. I ended up using a good 1/2 drill bit that I had and the holes were fine. Installed on 2022 Wrangler.

Still working great after a year and 4,000 miles.

Perfect fitment and easy installation. Worked out great with our aftermarket bumper. Had to make small modifications but couldn’t be happier. Did a 4500 mile trip right after and paired up great with the falcon 2! I couldn’t believe how fast the shipping was! Thank you etrailer!

by:

After receiving the package, reading up and watching a few videos. Installing them was a breeze. Minor trimming on the grill as my truck did not have tow hooks, and trimmed the inside bumper mount, on the bottom of the baseplate slot.

So far so good

Installers beware! I had a very difficult time with this base plate kit because of a mid-2022 redesign by Roadmaster that makes it very challenging to install.

Roadmaster added a tang on top of each base plate to supply additional bracing of the unit against the bumper core. It requires installing two additional bolts and spacers on the upper mount in an area where there isn't easy access due to bracing. This has not been reflected in the picture of the part on etrailer nor is it included in any of the installation videos. The Roadmaster instruction text says to remove the existing bolts from the bumper horn and then reinstall them but with the needed spacers and the set-back of the upper mounts on the redesigned base plate the bolts aren't long enough. I guess to compensate RM supplied two new bolts as seen in the drawing. The problem is, the supplied bolts aren't the correct thread pitch. The RM supplied bolts are metric 1.5 but the welded nut on the Cherokee is 1.25 thread pitch thus requiring a trip to the hardware store to get the proper bolts. Then, when trying to install them you don't have clear access due to bracing. You're trying to hold a spacer in place, using an extension with a universal joint and the socket to get the bolt started. To make matters worse, the upper mount bolt holes on one of the base plates didn't align with the jeep because the tang wasn't at the right height. I had to use a crow bar and a lot of effort to slightly bend up the heavy steel tang to get it to mate up. To top it all off one of the arms was locked in the receiver and wouldn't budge. I had to resort to using a breaker bar inserted in the arm end and a mallet to slowly get the arm to even rotate in the receiver. After much effort I eventually got it to rotate as it should in the receiver and then managed to extract it. When I got it out it was badly scored from the rough welding detritus way down in the receiving tube (see photo attached). I used a file to clear the tube and now it works properly but you have to ask where was the quality control when this arm was inserted in the receiver tube? It had to be obvious that it wasn't going in properly.
All in all I was extremely disappointed with the amount of effort and time I had to put into what should have been a straightforward installation. The redesign makes the job take at least twice as long as it should have.

I bought and self installed this on my 2021 GMC Sierra Duramax 1 year ago. Install took about 5 hours and wasn't difficult...I could problty install it in 2-3 hours after leaening the tricks. Weve towed the truck all over the USA since then (over 10,0000 miles) and it works great! I've used other brands and highly recommend Roadmaster tow systems over the competition.

by:

Just received my base plate and installed. Really satisfied about the look on my 2020 Ford F150.

by:

The instruction videos were a huge help. Installation was pretty straight forward. Unfortuanely my jeep didn't have a couple of holes pre-drilled for mounting the base plate to the frame. But that situation was covered in the video.

by:

Pluses: Product is well made and fits the car. Looks like a durable powder coat finish. Lock in tow bar connectors fit well and lock in well. The base plate is nicely concealed with the connectors removed. I would rate the product itself at 4.5 stars. Negatives: The small plate welded to the cross bar to attach the breakaway switch did not work with the switches that I had. The instructions are not well written and would rate 2 stars. The video that etrailer has on line for an older model was a great help for this project; wish they had one for a 2023 Traverse. The Roadmaster instructions say 3 hours to install; figure on more like 8 to 10 if you have not done one before, and you will need a lot more tools than what are listed.

Easy instructions to follow and all parts fit perfectly. Been towing behind our Motorhome for 1 year with no problems. The Roadmaster EZ5 is a great towing system. Keep up the good work.

  • Recommended Components To Flat Tow 2014 Toyota Corolla Behind A Motorhome.
I can certainly make some recommendations that will work for you. When flat towing you need base plates on the towed vehicle, a tow bar, safety cables, lighting for the towed vehicle and most states now require a supplemental brake system. If you have a manual transmission in your Corolla I recommend the RoadMaster EZ5 Base Plate Kit, part # RM-521194-5. This has removable arms that make the brackets almost invisible when the arms are removed. The tow bar you referenced, the Falcon,...
