Note: Roadmaster direct-connect base plates will only work with Roadmaster tow bars that slide into a trailer hitch, such as the Nighthawk, Sterling, Blackhawk, Blackhawk 2, Falcon, or Falcon 2. These base plates will not work with tow bars that require a hitch ball.
The drawbars, or front arms, on this base plate kit are supremely easy to mount and remove. Just insert them into the brackets and twist to lock them in place. To remove each arm, simply tug the built-in pull pin to disengage the lock, twist the arm back and pull it out of the bracket. Once the drawbars have been removed, the remaining brackets are virtually invisible. On most automobiles, the brackets are mounted within the grille, where they remain not only unseen, but protected from scrapes and scuffs as well.

Katherine B at etrailer was very helpful in assuring the tow plate was the part I needed. The tow plate arrived in a few days and I installed it myself. It was an easy installation. The tow plate is sturdy and well built and fits nicely under the front bumper. Thank you etrailer and especially Katherine B. Now I have to decide on the type of braking system for my towed Jeep.

Installed on a 1999 Jeep Wrangler TJ. Had to drill a couple of holes. Get high quality bits, drill pilot holes first and it is not a problem. Has performed solid with no issues. The twist in locks make it quick and easy to connect when hooking up toad.
thought the over all designee and quality of the base plate is great, your shipping of the part was not to the standard I was expecting and resulted in one of the safety tabs getting bent a bit see photos. not a major problem but not what I expected from etrailer
At first I was a little nervous about undertaking this project, but after I started I realized it wasn’t as complicated as I thought. It is important to completely read the instruction and follow them. One thing I eventually did was remove the bumper and the plastic cowling with the word JEEP stamped on it. For me anyway, this made the installation much easier. I didn’t realize it at first, but a screw that held the cowling in place was actually interfering with lining up the base plate and as soon as I removed the cowling the base plate just about fell into it’s proper place. It’s really not a difficult job and doesn’t require a lot of tools, however, be sure to know which tools you will need and make sure you have them on hand. Ordering the Base Plate for my 2004 Jeep Wrangler TJ was easy and quick, the staff I spoke with were knowledgeable and helpful. And, the Base Plate was delivered in just a few days.

What a difference this base plate makes! Brackets remove easily and works like s charm! Great product- my 2006 TJ Jeep is happy& I am as well. We have a few thousand miles of towing on it and still perfect!
The quick connect pins on this base plate were easy to use and made hooking up and unhooking a breeze. The base plate was easy to install on our 1999 Jeep Wrangler. Worked great with the tow bar we chose.

Great to deal with you. Parts arrived as stated. Got it installed. Only problem was getting the steering box lined up properly. Took it loose when I removed the old brackets.
