This Fastway Solid Tow adjustable ball mount provides solid, rattle-free towing performance. A stainless steel pin, operated by the included hex tool, extends out from the shank and tightens the ball mount in your receiver.

Ball mount shank showing side bolt

To further eliminate any movement, a bolt in the side of the ball platform tightens the connection between the platform and the adjustment shank. As a result, you'll enjoy a quiet, rattle-free towing experience.

The ball platform is connected to the adjustment shank by the hex bolt located in the front of the platform.

To change the ball height, simply loosen both the bolt in the front and the bolt in the side of the platform with the included tool. This will release the ball platform and allow you to slide it up and down.

Video Transcript for Fastway Solid-Tow Adjustable 3-Ball Mount Review

Speaker 1: Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Fastway line of solid tow adjustable ball mounts with three stainless steel balls. Now, the adjustability of this ball mount helps out a lot when it comes to trailering on both sides. Basically a level trailer is gonna spread the load out evenly across that suspension system, so we're not gonna have to worry about maybe if we've got it tipped up, the front axle not doing its work, and it's putting all that load on the rear axle. Also, because the trailer's gonna be pushing straight on the back of the truck, we're gonna have better stopping power. As we come to a stop, we're not gonna have the back of the trunk hunker down, or potentially get lifted slightly from the weight or angle of that trailer continuing in that direction. And with today's trucks, they're getting nicer and nicer looking. It's gonna blend right in. It's gonna add some appeal to the back of the car that we didn't get with the old steel hitches. Typically, those we're just black powder coat or painted.

Eventually they'd rust, and you'd just have kind of an eyesore on the back of the truck. Now not only have they made a nice looking ball mount, but they've tried to solve a lot of the complaints we get out of the old ball mounts. The noise, them always bouncing around, and moving around. Transferring that energy into the front. With the solid tow ball mount, we have a plunger located inside the receiver tube opening, and a set screw that goes from the ball mount into the shank. And as you can see, it's very, very solid.

No noise, no movement really to speak of. I think it's gonna eliminate all that rattle that we hear, all that squeaking. But it'll also help to eliminate any of that trailer's movement being transferred into the truck where we might feel it.Now not only does the solid tow help us to alleviate the less than appealing ball mounts on the back of the truck, and that movement, but it adds tons of versatility. Comes with an inch and 7/8 ball that's rated for hauling up to 2000 pounds. It's gonna come with a 2 inch ball that's rated for up to 10,000 pounds, and the 2 5/16 inch ball, rated for up to 10,000 pounds.

So basically just by pulling this pin we can pull this ball mount right off of here, and switch to our 2 5/16. It's gonna come with a little cap in it when you get it. Pull that out, it's just as simple as placing that down on there, and rotating it into position. Now as you tighten it, you'll notice the pin is gonna be pushed out by the mount. And it clicks into position, just like that, indicating it's secure. And they have a little bit of anti-seize in them when you get them, but we've never had to maintain that one, and it works properly every time. So there's really no issues with this getting stuck on there, you having to use any kind of tool or anything like that to get it off.Additionally, we have full adjustability up and down.

So by having three different ball sizes, and the ability to adjust up and down, whether its in the drop position like this, or in the rise, which we'll show you in a minute, it's gonna eliminate the need for carrying around multiple ball mounts. One ball mount can take care of all the different trailers you might need to haul. Now let's go over the weight ratings. Each ball has a slightly different weight rating, so you want to ensure that this is gonna fit the trailer that has that size ball to make sure it's gonna fit your needs. For all three of the balls, it's 1000 pound tongue weight rating, so that's the maximum downward force we can put on top, okay For the 2 5/16 inch ball, we've got a 10,000 pound gross trailer weight rating. That's the total weight of your trailer and anything that you load up on it. Once you go to the 2 inch ball, that's gonna be 8000 pounds. And the inch and 7/8 ball, that's gonna be 3500 pounds.Something else I really appreciate, I think it adds to the looks of the ball mount, but also to the integrity and the strength, is that there are no welds on this anywhere. Each component has been machined out of the solid piece, so here we've got a solid inaudible 00:04:02 piece of aircraft grade aluminum, same for our ball platform, and then our balls and the threaded stud that sticks up to thread those on. All machined out of a solid piece of stainless steel.Another nice feature, especially with certain states implementing laws regarding ball mounts on the back of vehicles, by loosening up our set screw here, and loosening up the one here, we're able to completely remove the ball mount and the ball, keeping us legal in all of those states. Now there are different types like this, and different ways to do this. Some of them will come off completely, like what we have here. Some of them will roll around, and kind of store underneath. But I think being able to completely remove this and store it in your truck is gonna be nice, if your state has that requirement by law.Now going to the rise position is just as easy as drop. Just need to loosen that up a little bit. Rotate it over. And with this full adjustability, this is another thing, the whole system's pretty lightweight. It's gonna be nice and durable, which you'll see in the reviews. It's not all that heavy, so it's not unmanageable for most people to be able to handle it.Pick whatever height we wanna go to, using our indication marks there. And then just reset it as if it we're in the drop. The Fastway solid tow also receives really good reviews. It's like John M. said, "I needed several inches of adjustability for two trailers. This ball mount can handle the 5 inch rise I need for my kayak trailer, and the level tongue of my 20 foot sailboat trailer. The security and the anti-rattle feature are a great design. The polished aluminum mount and stainless steel hitch balls look like an appearance accessory."Then after a year, he said, "This ball mount works really well after a year. I still need the adjustability and the fit and finish are like new."Now to begin our installation, we're gonna grab the shank. We wanna place this inside of our receiver tube opening. And we're gonna install a standard hitch pin and clip. With that in place, we're gonna take the provided tool, gonna place that in and rotate it clockwise in the tightening process there. As you can see, it's gonna lock that out, so it's rock solid inside of that receiver tube. Now when tightening that set screw, it raises this up. That's gonna put a tremendous amount of force on that receiver tube opening. That's gonna ensure we don't have any movement in the shank. Now the ball mount itself does not come with a locking hitch pin. You can pick one of those up on our website if you choose. But the key that we use here to tighten it, you'll notice it has the hole in the end of it, so it's in the security style. You can't use just a standard Allen key to loosen or tighten this. Now we'll place the ball mount platform on. Something I really like about this setup, we've got our six inches of drop here, and that's gonna vary depending on the drop that you select. But there's a small notch at each position to indicate exactly where we need it to be set, so we're not like, searching like we do with typical other ball mounts, when they're adjustable. You've gotta kind of search to find that location. So we're gonna bring it up to where we want it, so you just use that notch for reference. And then we can tighten down the screw on the front. That's gonna have that locked in position, now you can see, nice and secure. Then you've got our safety lock screw here on the side. This is designed to prevent this one from backing out, so it's kind of like a redundant safety, almost. You're gonna see, once we have everything tightened down, up and down, and side to side. Everything is rock solid. This is gonna eliminate all that noise, and that rattle that we always get out of standard ball mounts. And that's gonna complete our look at the Fastway line of solid tow adjustable ball mounts.

Very versatile, nice looking hitch. My 2016 Dodge Ram 2500 truck is very high, so the long drop of this hitch works in most cases. Sometimes I wish I had gotten one that is slightly shorter, but I use it with a variety of different trailers, so it's probably best to have all the height options that this one provides. 608420
