Roadmaster Base Plates - 1541-5

  • Removable Drawbars
  • Roadmaster
  • Hitch Pin Attachment

Designed specifically for heavy-duty applications, direct-connect brackets install onto your vehicle's frame to provide attachment points for a motor-home-mounted tow bar. Front arms are easily removable when not in use.

  • Hidden bracket design - drawbars are easily removable via 2 pins
  • Computer-cut, all-steel construction provides exceptional strength
  • Black powder coat finish is durable and corrosion resistant
  • Simple installation - no welding
    • Custom base plates ensure a perfect fit for your vehicle
  • No crossbar needed - faster hookup and sleeker appearance
    • Crossbar not required because these direct-connect base plates are designed for strong, heavy-duty applications
  • Compatible with all Roadmaster tow bars that slide into trailer hitch receivers
  • Instructions and mounting hardware included
  • Made in the USA
  • Limited Lifetime Warranty

Note: Direct-connect base plates will work only with the Roadmaster tow bars that slide into a trailer hitch, such as the Nighthawk, Sterling, Blackhawk, Blackhawk 2, Falcon, and Falcon 2. These base plates will not work with tow bars that require a hitch ball.

Direct-connect brackets do not require a crossbar because of the heavy-duty nature of your vehicle's frame. Thus, installation is simplified, the hookup process is faster, and the total appearance is enhanced.

Note: The EZ Hook safety cables included with Roadmaster's Sterling tow bars will not work with direct-connect base plates. These cables connect to an anchor plate on the Quick Disconnect crossbar, which will not be present when you are using these base plates.

The drawbars, or front arms, on the direct-connect base plate kit are simple to mount and remove, easily securing with pins. Once the drawbars have been removed, the remaining brackets are virtually invisible. On most automobiles, the brackets are mounted within the grille, where they remain not only unseen, but protected from scrapes and scuffs as well.

2004 Honda CR-V

Excellent service -- ordered online afternoon of July 13; shipped same day and arrived two days later. etrailer video was helpful in outlining steps for installation - especially fascia removal prior to actual install. Installation took about 3 1/2 hours which includes fascia/grill removal and reinstall. Did need to secure additional fender clips to reinstall fascia - many broke during removal as almost 20 years old -- available aftermarket from Dorman. Order arrived correct with all parts/no damage. Fit was excellent. Will order from etrailer again

Have towed a 2004 Honda CRV with this base plate installed for about 8,000 miles since installation. All nuts are still tight on bolts. Had to shave one of the finger grips on my 4-way electric cable as the mounting bracket on the base plate was 1 inch too close to the license plate mounting bracket. Other than that quick fix, product is performing as expected.

2004 Honda Element

I originally purchased a Blue Ox baseplate to install since I already had a tow bar. Upon removing the front grill, I was surprised to find the used Element I had purchased already had the front bumper caps removed and 2 braces installed. Thanks to the photos on etrailer reviews and product info, I was able to determine that the vehicle had previously had a roadmaster baseplate installed! I purchased this unit and it fit perfectly onto the already installed braces. Seems very solid and high-quality so far.

Perfect fit. Very easy installation.

2008 Honda Element

Perfect fit for my 2008 Honda Element SC Automatic! There were questions of whether this model was flat towable or not? After researching the heck out of it, I took the chance and I use the Honda 2005 flat tow instructions from the owners manual of that year (there were no engine or tranny changes from 2005 to 2008 that I could see). Perfect! I've now towed my Element over 500 miles without issue. This baseplate and instructions are great. I already had the Roadmaster Falcon 2 tow bar. I use the invsibrake system for the toad brake and love that also.

2005 Honda Element

Excellent product. Easy to install on my 2005 Honda Element. Didn't have to cut anything on the frame or the grill fascia. Went with the Roadmaster over the Blue Ox because it is a less conspicuous baseplate and it wasn't necessary to alter any of the frame/metal on the car. I have a Blue Ox tow bar so I also had to have an adapter kit to hook the two together. was very helpful getting me the correct parts I needed. Their customer service is A+++.
I have attached 'before' and 'after' pictures (I think). I cut the electrical mount and a few tabs off of the baseplate to give it a cleaner look. I will hide the wires behind the grill and bring them out when in use. Also purchased a few plastic caps to cover tubes.

I use this tow bar on a 2005 Element, it has been great so far towing many short trips and two longer trips over 4000 miles. Even hitting some really bad roads in Kentucky where I was surprised to see the car still attached!

The base plate was perfect for my 2003 CRV tow vehicle. William was very helpful and professional on the phone. I installed it myself in about 3 hours. On line videos are available to clarify instructions. The lighting kit was even easier. Ill be ordering the braking unit next. Thanks guys.

2006 Honda Element

Easy installation. I watched the video a couple of times and read the PDF instructions before my order arrived. When my order arrived I verified that I had all of the parts and in an hour and a half the base plate was on and project completed. I didn't need to trim my grill at all and it looks great.

We mounted this base plate on our Honda CRV and went on a 5000 mile trip while towing our car. The base plate worked great and we had no issues. I really like the removable arm feature. It makes for a clean look when removed.

2003 Honda Element

Excelent service and follow through.

The Roadmaster tow bar mounts were easy to install and fit great. They worked without fail up to Alaska and Canada over 10K miles.
Also the tail light wiring kit made for an easy install.
I installed both products myself, but in fairness I am a former ASE cert mechanic.

The Roadmaster tow bar mounts are holding up great and we are still towing on them.

2004 Honda CR-V

All parts were in the box, relatively easy to install. Very well built product.

2004 Honda Element

Honda Element

Great information. Quick delivery. Easy installation. Pulled Honda Element 4500 miles last summer and baseplate performed well.

2003 Honda CR-V

It fit perfect. I was surprised that I didn't have to cut the grill. Everything lined up and made it so easy to install.

Works perfect I have towed my CRV over 15,000 miles

2003 Honda CR-V

The product was well packaged, came on time, and installed perfectly. The installation instructions were clear and easy to follow.

2005 Honda Element

  • Is the Falcon 5250 Tow Bar Compatible with the Roadmaster Base Plates 1541-5 for a 2002 Honda CR-V
Yes, the Roadmaster MX Base Plate Kit # 1541-5 that you referenced is what you will want to use with your Roadmaster Falcon 5250 tow bar for your 2002 Honda CR-V. Keep in mind that a complete flat towing setup includes the base plate kit and tow bar, as well as safety cables, tow bar wiring, a supplemental braking system, and possibly a high-low adapter. If you need any of these components for your CR-V let me know and I can make some recommendations.

  • Is There A Replacement Hardware Kit Available To Transfer A Roadmaster Baseplate To Another Vehicle
Baseplates are intended to only be used on one vehicle and to be considered compromised after removal from the first vehicle so the safest option would be to replace the entire Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # 1541-5. You can try reaching out to Roadmaster to see if they have a replacement hardware kit but they'll likely tell you the same thing.

The difference between the Roadmaster XL Base Plates # 1541-1 and the MX base plates # 1541-5 is tow bar compatibility. The XL plates are compatible with all Roadmaster tow bars while the MX plates work only with the Roadmaster tow bars that slide into a trailer hitch, such as the Sterling, Blackhawk, Blackhawk 2, Falcon and Falcon 2. The MX base plates will not work with tow bars that require a hitch ball. Your Falcon All Terrain tow bar # RM-522 will work with either base plate.

The Roadmaster MX Base Plates # 1541-5 that are confirmed to fit your 2005 Honda Element does not require you to cut or alter any of the steel frame of your vehicle. The base plates will bolt to the vehicle using existing holes. The only modification will be needed will be on the bumper fascia to allow the tow arms to connect to the base plates. • Can I Flat Tow a 2007 Honda Element LX with FWD and Automatic Transmission
I looked through some of my resources and from what I'm able to find the 2007 Honda Element LX with FWD and automatic transmission must be towed on a tow dolly with the front wheels up. This is very common for FWD vehicles with automatic transmissions that do not have the ability to disconnect the front drive shaft.
