Video Transcript for Draw-Tite Ball Mount Review - 2013 Honda Odyssey

Today on our 2013 Honda Odyssey, we'll be test-fitting the Draw Tite ball mount with three quarter-inch rise or two-inch drop part number 2923. To begin our test-fit we'll go ahead and get our hitch height. This is measuring from the ground to the inside top edge of our receiver tube. We have a hitch height of two inches. Now we'll go and pick our ball mount and install it in the drop position. We'll just line up the pinhole and then insert our pin and clip.

Our drop position measurement is nine-and-a-half inches. This is measuring from the ground to the ball platform. Make sure when measuring your trailer height you do so when your trailer is level. You want to measure from the ground to the bottom of the coupler. If your measurement matches ours, then this would be a correct fit for you.

Now we'll take our ball mount and switch it to the rise position. We'll just line up the pin hole and then install our pin and clip. Our rise position measurement is 13 inches. If this measurement matches yours, then this would be a good fit for you. That completes our test-fit of the Draw Tite ball mount with three quarter-inch rise or two-inch drop part number 2923 on our 2013 Honda Odyssey..

I was just rear ended in my suv. During the accident the Hitch ball mount was bent. As usual I visited the etrailer web site so I could purchase another one. That has to be one of the nicest quickest web site I have been on. Thank you it was extremely easy to find and order. Delivery was very quick. Thanks again. 676916

Sorry I did not write back sooner, it’s has been a busy October. I really like everything that I bought. So far I have only used the hitch for my bike rack. But I am planning on using a friends trailer for some yard work and home project jobs. I am a welder by trade and everything is well built and as expected, no issues with anything. I especially like how easy the electrical was to connect to the factory harness. My friend who owns the trailer recently bought another truck and with my recommendation he also purchased a trailer hitch and the other parts he needed from etrailer.com. I have recommended etrailer.com to literally everyone I know. I really like the products and will be a return customer.

Purchased a can of BP Blaster penetrating spray the day after I ordered the parts. I sprayed the weld nuts several times while waiting for the parts to arrive and it seemed to help loosen them up. My order arrived on time and I installed the hitch the next morning. I installed the hitch by myself ( I'm 67 years old), and while I admit that an extra set of hands would have been very helpful, the install was easier than I anticipated. I had all the parts I needed, the instructions were easy to follow and the online video was very helpful. I purchased the hitch in order to tow a trailer with a ton of wood pellets, instead of getting 1/2 a ton at a time (the capacity of my truck). Hopefully these products will solve my problem, only time will tell. 392664

Fastest delivery I have ever had. Ordered Wednesday at 5PM, arrived Thursday at 3PM. I'm only a couple hundred miles from Wentzville, but still, excellent. The hitch receiver (2008 Pilot) installed quickly and easily. No need to remove spare or lower muffler. I supported the left end on a large cooler and quickly maneuvered the right side above the tail pipes. The mounting holes were right on target. I had to tap mine to remove rust, but that's easy as well. The wiring harness was also a snapto install. Simple to plug into existing fitting and the wiring box tucked away nicely beneath the trim as advertised. There are options about what to do with the wiring tail and trailer connector. I chose the method shown in the video...leave it rubber-banded in the storage well. Others have run it outside through available holes, but I did not want to leave it exposed to road grime. etrailer's videos were very detailed and shown on my specific vehicle for both the hitch and the wiring harness. Good values as well. If I were Draw-Tite (or Curt) I would include a complementary rubber plug with their logo...cheap advertising. 430539

Product as advertised. Wished I'd paid more attention to what was included and not included. Seller web site did a good job indicating other suggestions on what would go with what you were viewing. So much so, I became dependent on it, and over looked the fact that the pin to hold the ball mount was not included in either the receiver or ball mount. I overlooked this and had to go out and buy this somewhere else. Other than that ordering was easy, and I received everything in a timely manner. It's worth noting that their tracking was dead on as well. It's nice tracking the progress of a package you are waiting for so you can plan your installation. And again, they do a nice job of following up letting you know they received, shipped the order and a link to follow it in transit. 147675

Very nice hitch. This is my third hitch purchase from etrailer.com and as usual, delivery was fast and the install went smoothly. The videos and user comments were very helpful. My vehicle is a few years old so the suggestion to chase the 8 mounting nut holes was spot on. There was a lot of mud and dirt which easily came out but would have been a pain to do while mounting the hitch. Also, the suggestion to spray down the rubber exhaust hangers and muffler heat shield bolts with penetrant (WD40) helped as well. The recommended draw bar and 4-wire harness also mounted beautifully. Got to love those factory installed rear wire harnesses which allow plug-in trailer harnesses on the Honda/Acura products. Total install took about 90 minutes which I think will be typical for a DIY'er who sprays down the bolts, chases the holes and without rushing or using air tools. Will buy again from etrailer.com 60422

Product was very good, installation was simple enough. This is the second hitch assembly I have purchased from you, both have been excellent. Just one problem, the retaining pin that holds the hitch in the receiver is to short. Making it very difficult to clip the pin into place. Thanks 719241

If a standard hitch pin like # e98880
etrailer.com Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock - Flush Design for 2" Trailer Hitches

or # PC3

isnt easy to secure, an extra long hitch pin like # e98881
etrailer.com Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock - Extra Long - Flush Design for 2-1/2" Trailer Hitches

could work well for you. This hitch pin is designed for 2-12 inch trailer hitches, but is 58 inch diameter and will work in a 2 inch hitch as long as you have clearance for the longer pin.

Had these for over a year which translates into one Maine winter and two extended off road hunting trips. The mud flaps are still on which is very good considering that they were put on in a hurry after dark. They do help prevent mud and snow buildup. Also dress up the vehicle a bit. 717223

Got this primarily for a hitch mount bike rack so have not used it for towing and did not need a wiring harness. The hitch was very easy to install. Customer Support was excellent. Products fit as good as factory and a whole lot less expensive. Installed in a couple of hours with a little help from a friend. The hitch is pretty beefy and I needed a little help holding in place. Other than that everything bolted right up. Nice heavy duty bolts and thick wafer washers to insure it won’t come lose. The hardest part was cutting the plastic factory shielding underneath around the hitch. Great product. 715369

Ask the Experts about this Draw-Tite Ball Mounts

Do you have a question about this Ball Mount?

  • Is it Okay for Ball Mount to Move in Trailer Hitch Receiver Some
  • What you are describing is actually pretty normal for a ball mount. There is almost always some tolerance between the trailer hitch receiver and the ball mount (or accessory) being installed which is why there are a variety of anti-rattle devices out there. Some accessories and ball mounts come with them built-in but if you have a standard ball mount there are aftermarket anti-rattle devices you can use. Technically the tolerance you have is fine but if you want to get rid of it we do have...

  • To install the Draw-Tite Class III receiver hitch part # 75657 on your Infiniti, the splash guards, under body appearance panels and tow hook will need to be removed. Once the installation is completed, the splash guards will be replaced, but the tow hook and the under body panels will not be re installed as they would interfere with the hitch. If you choose to install the hitch, we recommend keeping these removed items in the event you should decide to remove the hitch in the future. For...

  • Trailer Wiring Harness for 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor
  • The connector on the # 118516 T-One connector would indeed plug into the trailer connector plug located in the cargo area, under the carpet next to the drivers side wheel well as shown in the photo. Just to be sure, I contacted our representative at Tow Ready, who assured me that the # 118516 trailer wiring harness is compatible with all models of the 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor. If you don't yet have a hitch, I'd recommend either the Curt Class III # 13569 or the Draw-Tite # 75163. Both...

  • Short Ball Mount Recommendation for a 2013 Volkswagen Touareg
  • Having a ball mount that is longer should not be an issue. It actually can provide more clearance when turning. The standard for a 2 inch ball mount is around 8 to 8-1/2 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball hole. We currently offer several aluminum ball mounts for 2 inch hitches that have a 2 inch drop. Alumistinger, # AM3503 Self-Locking ball mount, # DTLBM8200 Solid aluminum ball mount, # DTBM5200

  • Eliminating Ball Mount Rattle
  • I am not familiar with the ball mount you are describing. The best method for eliminating hitch rattle is to make the shank of the ballmount fit as tightly as possible, stopping any movement. The Softride # SR25219 anti-rattle device would be an excellent option if the shank of your ball mount is hollow. Another option would be the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch, part # RM-061. Both of these anti-rattle devices are compatible with 2 inch receivers only. We do not offer a catalog, our entire...

  • Will I Be Able to Keep the Spare Tire When I Install Curt Hitch # 13020 on my 2002 Chevy Blazer 4x4
  • According to the installation instructions you will just raise the hitch into position and then torque down the included nuts and bolts to the specified torque rating and you will be set. There is no mention having to modify/remove the spare tire at all. I would assume that as long as your spare tire is the original factory size tire you would have no issues with it at all installing this hitch on your 2002 Chevy Blazer 4x4 with 4 doors. You may need the following items to complete...

  • Ball Mount Recommendation for 2016 Kia Sorento
  • You're looking for a ball mount. Ball mounts are available in different heights so the trailer can be towed level. You'd measure the difference between the inside top of the receiver tube and the height of the underside of the trailer coupler. The difference would be the rise or drop needed. I'll link you to an FAQ article that explains how to take the measurement. To choose the proper ball mount, first you'll need to know whether you have a 1-1/4 or a 2 inch receiver opening. Just measure...

  • Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2006 BMW X5
  • I recommend the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch for the 2006 BMW X5, item # 75492, which has a 6,000 pound towing weight capacity and a 600 pound tongue weight capacity. The highest capacity hitch is always the way to go when possible, for safety and versatility for future needs. At first look the Curt Trailer Hitch for the 2006 BMW X5, item # C13162, seems to be an easier installation but if you review the instructions for each, I believe, you will see that the Draw-Tite model is just as easy...

  • What Are the Differences Among the Available Trailer Hitches for a 2010 Mazda CX-9
  • The biggest difference among the available hitches for your 2010 Mazda CX-9 is that the Curt and Valley hitches (13575 and V82592), cannot be used with a weight distribution system. The Draw-Tite (75531) can be used with a weight distribution system. In terms of how much of the hitch is visible, I know it is a little difficult to see it in the videos. But I can tell you that with all of these hitches, you will be able to see the hitch opening and at least 6 inches of tubing on either...

  • Trailer Hitch Selection and Weight Distribution Recommendation for a 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe GLS
  • The Draw-Tite, # 41543 is a great fit for your 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe. I've attached an installation video for you. Although the hitch is rated above and beyond the stated towing capacity of your vehicle, you will still be limited to the capacity of the lowest rated component, which would be the vehicle in this case. The hitch is not designed for or capable of being used with a weight distribution system, due to the relatively low towing capacity of the Santa Fe. You might also...
