This ball mount has served it purpose well. I purchased a new travel trailer that is heavy enough to require a weight distribution hitch when using the factory installed Class III hitch on our Dodge RAM 2500. I decided to upgrade to a Class V hitch combined with this ball mount to take delivery of the TT in order to defer decisions about a WD hitch until the actual load conditions were known. The hour trip home with this setup worked very well. Once the trailer was outfitted I was able to determine the actual tongue weight of the loaded trailer and I decided to purchase an appropriately sized Reese Straight Line WD hitch. However, this ball mount comes in handy for moving the trailer short distances without hassling with the WD system. The purchase experience through etrailer.com was first rate.

I was surprised at the heft and quality of the ball mount. Shipping was fast, communication good, easy and informative website to use. Thanks etrailer, you have earned a new customer!

All is well, Thanks!?

Very well made and heavy duty. Pulling a 24foot car hauler enclosed trailer. No problem with this ball mount and etrailer are great people for your service and towing needs

by:

One bad ass tow hitch, the ratings are higher than my Class 4 receiver

by:

Awesome. Wish I buy a hitch extension that would handle 12,000 pounds!

Thank you for your review. Since hitch extenders reduce the weight capacity by 35 it would be better to use a ball mount with a 12,000lb weight rating instead. Here is one that is 12 inches long: part # 4285.

by:

Great for towing a car dolly which has a very low towing height due to 12 in tires.

by:

Fast and high quality

by:

Perfect fit for the one ton Dodge duelly to keep my 10,000 lb trailer level.

by:

Used to raise my hitch to fit a built in tow bar for a jeep on the bumper. Built very solidly.

Beefier than I expected and that was a great surprise. Original item was on back order and customer service actually called me with excellent alternatives. Thank you so much for your personalized service!!

After one year and much use the part still looks and works is if it was purchased yesterday. Harsh salt water environment had no adverse effect at all.

  • Availability of Solid Ball Mount with 8 Inch Drop
It sounds like you're looking for a completely solid shank ball mount for a 2" hitch that also has an 8" drop; I am not aware of anything like this being on the market since there are some challenges with manufacturing a solid ball mount with that large of a drop. Your best bet is going to be using something like the Curt Ball Mount for 2" Hitches - 7" Rise, 8" Drop - 9-3/8" Long - 12,000 lbs # C45448, which has an 8" drop and is made from solid steel. This does have a 1-1/4" hole for the...

  • How to Determine the Amount of Drop Needed on Ball Mount for Towing Trailer
When determining the amount of rise or drop you will need on the ball mount for your towing setup, you just need to take a couple simple measurements. The first, which you have already taken, is from the ground to the top of the trailer hitch receiver when your vehicle is parked and on level ground. The second is from the ground to the bottom of the trailer coupler when it is also parked on level ground. You did state you took a measurement when the trailer was attached to a different vehicle,...

  • Recommended Ball Mount for Curt Hitch on a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe for 18-1/2" of Height
Welcome back! It looks like your 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe has the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver item # C13152 with a 2" receiver. You will want to use the Curt Ball Mount for 2" Hitches - 7" Rise tem # C45448. Then for a 2 inch ball you'll need item # 63845. This should put the top of the ball right around 18-1/2' - 19". So you should have no problem being level once you connect your trailer.

  • Selecting Correct Fixed or Adjustable Ball Mount for Class A Motorhome Towing Trailer
It sounds like you are looking for an adjustable ball mount to allow hitching your Terra Class A motorhome to your trailer, which is about 8-inches lower to the ground. The linked article explains how to measure to determine the correct fixed ball mount, or you can select an adjustable one if you prefer, such as # FA42-00-2800. I linked our main page for 2-inch ball mount with 8-inches of drop, such as Curt # C45448, and I also linked our adjustable ball mounts which are probably a better...

  • 12K-Rated 2-Inch Ball Mount with 8-Inches of Drop
For a 2-inch ball mount rated for 12,000-lbs that has 8-inches of drop we offer two options you can see on the linked page. Part # 4283 from Draw-Tite provides 7-inches of rise or 8-inches of drop, as does Curt # C45448. Both take a hitch ball, sold separately, like 10K-rated # A-90. This is the highest-rated 2-inch ball we offer. We do not have a 12K ball mount with this rise/drop that comes with the hitch ball pre-mounted.

  • Replacement Wheel Strap and Steering Wheel Strap for 2021 Elantra Hybrid on Demco Kar Kaddy SS
In order to get the hitch ball down to the height you are looking for to use your Demco Kar Kaddy SS # DM9713045 you are going to need a ball mount with an 8" drop. I recommend the Curt Ball Mount for 2" Hitches - 7" Rise, 8" Drop - 9-3/8" Long - 12,000 lbs # C45448. You will also need the # A-90 for a 2" ball. From what I found about the tires that come with a 2021 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid, you either have a 205/55R16 tire or a 225/45R17 tire. The correct wheel strap for either of this...

  • Recommended Ball Mount For 2014 Dodge Challenger To Tow Trailer With 16" Coupler Height
When we had a chance to install the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 76145 on a similar 2018 Dodge Challenger we found that from the ground to the top inside edge of the trailer hitch receiver measured in at 9-1/4". Since the Detail K2 Mighty Multi A-Frame Utility Trailer - 7-1/2' Long - 1,640 lbs # K2MMT5X7 you were looking at has a coupler height of 16" I recommend the Curt Ball Mount for 2" Hitches - 7" Rise, 8" Drop - 9-3/8" Long - 12,000 lbs...

  • Options for Sway Control on a Hitch That Cannot Use Weight Distribution
We definitely have some options available for your 2021 Audi Q8. With your trailer sitting right at 24 inches tall and the hitch sitting at 17 inches, I am going to suggest going with 7 inches of rise. The Curt Ball Mount for 2" Hitches # C45448 will have the needed 7 inches of rise and will also be able to handle up to 12,000 pounds. The Curt 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # C40008 will then attach to this ball mount. You will also need a pin and clip, like the C21500, if you do not already have...

Since you have a 10,000 lb capacity Demco Channel Tongue Trailer Coupler # DM13689-95, in order to match the weight capacity and get the 7" of drop you need, you will need an adjustable ball mount: - B&W Tow & Stow 2-Ball Mount # BWTS10040B (Black) or # BWTS10040C (Chrome) The Tow & Stow has a 2" and also a 2-5/16" ball, a 10,000 lb towing capacity, and up to 7" of drop so it matches everything you...
