Video Transcript for Curt Ball Mounts - Fixed Ball Mount - C45027 Review

Today we'll be reviewing part number C45027. This is the Curt Class-I draw bar. It's made from a sturdy steel construction, has a black gloss powder coat finish so it is going to stand up well against rust and corrosion. You can see here on the back side that it does have a hollow shank. This ball mount goes through a high-quality manufacturing process. It's CNC machined for strong consistent cuts and welds and it goes through a 7-stage washing method that's going to help deliver a nice, smooth, clean surface. When using this, both the drop and rise positions are available to help ensure a level tow.

This is the portion here that slides into the shank of the receiver tube of your hitch, or the shank slides into the hitch. You line up the hitch pin holes and insert a 1/2" pin and clip. It is sold separately for a hitch pin and lock. You can refer to the Ball Mounts product page under Related Items to view those products or go to our website and type in part number PC2 and it will refer you to this 1/2" pin that comes with a clip. This is designed to work with a 1 1/4" x 1 1/4" trailer hitch receiver. Because of the 2,000 gross towing weight capacity, it is classified as a Class-I draw bar.

The tongue weight has a capacity of 200 pounds. When choosing a hitch ball, you want to make sure that the shank of the hitch ball does not exceed the ball hole diameter which, for this mount, is going to measure at 3/4". When installed in this position, this will be the drop position. You measure from the inside top edge of the receiver tube to the ball platform. That's going to give us a drop measurement at 3 1/4". If installed in the rise position, which is this position here, doing that same measurement is going to give us a maximum rise of 2 5/8".

When we measure the distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball hole, it's going to give us a measurement of 6 1/4" and an overall length of right about 9". That's going to complete today's review of part number C45027. This is the Curt Class-I draw bar. .

Solidly built. For my application, 2014 Cruze, I should have gotten a longer one. This works but it puts my trailer tongue really close to the bumper. 506275

Great product 104517

No problems so far. Fits the oddly shallow trailer (also purchased here) for my toyota corolla 2001. It interferes with the license plate to where I have to bend it to get things to fit, but it should still be workable. 96618

This is a hollow steel shaft with solid steel tongue for the ball. The steel is heavy gauge. Mine fit perfectly into my motorcycle trailer hitch receiver. I have bought trailer hitches from eTrailer in the past. As usual, this is another quality product at a fair price DELIVERED TO MY DOOR! 70167

Do you have a question about this Ball Mount?

  • What is the Difference Between a Class I and Class II Ball Mount
  • Class I Ball Mounts When towing with a Class I trailer hitch, the Class I ball mount that is recommended by the trailer hitch manufacturer should be used. All Class I trailer hitches are tested and rated with the specific ball mount for that hitch. Using a ball mount that is not recommended by the manufacturer will void the warranty. • Ball Mount Recommendation that is 4 inches Shorter than the Sportframe Ball Mount part # 3594
  • I believe the closest thing we have to the Sportframe Drawbar part # 3594 that you referenced that is 4 inches shorter would be the Curt Class I Drawbar # C45027. The length of this ball mount from the center of the hitch pin hole to the ball hole is 6-1/4 inches and it has a rise of 2-5/8 inches. Basically this ball mount is 4 inches shorter than the ball mount you referenced but its rise is about 1-1/2 inches lower.

  • Correct Towing Products for a 2011 Honda Accord
  • The part 116813-56173-40001 can be broken down into a few different parts. The first 6 digits (116813) are the same as a Class I Curt trailer hitch and it will only fit a 2013 - 2017 Honda Accord. The next 5 digits, same as part # C56173, is a wiring harness that fits a 2013 - 2017 Honda Accord. And the last 5, same as part # C40001, is only a 1-7/8" hitch ball but it would fit the ball mount that comes with the trailer hitch mentioned above. If you have a Sedan or Coupe then the...

  • Ball Mount and Ball Recommendations for Draw-Tite Class I Trailer Hitch on a 2011 Dodge Caliber
  • I checked to see which hitch you ordered for your 2011 Dodge Caliber and it was Draw-Tite hitch # 24769. For Class I trailer hitches like this you are supposed to use the ball mount recommended by the hitch manufacturer. In this case it is # 3591 and the hitch instructions indicate it should be used in the rise position only (with the ball platform on top). A hitch pin with clip is included. If the trailer you will be towing takes a 1-7/8 inch ball you can use ball # 19256. And if it...

  • Is there a 1-1/4 Inch Ball Mount with 4 to 5 Inches of Drop
  • Ball mount # 36078 has a drop of 4-3/4 inches. This ball mount is designed for Class II hitches with a 1-1/4 inch receiver. If you have a Class I hitch this ball mount may not fit depending on the brand of the hitch. For a Class I hitch we have several ball mounts that offer a 3-1/4 inch drop: # C45022, # C45026, and # C45027. Also keep in mind that the tongue weight of the trailer will pull down on the back of the vehicle some so that can help in keeping the trailer level.
