Video Transcript for Sportframe Drawbar 2-1/8 Rise or 2-3/4 Drop Kit Review

Today we are going to show you Draw-Tite Sportframe Drawbar part number 3592. It has a tounge weight capacity of 200 pounds and a gross trailer weight of 2,000 pounds. It is designed to fit 1-1/4 inch, class I trailer hitches. It is designed to use hitch balls with 3/4 inch shank diameter and includes a pin and clip. :30

When the drawbar is mounted in the position like this, we lower 2-3/4 inches from the top of our shank to the top of the ball platform. When used in the rise position, we gain 2-1/8 inches from the top of the shank to the top of the platform. To install the drawbar, slide it in the receiver opening and line up your holes. Once the hitch pin holes are aligned, we will our pin and secure it on the other side with the clip. That does it for Draw-Tite Sportframe Drawbar part number 3592.

I installed the trailer wiring and a friend helped install the hitch. Etrailer website is excellent. I got the right items on time and the fit is better than my wife’s dealer installed hitch. Videos on the etrailer site are clear and correct. One caveat, don’t try installing the hitch without at least one other person and having a way to lift the car(we used ramps) is a great help. The only possible way etrailer could be any more helpful is if they could recruit some local shops that would be willing to do the installation. I especially like having my wiring in the passenger compartment when not in use. It keeps it out of the Salt here in the northeast. 690056

Ask the Experts about this Draw-Tite Ball Mounts

  • Recommended Draw Bar Ball Mount For Class I Trailer Hitch Receiver On 2001 Honda Accord
Your 2001 Honda Accord is only able to use a Class I hitch receiver, so the rise and drop of your ball mount is extremely limited. I recommend the Draw-Tite Drawbar for 1-1/4" Hitch - 2-1/8" Rise, 2-3/4" Drop # 3592 or the Curt Class II Drawbar - 2-5/8" Rise, 3-1/4" Drop # C45016. Either option will work with a Class I hitch. For the Curt drawbar you need the pin and clip as well, # F-4. You will also need a hitch ball like # 19258 for a 2 inch ball or # 19256 for a 1-7/8 inch hitch...

  • Could a 2014 Subaru Outback Tow a 5x8 Trailer Loaded with Mulch
You will first need to determine what the towing capacity is for your 2014 Subaru Outback and then determine how much your trailer will weigh when it is loaded at its max. I attached and FAQ article on determining tongue weight that should be very helpful. If you determine that your trailer weighs less than the max capacities listed for your vehicle then you would have no problem using your vehicle to tow your trailer. You will also want to make sure that your trailer is being towed...

  • How to Find a Ball Mount with the Right Rise or Drop to Tow a Trailer Level with an ATV
I will be happy to help. To determine the right amount of drop you will need the first step is to take a couple of measurements. Park the ATV and the trailer on level ground. Measure from the ground to the top of the receiver opening on the ATV. Then, level the trailer (as if you were towing it level) and measure from the ground to the bottom of the coupler. The difference is the amount of drop you will need (unless the trailer is higher then the difference would be the amount of rise...

  • Taking Out the Play Between Ball Mount and Receiver on 2011 Subaru Forester with OEM Trailer Hitch
The issue that you are having seems to be a common one with Subaru OEM trailer hitches. But I have to warn you against drilling any additional holes because doing so can actually reduce the capacity of the ball mount and make it structurally unsound. The best option for you is to use an anti rattle device of some kind. The simplest option is # 93347. This little guy wedges itself between the ball mount and the receiver opening and takes up the play. I have included a link to a video...

I went out into our warehouse and measured the distance from the center of the pin hole to the butt end of the shank on the Sportframe Drawbar 2-1/8 inch Rise or 2-3/4 inch Drop 2000# Kit, part # 3592, and found that it is 1-9/16 inches. I then pulled a Sportframe Drawbar 2-1/8 inch Rise or 2-3/4 inch Drop 2000# Kit, part # 3593, and found that it also shares the same measurement of 1-9/16 inches from center of the pin hole to the butt end of the shank. The end of the receiver on Draw-Tite # 36644 is about even with the back of your 2018 Subaru Crosstrek, as you can see in the accompanying photo. So without having to worry about any clearance issue and Draw-Tite drawbars # 3592 and # 3593 are the same in every way except for length, the truth is neither of them are "better" and you will be fine with either option.
