Designed for use with motorhome-mounted tow bars, direct-connect brackets eliminate the need for a crossbar on your tow bar. Front arms are easily removable for a streamlined look when not in use. Installs on your Chevrolet Avalanche's frame.
Features:
Direct-connect brackets do not require a quick-disconnect crossbar because of the heavy-duty nature of your vehicle's frame. Thus, installation is simplified, the hookup process is faster, and the total appearance is enhanced.
The drawbars, or front arms, on this direct-connect base plate kit are simple to mount and remove, easily securing with pins. Once the drawbars have been removed, the remaining brackets offer a streamlined look. On most automobiles, the brackets are mounted within the grille, where they remain not only unseen, but protected from scrapes and scuffs as well.
Note: The EZ Hook safety cables included with Roadmaster's Sterling tow bars will not work with these direct-connect base plates and require crossbar-style base plates instead.

Great product. Fitment on our 2008 Chevy Tahoe was as the instructions suggested. Drilling through the frame was required, and took a little time. The first side I worked on took about 3 hours whereas the 2nd side only took about 1.5 hrs. Very happy with the product. 719311

I had the towing brackets installed on my 08 GMC pickup by my mechanic today. The job only took him a bit under 1 1/2 hrs!! They look great and unlike my previous tow system, I will no longer need the quick disconnect tow bar assembly across the front of the tow vehicle. 268799
Excellent construction. Arrived well packaged and undamaged. Instructions from manufacturer were thorough though a bit dated for more recent late model vehicles. The instructional videos on eTrailer.com were more up to date regarding newer body fascia/ bumper issues. There is a large bolt on the top of the bumper mount on my 2011 Chevy Avalanche LTZ that had to be either ground down or backed out to allow the insertion of the main frame insert. This was not addressed by anyone. I immediately towed my vehicle that weekend approx. 350 miles and everything stayed tight. Hookup to the Roadmaster Blackhawk 2 tow bar was as easy as advertised with no fuss. I do wish the receiver pins were a reduced size to approximate the 1.5 inch size of the removable arms instead of pins that would fit a 2inch receiver. It would be a cleaner look. There is NO perceptible whistle or noise from the empty base plates when driving the vehicle at highway speeds. Having said that, a nice touch would be to include an insert/cover for the empty base plates for appearances. I'm very pleased with the product. There needs to be more information on the product site regarding the selection of the MX baseplate vs. the XL baseplates. It wasn't until I received my products that I understood the differences and the way they attached to the tow bar. 171244

Excellent product. Easy to install on my 2005 Honda Element. Didn't have to cut anything on the frame or the grill fascia. Went with the Roadmaster over the Blue Ox because it is a less conspicuous baseplate and it wasn't necessary to alter any of the frame/metal on the car. I have a Blue Ox tow bar so I also had to have an adapter kit to hook the two together. Etrailer.com was very helpful getting me the correct parts I needed. Their customer service is A+++. I have attached 'before' and 'after' pictures (I think). I cut the electrical mount and a few tabs off of the baseplate to give it a cleaner look. I will hide the wires behind the grill and bring them out when in use. Also purchased a few plastic caps to cover tubes. 436995

Everything lined up nicely - no holes to ream out and no banging on stuff to make it fit. The paper instructions left me unsure about the placement of a bolt, but the video cleared it all up. Our CR-V looks almost stock with the adapters removed. Good product! Entire installation took about two hours. 916856
