Hitch Alignment Made Easy

The Swift Hitch camera and monitor make it easy to hook-up your trailer

The Swift Hitch aligner gives you a second pair of eyes so you can quickly align your vehicle's hitch ball with your trailer's coupler. It eliminates trailer hookup headaches like getting in and out of your vehicle, relying on a spotter, and accidental collision. The camera wirelessly transmits video to the hand-held monitor, and both are battery powered - which means no complicated wiring is needed for installation. And the camera's place-and-point design lets you reposition it for each job.

Place the Swift Hitch camera on your tailgate and watch the monitor from your cab as you back-up

Using the system is easy. Attach the camera to your tailgate - the magnetic base makes it simple to place the camera wherever you need it - and point it at your hitch ball. Hop in the driver's seat, and use the monitor to watch your progress as you back up your vehicle. No getting out of the truck to check, no deciphering the hand signals of your significant other, and no running out of patience. Once the hitch ball and coupler are aligned, all that's left to do is hookup and hit the road.

For gooseneck and fifth-wheel trailers, attach the camera to the back of your cab for a helpful look into the bed of your truck as you back up to the trailer.

Not only can the Swift Hitch be used when hitching up, but it is also great for hooking up snowplow blades, for use as a backup camera, and for monitoring a variety of areas around your home, farm, or jobsite.

Digital Transmission without Interference

This system uses digital technology to transmit images from the camera to the monitor. Unlike wireless devices that use analog technology, this camera system does not pick up interference from other devices that use Bluetooth or WiFi. This means that you'll have a crisp, clear image of your hitch every time.

Night Vision Camera with 7-Hour Battery Life

The camera's 7-hour battery life gives you plenty of time to complete the job. The camera sends images to the monitor from up to 200' away and gives you a targeted, 55-degree viewing angle (horizontal and vertical).

Swift Hitch SH02 night vision camera with 5-hour battery

Seven infrared lights surround the camera lens to provide up to 15' of night vision so you can get the job done in the dark. Night vision automatically activates in dim or dark conditions and turns off when lighting improves. When the camera is using night vision, images are displayed in black and white on the monitor.

Rear view of the Swift Hitch SH02 camera

The back of the camera has an antenna, an on/off button, an LED light, and a jack for the charging cable. The LED light changes color to signal when the camera is on (green), when it's charging while the power is on (yellow), and when it's charging while the power is off (red).

Place-and-Point Design

The Swift Hitch SH02 camera has a magnetic base that attaches to your tailgate

Setting up the camera is as fast as place and point. First, place the camera's strong magnetic base on a metal surface. The magnetic base lets you easily remove and reposition the camera depending on the job - unlike a backup camera that's permanently mounted at the rear of your vehicle. Plus, the base has a smooth, non-scratch nylon backing.

The Swift Hitch SH02 camera has a rotating stem

Next, point the camera at your hitch ball or target. A stem with a rotating ball joint sits between the camera and the magnetic base. The stem smoothly rotates 360 degrees, allowing the camera to be pointed in any direction and hold its position.

A suction cup mount lets you mount the Swift Hitch SH02 camera to non-magnetic surfaces

A suction cup mount is also included. This triangular metal plate with 3 suction cups lets you mount the camera to a non-magnetic surface. Simply stick the suction cup mount onto the mounting surface and then place the camera's magnetic base on the plate.

For some applications, such as monitoring horses inside an enclosed trailer, the camera can be mounted semi-permanently. Pre-drilled holes in the magnetic base let you mount the camera using two 1/8" screws or bolts with wing nuts (not included).

Water-Resistant Construction

The Swift Hitch SH02 camera is water resistant

The Swift Hitch camera was constructed with water resistance in mind so that you can hitch up in any weather. A sealed plastic barrier on the front covers the infrared lights to shield them from water, and an attached cap on the back covers the charging port. The camera's housing hangs over the lens like an awning to protect it from the rain. Plus, the body, stem, and base are made of durable, rustproof aluminum, and the exterior has a UV-resistant coat of bright yellow paint.

A clear plastic cap protects the rear of the Swift Hitch SH02 camera from water

A clear plastic cap is included to protect the camera's rear end from rain or other inclement weather, particularly when the lens is pointed at your hitch ball. The cap fits snugly onto the back of the camera. The on/off button can be pressed while the cap is on, but the cap will have to be removed when you want to plug in the charging cable.

Hand-Held Monitor with Full-Color LCD Screen

The Swift Hitch SH02 hand-held monitor

The hand-held monitor features a 2-1/2", high-resolution LCD screen that displays crisp, clear full-color pictures (images appear in black and white while camera is operating in night vision). Video is displayed in mirror image by default to give you the same viewpoint as your rearview mirror, but this setting can be switched to non-mirror image if you prefer. The monitor has a battery life of up to 11 hours when fully charged. It is recommended that the monitor battery be fully charged before first use.

To turn the monitor on or off, hold down the button on the front for 3 - 5 seconds. To switch the display from mirror-image view to non-mirror-image view, press the button quickly. An LED indicator light changes color to signal when the monitor is on (green), when it's charging while the power is on (yellow), and when it's charging while the power is off (red). The light flashes when the unit is in the non-mirror-image setting so you know what perspective you've got on the display.

The included video-out cable plugs into the side of the monitor so that you can transfer images to a larger screen or a recording device.

The Swift Hitch SH02 monitor mounted to a dash

The lightweight, durable plastic unit has a contoured shape so that it is easy to hold in one hand. For dash mounting, two 7/8" hook-and-loop strips (similar to Velcro) with adhesive backing are included. Or you can use the Swift Hitch windshield mount kit (sold separately) to keep the monitor easily within view.

Wireless, Portable System

This portable, completely wireless system is simple to set up and convenient to use. It does not need to be hardwired to your vehicle, nor does it rely on your vehicle's battery to work. Instead, it uses digital technology to transmit video from the camera to the monitor and it is powered by rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. There's no permanent installation or drilling required, so the system can go anywhere you go - from the jobsite to the campsite, from your work truck to your SUV.

The Swift Hitch SH02 camera, monitor, and included charging cable

The included 12-volt DC cable lets you charge both units simultaneously. An AC-to-DC adapter (sold separately) can be used to charge the system from a 110-volt AC wall outlet.

Convenient Storage and Carrying Case

The Swift Hitch SH02 inside a carrying caseThe carrying case for the Swift Hitch SH02

The Swift Hitch comes with its own zippered case so you can store the system when it's not in use. A foam insert helps to protect the system from damage. And a sturdy carrying handle lets you easily take this portable system with you from the jobsite to the campsite.

Video Transcript for Swift Hitch Backup Cameras and Alarms - Hitch Alignment Camera Systems - SH02DIGITAL Review

Today, we are going to take a look at the Swift Hitch Portable Digital Wireless Full-color Backup Camera System with Night Vision. When you do receive this from us, it will come in a box just like this. Once you open the box, you can pull off the storage case right here. It comes with this nice soft storage case. It has a foam interior to protect all the parts. We're going to go ahead open it up.

It comes with the instruction manual. You notice there is a foam with everything positioned in there. Here is the full-color monitor and that does come with the lithium-ion battery. Set that down there. Here is the camera and it has the weatherproof cover on the back to protect the antenna and the button from the weather. It does come with the 12V charge cable which allows you to charge it from your vehicle.

It also comes with a video-out cable that allows you to plug into your monitor and hook it to, if you want to record what's being videoed on there. It comes with a Velcro pad for the monitor. When you pull out the top portion of the foam on the very bottom, you will see there is a suction cup camera mount. What I am going to do is move the storage case out of the way, then we will talk about all these pieces. This is a portable wireless backup camera system that will now use interference free digital transmission, The interference freed operation means since it uses a digital technology to transmit images from your camera to your monitor, it eliminates any interference from devices that you might be using around it that use Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. You can use this as a hitch alignment system which will make it very easy to back your tow vehicle to your trailer for hook up.

It will simplify lining up the hitch ball with the cuplar. It's perfect for hitching up a gooseneck fifth wheel and even a snow plow blade. It can be used as a backup camera and a monitoring device also. Again, it is a wireless system. It is very easily transportable from job to job, vehicle vehicle. There is no permanent installation or wiring required.

The portable cameras, right here, will mount wherever you need it to. It can be easily removed or re-positioned. It has a rotating stem, as you can see right here. It turns in all different directions. It does have a magnet mount on the bottom, right here, that you can attach to like a tailgater or anything metal on the truck. If you want to mount it to where there is no metal, you can actually use the suction cup mount that is included. If you can see, it will mount right to that and then you can use the suction cup to mount it wherever you need to. The camera is a water resistant camera. It is made of rustproof aluminum, has a UV resistant painted exterior on it. The camera does have night vision. It lets you see up to about 15 feet away in the dark. The very front here you will notice there is infra-red lights all around the outer edge built. They are built in the front of the camera. It will automatically turn on and off in the dark or dim lighting, so you do not have to worry about any of that. The monitor itself is a handheld monitor. It has a 2 1/2 inch diagonal full-color high resolution LCD screen. It does show normal or verse images. It has an optional dash mounting with this hook and loop pad right here. The video-out jack and the cable will let you transmit images from your . Right over here, there is the video-out jack that you can plug this in and then plug it to a recording device. The rechargeable lithium ion battery will power the camera and monitor. The system works while charging and without being fully charged. It also has the 12V DC charging cable included that you can charge it from your vehicle. As we showed you earlier, the carrying case has a nice protective foam interior to help store your system. This part is FCC certified. The specs on this, the digital transmission distance is 300 feet. It does use the frequency of 2.4 GHz ISM frequency band, so there is no interference. The video-out cable length is about 56 inches. The 12V DC charging cable length is about 37 inches. On the camera, the battery of the camera has about a 7 hour maximum life when it is fully charged and it takes about 4 hours to fully charge it from being dead. Again, the viewing angles, as you can see, is about 55 degrees horizontally and vertical. The monitor, the battery on that, this batter right here, the lithium-ion battery is about 11 hours maximum life when it is fully charged. It takes about 2 hours to fully charge it. Every time when you first open the box up for the first time, you do want to fully charge it about 2 hours minimum. The dimensions are this, just to give you an idea, the width is about 3 1/8 inches wide, height is about 5 1/8 inches tall, and the depth on it is about 1 1/4 inches deep. Again, the screen is an LCD screen 2 1/2 inches diagonal. Resolution on that screen is about 960 x 240 DPI. Now, what I want to show you is we're going to put the battery into the monitor. I just want to show you how this works. Go ahead and line your terminals up there, push it into place. Go ahead and slide the cover back on to it. To turn it on, all you have to do is hold down the button for a couple seconds. When you do that, it will pop right on. What I'm going to do is let me try to zoom in here. Then what we are going to do is on the camera I'm going to have a coworker sort of walk around down here and then go outside just to show you light difference. There is a button right on the back, under the antenna, if you push down on that button, a green light will come on back here and that lets you know the camera is working and it will show the picture on the monitor. What we're going to do is hand off the camera to my coworker. I'm going to zoom in into there, so we can see the picture. He's got it turned on. What I'm going to do is go ahead and give us a better view is we're going to go ahead and turn off the overhead lights. You can see as he is walking, it picks up the different light and adjust to that condition. He's going to go out the back doors into the parking lot. You will see when he goes outside, it adjust automatically. You can see as he is walking around, you can see the full-color on the LCD screen. There is the outside. Again, he is probably a good 30 feet or more away and it is still picking up a very good picture. He's coming back and you can see it adjusts to indoor light. He's heading back over to our area here. I'm going to go ahead and turn on the back the overhead headlights, just to give you an idea. Then just to turn this off, just hold this down a few seconds and it will turn off. Same way on the camera itself, when you push the button all the way down it will go off also and hold it down. That should do it for the review on the Swift Hitch Portable Digital Wireless Full-color Backup Camera System with the Night Vision.

The SH02Digital backup camera was exactly as advertised by etrailer.com. It was even more than expected. I set up the camera on my vehicle after charging the monitor and camera as instructed in the manual and walked down my street with the monitor to see how far it would transmit a clear image. Wow! I'm sure I was about 300 feet plus away from the camera. I then walked around my house until the image stopped. It was amazing the image transmitted through my house which is about forty feet. The delivery only took a few days and the packaging was excellent. I would highly recommend this backup camera to my friends. 567568

I bought this unit to be able to see my boat that’s towed behind my camper going highway speeds. The service and speed of the folks at ETrailer is 2nd to none ! The unit works great and everything is just as was shown. I have not used it behind the camper yet but did hook it to my tailgate and the video worked traveling 62 MPH crystal clear . Will send pics when all is hooked up. Thanks ETrailer 504049

Works well, seems to be very solidly built. What's nice is that you can place it on the SUV tailgate, looking down....makes hitch alignment a breeze...!! (The "license-plate" type back up cams are too low, don't give a good view) Nothing to set-up or calibrate, one charger for camera and monitor, ready to go...! It even fits my cell-phone holder, see pics....! My only suggestion to the manufacturer would be to include a wall charger, household 120 v. 485401

Easy to set up and use. Image quality is excellent. I mounted it on the back window of my F150 to see the gooseneck hitch. Once you get close to the hitch the view is excellent, but the field of view is inadequate for rear window mounting for a short bed with gooseneck hitch. The problem is you cannot see the gooseneck until it is too close to the hitch to do much correction. The F150 has aluminum bed, so magnet does not work. I will have to make a camera mount that I can place low in the back of the bed to solve the field of view problem. A local accessory dealer has put these on boat trailers for years, and reports that they hold up very well. Product is exactly as advertised and quality seems excellent. 289371

I just used this camera for the first time. It was wonderful. I backed up right under the hitch. So much better than jumping in and out of the vehicle like I used to do. I would highly recommend this camera. 240787

  • Although many of the camera systems we offer might be modified or altered in some way that would allow the camera to mount to the inside of the rear window glass, none of them are designed to mount that way directly out of the box. My best recommendation for a camera-type solution would be the Swift Hitch Portable Wireless Camera System, available with a 4-hour battery, part # 04928 or a 10-hour battery, as part # SH02DIGITAL. Both systems are rechargeable and the cameras can be temporarily...

  • Replacement Camera and Monitor Battery for Swift Hitch Camera SH02DIGITAL
  • The monitor battery for the Swift Hitch part # SH02DIGITAL is the part # PB01 which shouldn't have affected the camera assemblies powering on. But the replacement battery for the camera is then # PB06. Is it possible it was the camera battery that had the problem and you replaced the wrong one?

  • Back Up Camera Recommendation for Assisting Gooseneck Trailer Hitch Up
  • For a wireless camera that would work great to view the gooseneck ball of your trailer as you hitch up I would recommend the Swift Hitch part # SH02Digital. This camera works very well and is less prone to interference when compared to other wireless cameras.

  • Wireless Camera Recommendation for Rear Of Camper Towing a Boat
  • We have two completely wireless options that would work well for you. The first would be the SwiftHitch Portable Camera w/ Night Vision, part # SH02DIGITAL. This wireless system the camera uses has a 300 foot range which will be reduced somewhat by the trailer, but it would be an excellent choice for the rear of your camper. The batteries will last up to 10 hours. If you have an Andriod or iOS smart phone, Rampage offers the Wireless Backup Camera System, part # RA7710. The camera would...

  • Recommended Back-Up Camera for Backing 5th Wheel Camper
  • I'd recommend the Swift Hitch Portable camera system, part # SH02DIGITAL. The system is truly wireless, and has night vision capability, out to about a 15 foot distance from the camera, which would be very useful when parking the fifth wheel at night. The camera has both a magnetic and a suction cup mount, and can also be attached to your pin box to make lining up the king pin and the funnel of your fifth wheel hitch during hitching much easier. Over the years, we've found that mounting...

  • Can a Larger Monitor be Used with Switch Hitch Digital Backup Camera # SH02Digital
  • There isn't a larger monitor specifically for backup camera # SH02Digital but you can run the video feed out to a different monitor if you wanted to. I have included a link to a video review of this backup camera system for you.

  • Backup Camera Recommendation with 2 Cameras for a 5th Wheel Trailer
  • When towing a 5th wheel trailer it can be a chore or even impossible to get a good view behind or to the sides of the trailer. That is why I recommend the Swift Hitch 2 camera system # SH03D. You can mount the two cameras where you need them along with the relay antenna for a better signal from the furthest camera and view the video from the same monitor which is included. I have linked a video review of this system for you.

  • Recommended Wireless Backup Camera System For Aluminum 5Th Wheel Trailer
  • We have just what you are looking for. I recommend the Swift Hitch Digital Wireless Hitch Alignment Camera and Monitor, part # SH02Digital for your fifth wheel trailer. This system features night vision and is perfect for fifth wheel trailers. It has digital technology so you do not get any interference from any devices that use Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. The system has a hand-held monitor, or you can get a Windshield Mount And Vent Holder, part # PC03, that is sold separately. This system...

  • What is Video-Out Connection For On the Swift Hitch Wireless Camera System # SH02
  • I spoke with my contact at Swift Hitch and they said the Swift Hitch Wireless Camera System, part # SH02DIGITAL, that comes with the video-out connection is for somebody that would like to plug in a cable to view the camera image on a larger screen. The video-out jack is a standard video cable size and would need to be ran to the video-in jack of the larger monitor you will be using for viewing. I do not carry any cables that would work, but they said a standard video cable can be purchased...

  • Loss in Signal on Highway with the Swift Hitch Digital Wireless Hitch Aligner System
  • The extension antenna that is included with the Swift Hitch Digital Wireless Hitch Aligner System part # SH03D will more than likely help to improve the signal while traveling. However, you cannot add a camera from this system to your Swift Hitch Digital Wireless Hitch Alignment System part # SH02DIGITAL. I would try to reposition the camera and monitor on the system you have now but if the signal is still interrupted, then your only option would be replacement. I spoke to my contact...

  • Backup Camera Systems with Night Vision to Hook Up to Trailer at Night
  • The Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera # HM50002 does not have night vision but I can tell you from experience that when I backed up the reverse lights of the vehicle provided adequate illumination for the camera and I could see well. Camera systems that have night vision or that have a light that can be turned on and off include the following: # RA7710 # 04928 # SH02Digital # SH03D I recommend the entry level Swift Hitch camera # 04928 because you will get great performance...
