2-Camera System

Sample applications of SH03

This 2-camera system is perfect for a variety of trailering applications in which 2 unique viewing angles are desired. For example, you could keep an eye on the horses inside your trailer. Or you could use the system to monitor your rig when towing a boat behind your fifth-wheel camper. The system is also ideal for agricultural jobs such as monitoring 2 filling silos. Each camera wirelessly transmits video to the hand-held monitor, and the entire system is battery powered - which means no complicated wiring is needed for installation. And, the cameras' place-and-point design lets you reposition them for each job.

Hitch Alignment Made Easy

The 2-camera Swift Hitch aligner doubles your view so you can quickly align your vehicle's hitch ball with your trailer's coupler. It eliminates trailer hookup headaches like getting in and out of your vehicle, relying on a spotter, and accidental collision.

Place the Swift Hitch camera on your tailgate and watch the monitor from your cab as you back-up

Using the system is easy. Attach one of the cameras to your tailgate or trailer - the magnetic base makes it simple to place the camera wherever you need it - and point it at your hitch ball. Hop in the driver's seat, and use the monitor to watch your progress as you back up your vehicle. No getting out of the truck to check, no deciphering the hand signals of your significant other, and no running out of patience. Once the hitch ball and coupler are aligned, all that's left to do is hookup and hit the road.

For gooseneck and fifth-wheel trailers, attach the camera to the back of your cab for a helpful look into the bed of your truck as you back up to the trailer.

Digital Transmission Without Interference

This system uses digital technology to transmit images from the camera to the monitor. Unlike wireless devices that use analog technology, this camera system does not pick up interference from other devices that use Bluetooth or WiFi. This means that you'll have a crisp, clear image of your hitch every time.

Night Vision Cameras with 10-Hour Battery Life

Each of the cameras has a 10-hour battery life, making them perfect for folks who tow frequently or for those who need to monitor a job for a long period of time and don't want to spend a lot of time recharging the batteries.

Infrared lens on SH03 cameras

Seven infrared lights surround each camera's lens to provide up to 15' of night vision so you can get the job done in the dark. Night vision automatically activates in dim or dark conditions and turns off when lighting improves. When the cameras are using night vision, images are displayed in black and white on the monitor.

Rear view of the Swift Hitch SH03 cameras

Each camera is labeled with a number because they operate on two different channels. Camera 1 operates on channel 1, and camera 3 operates on channel 3. Camera 1 sends images to the monitor from up to 200', away and camera 3 transmits from up to 300' away. Each camera gives you a targeted, 55-degree viewing angle (horizontal and vertical).

Camera 1 comes with two antennas so that you can get optimal reception. The 2-5/8" antenna should be used on camera 1 for most applications where there is little to no obstruction blocking transmission. When camera 1 is obstructed, such as when inside an enclosed trailer, use the included 7-1/2" long extension antenna. You can route the extension antenna from the camera to an unobstructed area using the included 9' cable. The extension antenna has a magnetic base for easy set-up.

The back of each camera has an on/off button, an LED light, and a jack for the charging cable. The LED light changes color to signal when the camera is on (green), when it's charging while the power is on (yellow), and when it's charging while the power is off (red).

Place-and-Point Design

The Swift Hitch SH03 camera has a magnetic base that attaches to your tailgate

Setting up each camera is as fast as place and point. First, place the camera's strong magnetic base on a metal surface. The magnetic base lets you easily remove and reposition the camera depending on the job - unlike a backup camera that's permanently mounted at the rear of your vehicle. Plus, the base has a smooth, non-scratch nylon backing.

The Swift Hitch SH03 camera has a rotating stem

Next, point the camera at your hitch ball or target. A stem with a rotating ball joint sits between the camera and the magnetic base. The stem smoothly rotates 360 degrees, allowing the camera to be pointed in any direction and hold its position.

A suction cup mount lets you mount the Swift Hitch SH03 camera to non-magnetic surfaces

One suction cup mount is also included (additional mount PM01 - sold separately). This triangular metal plate with 3 suction cups lets you mount the camera to a non-magnetic surface. Simply stick the suction cup mount onto the mounting surface and then place the camera's magnetic base on the plate.

If your application requires you to use the cameras while traveling, such as monitoring horses inside an enclosed trailer, the camera and extension antenna stand should be securely mounted. Pre-drilled holes let you mount the cameras and antenna stand using 1/8" screws or bolts with wing nuts (not included).

Water-Resistant Construction

The Swift Hitch SH03 camera is water resistant

The Swift Hitch cameras were constructed with water resistance in mind so that you can hitch up in any weather. A sealed plastic barrier on the front of each camera covers the infrared lights to shield them from water, and an attached cap back covers the charging port. The housing hangs over the lens like an awning to protect it from the rain. Plus, the body, stem, and base of each camera are made of durable, rustproof aluminum, and the exterior has a UV-resistant coat of bright yellow paint.

A clear plastic cap protects the rear of the Swift Hitch SH03 camera from water

One clear plastic cap is included (additional cap PB04 - sold separately) to protect one camera's rear end from rain or other inclement weather, particularly when the lens is pointed at your hitch ball. The cap fits snugly onto the back of the camera. The on/off button can be pressed while the cap is on, but the cap will have to be removed when you want to plug in the charging cable.

Hand-Held Monitor with Full-Color LCD Screen

The Swift Hitch SH03 hand-held monitor

The hand-held monitor features a 2-1/2", high-resolution LCD screen that displays crisp, clear full-color pictures (images appear in black and white while camera is operating in night vision). Video is displayed in mirror image by default to give you the same viewpoint as your rearview mirror, but this setting can be switched to non-mirror image if you prefer. The monitor has a battery life of up to 4 hours when fully charged. It is recommended that the monitor battery be fully charged before first use.

To turn the monitor on or off, hold down the button on the front for 3 - 5 seconds. To switch the display from mirror-image view to non-mirror-image view, press the button quickly. An LED indicator light changes color to signal when the monitor is on (green), when it's charging while the power is on (yellow), and when it's charging while the power is off (red). The light flashes when the unit is in the non-mirror-image setting so you know what perspective you've got on the display.

A toggle button located on the side of the monitor lets you quickly change the channel between the 2 cameras. The included video-out cable plugs into the side of the monitor so that you can transfer images to a larger screen or a recording device.

The Swift Hitch SH03 monitor mounted to a dash

The lightweight, durable plastic unit has a contoured shape so that it is easy to hold in one hand. For dash mounting, two 7/8" hook-and-loop strips (similar to Velcro) with adhesive backing are included. Or you can use the Swift Hitch windshield mount kit (sold separately) to keep the monitor easily within view.

Wireless, Portable System

This portable, completely wireless system is simple to set up and convenient to use. It does not need to be hardwired to your vehicle, nor does it rely on your vehicle's battery to work. Instead, it uses radio frequency to transmit video from the cameras to the monitor and it is powered by rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. There's no permanent installation or drilling required, so the system can go anywhere you go - from the jobsite to the campsite, from your work truck to your SUV.

The included 12-volt DC cable lets you charge the monitor and one of the cameras or both cameras simultaneously. An AC-to-DC adapter (sold separately) can be used to charge the system from a 110-volt AC wall outlet.

Video Transcript for Swift Hitch Backup Cameras and Alarms - Hitch Alignment Camera Systems - SH03D Review

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the Swift Hitch digital wireless hitch alignment system. The hitch alignment system makes it easy to back your tow vehicle up to your trailer for hookup. It simplifies lining up your hitch ball with your coupler. It's perfect for hitching up goose necks, fifth wheels and snow plow blades, and it can also be used as a backup camera and a monitoring device. Now, the unit comes with two cameras, so that way you can see in two different places at the same time. It provides two views for hooking up your trailer, or to monitor a different area of your towing setup, or even to monitor your cargo area. It would be great for a horse trailer.

The portable cameras mount wherever you need them. They can be easily removed or repositioned. Each camera features a nice rotating stem, lets you point the camera in nearly any direction. On the bottom there's magnets, so that way you can put it on to a metal surface, and it holds itself in place. It also comes with one suction cup mount, so you can install it that way as well, and it can be permanently installed as two pre-drilled holes on the bottom of each base, and it comes with installation hardware if you choose to do that option. Now, this wireless system is easily transportable from job to job, and from vehicle to vehicle.

There's no permanent installation or wiring required. It also features night vision that lets you see up to 15 feet away in the dark. Each camera has infrared lights that are built into the front of the camera, and that automatically turns on and off in dark or dim lighting. The handheld monitor has a two and a half inch, full color, high resolution LCD screen. On this side we have a toggle button that lets you usually change the view from one camera to the other, and it does offer mirror image viewing display, and that's going to display the objects as they would appear in a rear view mirror. As you switch between each camera, it's going to let you see each camera's battery status and signal strength.

In this bag right here, it comes with two hook and loop pads, which are very similar to Velcro, and that's just for an optional dash mounting of your monitor. On this side we have an LED indicator, lets us know that the unit is on, and we have our charging port. On this side we have a video out jack. This lets us transmit images to an external monitor, or recording device and the cable to do that is included. The cameras are water resistant. They're made of rust proof aluminum with a UV resistant painted exterior. The system uses rechargeable lithium ion batteries to power the cameras and monitor.

Also comes with your 12-volt DC charging cable. Plugs into a 12-volt accessory outlet, or a cigarette lighter outlet. And then it's a split connector, so that way you can charge two devices at one time. In this bag it also comes with an extra fuse. So, there's a fuse installed already, and it comes with a backup when needed. Also, want to point out that this unit comes with two antennas, so on camera one, has a sticker right there. It's built into the back already. On camera two these antennas simply screw into the connection point, so it comes with a short one. This allows the camera to be used in close unobstructed range of the receiver, and then it comes with a longer one with an extension cable. This one allows the camera to be placed in an obstructed location, and then the antenna can be routed to an area where it's unobstructed. It is FCC certified. When it comes to the transmission distance, we're looking at 200 to 300 feet, so plenty of distance for this system. On the cameras we're looking at a 10 hour maximum life with the batteries when fully charged, and it requires about four hours to get them fully charged. Viewing angle is 55 degrees horizontally and vertically. Overall dimensions per camera, front to back, it measures about three and five-eighths of an inch long, not including the antenna, that's just the housing, by about one and one-eighth of an inch wide, by about three and three-eighths of an inch tall. The base right here measures two and one-quarter inches by one and five-eighths of an inch. The distance between those mount holes, center on center, is one and nine-sixteenths of an inch, and then right here for the suction cup mount, it takes up about five and three-eighths of an inch from edge of suction cup to edge of suction cup going in a triangular pattern. The monitor has a four hour maximum life when fully charged, that requires about two to two and a half hours to get it fully charged. We do recommend fully charging it for first time use. This measures three and one-eighth of an inch wide, by five and one-eighth of an inch tall, by an inch and a quarter inaudible 00:04:52 deep. We're going to go ahead and turn on the system. That way you can see how it all looks. So, to turn on the monitor you just hold down that power button. I already have the monitor on. And on the back side of each camera, you'll notice that it has the charging port, and then it has the on and off button. So, you push that, LED light comes on letting us know that it's on. We'll do that same thing here on our other camera.I want to bring you closer in on this monitor. So, I have my cameras set up, and so the monitor right here is displaying what camera two sees, and then I'll hit that toggle switch and it goes over to the other camera. So, it's a really nice, easy to use design, and then up in this corner it displays the battery and the signal strength. Nice click response time as well. It's kind of a nice comfortable grip to it as well. It's very easy to hold on to and to operate and control. And that's going to do it for today's look at the Swift Hitch digital wireless hitch aligner system.

Ask the Experts about this Swift Hitch Backup Cameras and Alarms

Do you have a question about this Backup Cameras and Alarm?

  • Wireless Portable Backup Cameras that Can be Moved Between Semi Trucks
  • Yes, I have a great backup camera option for you. Take a look at the Swift Hitch backup camera # SH02DIGITAL. The camera part does come with a magnet mount so there is no permanent installation required. It has an 8 hour battery life and features night vision. I have linked a video review for you. There is also a 2-camera system if you need more than 1 angle, # SH03D. The batteries on both of these systems are rechargeable. We have a similar system, # RVS-83112, but the camera for...

  • Do Any Wireless Observation Camera Systems Integrate with OEM Vehicle Dashboard Display
  • Although we do offer many brands and styles of backup/observation camera systems these are all either complete free-standing systems that have their own monitor or they are designed to use a smartphone as the display. None of the aftermarket camera systems we offer are designed to integrate with OEM vehicle displays. This is a good question that is asked often. The system I tend to recommend for owners of longer travel trailers is the SwiftHitch # SH03D wireless dual camera system with...

  • Recommended Camera System for Use with Truck Camper and Horse Trailer
  • Since you have both a slide-in truck camper and also a horse trailer what I suggest to give you the best possible visibility is a wireless 2-camera system. The Swift Hitch Wireless Digital Camera System # SH03D features two cameras that you can position where you need them (say, one on the camper and one inside the horse trailer) and includes night-vision capability. The hand-held monitor will let you keep an eye on the horses even while you're tucked inside the camper at night and the...

  • We have a couple of options that might work out well for you. The Swift hitch line is very versatile and they have a long wireless transmission range (range is diminished with obstacles between the camera and monitor). For a single camera system we have # 04928 and the water resistant version is # SH02DIGITAL. And then there is a two camera system with relay antenna for more than 1 view using 1 monitor, # SH03D. All three of these systems have night vision cameras. The cameras can either...

  • Does External Antenna Have to be Used for Swift Hitch Back Up Camera System SH03
  • The camera with the short antenna for camera system # SH03D has a transmission distance of 200 feet if the path from the camera to the monitor is unobstructed. A 40 foot trailer should not be a problem. The second camera and the antenna would allow you to put the camera where it would otherwise have the signal obstructed but you do not have to use it. It does come with a shorter antenna as well that mounts directly to the back of the second camera.

  • Backup Camera Recommendation to See Behind 5th Wheel Trailer
  • The Swift Hitch camera, # 04928, would work but you would want to mount it at the top rear of the 5th wheel trailer in order to receive and maintain a signal. The problem with that is you have to manually turn the camera on so having it up high would make doing so difficult. I recommend version # SH03D which is a 2 camera system but it comes with an antenna so that the signal will be stronger to the in-cab monitor. That way you can mount the camera in an easy to reach place and not worry...

But if you did have 2 cameras you could use one monitor for both but would have to manually plug in the one you wanted to view. Your best option is going to be a door mount such as # 11650 or # WM6600. I have linked video reviews of both mirrors for you. • For your 2016 Ford F-350 and 5th wheel trailer I recommend the Rear View Safety backup camera system # RVS-611-IR. Your GPS device would have to accept the 5-pin round connector on the cables used in this system in order to work with the GPS monitor. Otherwise I recommend a system that comes with its own monitor such as # SH03D. Both of these systems have night vision capabilities.

  • Towing Mirrors and Camera System for Better Visibility when Towing with a 2016 Ford F-150
  • The K-Source towing mirrors # KS3891-2 will fit on most mirrors that are 4-1/2" to 11-1/2" tall and that have a lip or gap between the factory housing and the glass. If the mirrors on your 2016 Ford F-150 match that description then you can use them. You may want to consider a camera system for even greater visibility. We have a 2-camera system that would be great for your application, # SH03D. With it you get 2 cameras and a monitor and you can place the cameras wherever you want! One...

  • Recommendation for Backup Cameras on Back of Truck and Back of Trailer
  • Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera and Hitch Aligner System Item # HM50002 only has one input so to add a second system it would require a complete new system. What I recommend is to use Swift Hitch Wireless Hitch Aligner System w Monitor, 2 Cameras - Night Vision - 10-Hr Camera Battery Item # SH03D which is a wireless, 2-camera system that will allow you to switch between the 2 different views from the cameras. I have included a link to a video review of this system for you.

  • Two Camera Swift Hitch Setup with Longer Battery Life
  • We have a Swift Hitch setup that comes with two cameras and a single monitor like you are looking for that has a 10 hour battery life like you are wanting as well. For that you'd want the part # SH03D. There isn't a way to remotely turn the camera off and on though. If you permanently mount the base of the camera you can pop the ball socket from the base out so that you can then take the camera back and charge it.

  • Difference Between the Swift Hitch Digital Wireless Hitch Alignment Systems
  • The Swift Hitch Digital Wireless Hitch Alignment Systems save for the part # 04928 (SH01) all use the same camera. The only difference is in regards to the number of cameras included, battery life, and monitor type. The SHO1 system uses an analog system as opposed to a digital system on the other three. The Swift Hitch Digital Wireless Hitch Alignment System part SH02 was replaced by the part # SH02DIGITAL which comes with one camera, has an 8 hour battery life, and uses its own monitor....

  • Recommended Night Vision Backup Camera System for 32-Foot Travel Trailer
  • For a substantial 32-foot trailer like yours I suggest the 2-camera system # SH03D from Swift Hitch. This wireless camera system allows you to switch between the two cameras' different views, it includes night vision which is great for those late-night campsite arrivals, and it includes a 2-1/2-inch, full-color, high-resolution LCD screen on it's monitor. Both the cameras and monitor are powered by rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. No need to continually purchase expensive disposable...

  • Can the Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera Part # HM50002 Work with 2 Cameras
  • I would run the video cable behind the carpet and plastic which will conceal the wiring. I included a installation video for you to look at too. Other than tape to attach your monitor, you could always permanently mount it instead. The tape is quite durable though. The best way to utilize a 2 camera system (front and back of your truck) is going with the Swift Hitch wireless 2 camera system part # SH03D. Another benefit of the Hopkins # SH03D is you can turn the cameras on or off...
