Video Transcript for Draw-Tite Ball Mount Review

Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Draw-Tite 4 inch drop or 2 3/4 inch rise ball mount. Part number is 2753. We've got a 4 inch drop where you can rotate it over into a 2 3/4 inch rise to help you cover different bases. This is a hollow shank, so we're not so worried about it being really heavy, and a 3/4 inch wide ball mount platform, and the hole for the ball shank itself, that's going to be 1 inch. The ball mount itself is rated for 750 pounds of tongue weight, so that's the maximum downward force we can put down on top of the ball, and it's 7,500 pound gross trailer weight rating, so that's going to be the total weight of your trailer and anything that you load up. You'll want to go off the 7,500 pounds as a maximum unless your car is rated lower. Check your owner's manual, see what your car's tow rating is, and follow whichever of those numbers would be the lowest. The ball mount will be ideal for lots of different applications, your medium and light duty trucks, SUVs, vans, cars.

The only real requirement you're going to have is a 2 inch x 2 inch receiver tube opening on your hitch. It will line up this pinhole with the pinhole in our hitch, slide through our pin, secure it with the clip. Now we'll be ready to grab whichever ball we need at the time. The materials of the kit, of course, are ball mount. We've got heavy duty steel.

It'll be black powder coat finished. Let's hook up our trailer, and we'll be able to hit the road. That's going to complete our look at the Draw-Tite ball mount, part number 2753.

Well made 2 inch drawbar. The only shortcoming is that the 2 inch ball shank has no drilled hole to fit a cotter pin. 730070

It looks like you paired the Curt 2 Inch Ball # 40038
2" Hitch Ball - 1" Diameter x 2-1/4" Long Shank - Chrome - 12,000 lbs

with this ball mount - great option. That hitch ball, and none of our other hitch ball options, feature a hole in the shank to fit a cotter pin. The hitch ball should be installed and torqued to the specifications provided by the manufacturer with the hitch ball.

Working in the sand and grass of my driveway my wife and I installed our new etrailer receiver hitch. Great fit and finish! Went right on as described in the online guide. Hitch required a spacer washer on top back bolt attachment point. Taped it on so it would not move while lifting in place and it stayed right there! Used a car jack to raise up and hold the hitch into the underside of the trunk tighten the bolts and reattached the tail pipe done. Now we can pull our Sunfish Sailboat any where the car will go. 154242

My F150 had an OEM 4 pin trailer plug and hitch. The 118242 - 7 pin connector with wiring harness is the ticket. The hardest part of the install was dropping the spare tire. The plugs connect directly to the factory plugs and the harness length is the correct length. The 3035-P brake controller connector harness was just as easy. Plugs right in to the OEM plug next to the ECM connector and the other end into the brake controller. The PK12711U-26 - 7 pin bracket and hardware kit fastens directly the OEM bracket that is on the hitch. My truck had an OEM 4 pin trailer towing set up with the hitch. The OEM hitch had the bracket welded on it to attach the 7 pin mounting bracket to it. These kits make this install very easy and professional looking. If I have one complaint, the hardware kit to attach the 7 pin connector bracket is set up to fasten the bracket directly to the bumper with 2 - self tapping screws provided in the kit. The kit also includes 4 #12 machine screws with toothed washer nuts to attached the 7 pin connector to the bracket. This is fine if your truck hitch doesn't have an attaching bracket welded to it. The kit should included in it 6 #12 machine screws and nuts along with the 2 self tapping screws. Since my OEM hitch actually had a bracket welded to it to attach the 7 pin bracket to it, I had to use two other #12 screws and nuts to attach the 7 pin bracket to the OEM bracket on the hitch. Not a big deal, just a thought. It took me about 2 hours, start to finish to install the 7 pin connector, trailer controller, and add the two relays in the OEM relay/fuse box under the hood. I highly recommend these kits. 322338

The Draw-Tite Ball Mount for 2" Hitches - 2-3/4" Rise, 4" Drop - 9" Long - 7.5K # 2753 is not the correct fit for zero rise or drop. • Right Ball Mount Rise For A 2003 Ford F-150

Next, you will measure the coupler height from the ground to the bottom of the trailer coupler when the trailer is on level ground. Next, you will need to compute the difference. To find the correct ball mount for your 2008 Toyota Sienna and 2003 Coleman Santa Fe tent trailer, there are a couple of measurements you will need to take. First, Measure the hitch height from the ground to the top of the receiver opening on the trailer hitch. Make sure your van is parked on level ground. Next, measure the trailer coupler height from the ground to the bottom of the trailers coupler. Again, the measurement is most accurate when on level ground. The trailer will also...

  • Can Ball Mount be Used Upside Down to Use in Rise Position
A great majority of standard ball mounts are designed so that they can be used in either the drop or rise position. Using a ball mount like the Draw-Tite # 2753 that you were looking at in the rise position is just a matter of turning it upside down like what you mentioned. This does not typically have any effect on the weight capacity or integrity of the ball mount. With that being said, it's hard for me to say for certain that this is the case with your particular ball mount without...

To tow your trailer level based on the dimensions you listed you are correct, you would want a ball mount that has 4-1/4 inches of drop. The closest drop we have would be 4 inches like the part # 2753. Since the rear suspension of your Honda Pilot will sag slightly with the tongue weight of your trailer this ball mount should be perfect. For a 2 inch ball you would want the # 63845 or for a 1-7/8 inch ball part # 19261.

To measure the coupler height, you will measure from the ground to the bottom edge of the coupler. Do this on level ground with the trailer level. On the truck, you will measure from the ground to the top of the receiver opening, again with truck level on level ground. If the truck is taller, then you will need a drop equal to the difference....

I'm guessing you're looking for a ball mount with a 3-1/4 inch rise or drop, is that correct? The Draw-Tite # 4285 would be perfect for your needs. The ball mount provides 3 inches of rise or 4 inches of drop and a 12,000 lb capacity. As long as your trailer tongue is within 1-2 inches of being level, you're plenty close enough. For a 2 inch trailer ball, use part # A-90 or # 19286 for a 2-5/16 inch ball.
