Installation
This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located in your rear cargo area. You will have to remove the rear scuff panel and additional trim to access this harness.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your cargo area.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights.
Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.
Curt builds each tail light converter using surface-mount technology (SMT). This method of construction involves soldering electronic components directly to the surface of a printed circuit board. SMT eliminates the need for leads, which are used in older through-hole technology. The result is a circuit board that is smaller yet provides more routing area and that offers superior performance, reliability and durability.
Circuit boards constructed using SMT have been shown to perform better under rough conditions with excessive vibration than those made using the through-hole method. And where would vibration be more likely to occur than in towing applications? Curt converters also produce less heat, leading to increased durability and longer life. In addition, lower levels of resistance ensure better performance, especially for parts that operate at higher frequencies.

Just what I needed for the trailer hitch I bought.
First purchase they didn't work but Etrailer accepted an exchange and the second one works just fine. Definitely want to use plastic tools to get behind the interior panels. Would buy again.

As a retired auto technician, I found that watching the etrailer installation videos specific to your year and model quite helpful. The interior panel retaining buttons are fragile, but don’t panic if you break a couple of them, the panels will go back in place just fine with a couple of them missing.
I am still very happy a year out. I was able to easily install the Curt trailer hitch on my 2012 Honda CR-V all by myself. This is the second time that I've purchased a hitch from etrailer and it was an excellent expeirience both times. The product came well-packaged with no parts missing and instructions. The also provided links to ibstructional videos so you can literally follow along as you watch someone guide you. I use my hitch to tow a small 6x4 ft. trailer full of fire wood, leaves, dirt, furniture, and anything else that will fit. Price works great I installed it myself and yes I am a woman, I watch the video and everything went just as it should have I save myself $500 not having a trailer hitch and the wiring done and doing it myself. Thank you so much e trailers

Purchasing from etrailer.com is a great experience. Their customer service has been exemplary.
I wired it to the outside of the Crv so I didn't have to open the hatch every time I wanted to pull my trailer. First I cut the trailer plug off a foot from the plug and ran the wires through the grommet in the photo. I had already cut a hole in the underbody and this grommet lead right to this hole. Then I reattached the trailer plug to the wires with shrink wrap connectors and ran the plug right above the hitch. Very clean install and setup I really like it.
The trailer hitch and wiring harness arrived in 2 days, which was much quicker than I expected. The installation went smoothly thanks to the detailed instructional videos on etrailer.com. Great products, prices, and service. Thank you etrailer.com.
I installed this in my 2012 Honda CRV because my trailer’s running lights stopped working. The product is easy to install because it only has two plugs to connect in addition to an inline fuse, ground wire, and fuse for the car. The only bummer was that the inline fuse prongs were next to each other but the inline fuse plug’s receptors were offset, so I wasn’t sure if the fuse was really making proper contact. But overall, I rate it 5 stars.
Here is the final finish of the Curt "T" connector. Wired to my Hidden Hitch I purchased. Ordered a separate bracket to house the four pin plug to give it a cleaner look. Easy to install and looks amazing. Can't wait to try it out.
This wiring kit was easy to install and has been powering my trailer lights ever since. My only complaint is that the provided adhesive for securing the box in place behind the interior panels was not very sticky and I had to use something else.

The hardest part was removing the under car trim panel. Installation was straight forward and completely idiot proof (I'm proof of that). Well built and designed. I highly recommend getting this!

After 1 Year and a couple thousand miles of towing it still works great!
Exceptional service. Fast delivery. Another retailer failed to install a towing wiring harness so I found this product which was exactly what I needed. It came with videos and instructions that made it incredibly easy to install myself.

A little tough but managed without any help. Also, The wiring was cake as well. Perfect demonstration and walkthrough on your video(s). You asked for the pics so I shot a few for you. I've never had a vehicle with a tow hitch so my next goal is a trailer. gotta save for that one :(

Very nice and well made trailer hitch wiring harness for my Honda CRV. Brake, tail lights, turn signal lights tested perfect first try. Cover for plug keeps contact points clean when not in use.
Kit fit as described. Struggled to get the black rear panel back on as others had mentioned. Tough to get that gap out as it separates from the other piece near the rear seat. I did stick my connector to come out this hole as in pic below. Sticky tape fell off both sides despite wiping though. Used gorilla glue to help and otherwise all was fine. I'm a novice and it is do-able.
Routed the wiring harness through the existing grommet behind the left interior wall panel and then out the existing hold at the bottom of the protective cover.
Love the installation videos! Made installation a snap.
