Video Transcript for etrailer Ball Mounts - Fixed Ball Mount - EBMK4 Review

Today were going to review part number EBMK4, this is the Etrailer.com Ball Mount Kit for 2-inch hitch receivers. This ball mount kit will include one ball mount, it will include a pin and a clip; it will include Convert-A-Ball Interchangeable Ball System that comes with a 1 7/8-inch hitch ball head and a 2-inch hitch ball head. It will also the Etrailer.com ball mount bag. This kit will be nice to use when youre going to be towing multiple trailers that might have a different coupler size on them.Im going to start with the ball mount. Basically the part number is 2753. And this ball mount will have a 2 -inch rise or a 4-inch drop depending on how you use it. What Im going to do is measure it for you and give you an idea.

This is in the drop position so the measurement would be here to here; the top of this to the top of where the ball sits. So if we put a tape on that, it would measure 4-inch drop. Now if we put a tape on that, it would measure 4-inch drop. Now if you put it in the other way, that will give you a 2 -inch rise which is measured from here to here. So if we measure that it would be 2 of an inch.

Now this ball mount does have a gross towing weight capacity of 6,000 and has a tongue weight capacity of 600 pounds. It also comes with part number PC3 which is a 5/8-inch diameter pin and the clip that would be used to attach the ball mount to the hitch receiver. This would slide into your hitch receiver, you line the holes up, run your pin through, put the clip on; that will keep your ball mount inserted into your hitch receiver.Next item is the converti-ball interchangeable ball system and what that would be is this would mount onto the ball mount using the included washer and nut. The size of this nut is 1 inches. That would tighten down to your ball mount and notice theres a hole through it, you would slide the cotter in through that hole, spread it apart and that would be a safety feature in case that nut happen to back off and keep it from falling off the shank.

Now this shank with the ball attached will have a gross tongue weight capacity of 10,000 pounds. And Im going to give you a few dimensions on the shank. The diameter of the shank which is right here will 1 inch. The length which is from here to here will measure 2 inches. And then this would be, its stamped on top, is the 1 7/8 hitch ball diameter size and this stamped on top would be 2-inch diameter hitch ball size.

And basically the way this would be installed, this has an integrated pin in the ball which what you would do is find the side that has a dimple on it and just push that side and it will allow you to pull this pin all the way out and what youll do is line it up to the shank the hole in the shank push your pin all the way through until its flush and then youll have a 1 7/8-inch hitch ball on your shank. Now if you end up having to tow a different trailer with a larger hitch ball size like a 2-inch, you just remove that, take the 2-inch one, push on the side with the dimple, line it up with the hole, push it all the way until its flush, now you have a 2-inch hitch ball. So in a few seconds you went from a 1 7/8 to a 2-inch.Now the last item I want to talk about is the Etrailer.com Ball Mount Bag part number ETBMB. This durable bag will work great not only for ball mounts but for all your towing equipments such as tie down straps, pins, clips, locks. It has a strong handle, makes it easy to carry and it has a large zipper opening that runs the length of the bag which makes it easier to insert the ball mounts and other large items into the bag. It is made of a durable nylon construction which will provide many years of use. The zipper is a no-hassle zipper closure. It has the handle for transportation and Ill give you a few dimensions on the bag. The overall length will be 16 inches. The height on this bag would be 5 inches and the width on the bag would be 4 inches. And that should do it for part number EBMK4.

Used a few times. Still working fine. the steel balls got rusted relatively quickly. 600801

Because of the metal to metal friction applied to the trailer ball from the inside of the coupler, the chrome plating will be worn away. A thin coat of grease would provide some protection against corrosion.

The hitch, wiring kit, and equipment all arrived in a timely manner. The instructions were very easy to follow, and I was able to get it bolted on with the help of my friend in less than an hour. Wiring instructions were clear and worked just fine. Haven't towed anything to test the ground, but I'm confident it will work great. 426270

WOW! What can I say? Easiest install ever! I called ahead of time and spoke with Katie about what I needed. She confirmed what I wanted would work with my van. I'm in the shipping business. The bar arrived in mint condition in a double wall box with the accessories boxed separately. After removing the hardware, reading the instructions and watching their video online, I went to work. The whole thing took less than 20 mins and I did not have to remove the exhaust. I actually used it to help hold the bar up. It took longer to remove the mud guard and rear body molding than to install. It is heavy, weighing in at about 65lbs but I did not even have to use a jack on the van. I'm very happy with my purchase and can now put bikes on the back of the van rather than in the van. I can tow our Cub Scout trailer and hall my sons football teams gear with the optional rear carrying racks. I also love the fact that the bar hides about 6" behind the bumper preventing injuries to the shins. The price was cheap and the install a breeze. 418345

We received our Honda CRV kit very quickly, took about a week to get it into the mechanic for installation. He said it went in very quickly and easily, used it for the first time yesterday and it was exceptional! Very easy to take the hitch in and out, comes with a carrying kit for the extras to store away, light kit is simple to use and hook up. My wife easily put the hitch and ball on herself! Would definitely recommend the company and product to anyone looking to add one to their SUV! 293463

Nice package at a fair price. The only thing I would like to see in this kit would be a receiver lock instead of the pin. If you plan to tow multiple trailers with different ball sizes this is a must, so you don't have to have different receivers. 215940

  • Ball Mount Kit To Allow 17 inch Tall Trailer to Be Towed Level with 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan
When we installed the hitch part # 75579 on a 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan we found that the hitch height from the ground to the top of the hitch opening was 12-3/4 inches. To allow a trailer with a 17 inch coupler height to be towed level you would need 5-1/4 inches of rise. So instead for a ball mount you would want the part # 4282. Then for hitch balls part # A-90 for a 2 inch ball or part # 19286 for a 2-5/16 inch hitch ball.

  • Choosing a Ball Mount for 2011 Mercedes GLK 350 With Draw Tite Hitch
In order to choose the right 2-ball mount for your 2011 Mercedes GLK 350, there are two measurements you'll need to know. The first one you already have, which is the 13-1/2 inches from the ground to the top of your receiver. Next, you'll just need to measure from the ground to the bottom of your coupler. If the height of your hitch receiver is higher, you'll need a mount with that amount of drop; if your coupler's height is greater, you will need a ball mount with that amount of rise....

We can help you with a hitch, wiring and the related items needed to tow a rental trailer with your 2016 BMW X3. I recommend the higher-capacity hitch option which comes from Draw-Tite, their hitch # 76226, since it offers a 750-lb tongue weight (TW) rating as compared to 350-lbs for the Curt # C13316. TW is downward force on the hitch from the trailer's weight; you should be able to find out from the rental company what the specific trailer's empty TW is to confirm it will be compatible....
