Video Transcript for Rear View Safety Inc Backup Cameras and Alarms RVS-770619N Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Rear View Safety Backup System. This backup camera system is designed to increase the awareness of what's behind your vehicle. It's going to help safely detect people and/or objects which is going to help avoid damage or injury. Please keep in mind that this mirror does not have a reflective glass to be used as a rear view mirror. The unit comes with a mirrored monitor. It's going to come with a water-proof backup camera and it's going to come with a 3 channel control unit. The kit also comes with the necessary mounting hardware.

It's going to come with all the necessary wiring. It's even going to come with some split grommets to keep wire safe when passing through walls and to create a good seal around the openings. It's going to come with a wiring adapter for connecting a DVD player to the system, that would be camera input number 2. It's going to come with a remote control as well. To go over each 1 of the 3 main components we're going to start with the monitor. This is a 7 inch LCD digital color monitor that attaches to the windshield, replacing the existing rear view mirror in the vehicle.

It's got the bracket that would slide over the previously installed mounting anchor on the windshield for your rear view mirror. It's got the set 00:01:19 screw on there to get that firmly attached as well. It also features optional grid lines. It's going to have built in speakers here on the back side and all of the functions can be controlled with the on screen touch buttons. Right here you've got our menu options as well, or it can be adjusted or controlled using the included remote. Your backup camera is built with heavy duty metal.

It's going to feature a nice protective finish on the metal to keep it safe from rusting and corrosion. This is going to offer a viewing angle of 130 degrees and 600 TV lines, which means that you get the best quality image with no blind spots. It's going to feature 18 infrared lights. These are going to allow you to see up to 50 feet in the dark, so it's going to do great in low light conditions, so night vision there. There's going to be a piece of foam that goes around the lens that's going to guarantee no glare from the infrared lights. The camera features an IP69K waterproof rating. It's also going to feature shock and vibration resistance and aircraft grade cable connections.

It's going to come with the mounting bracket and necessary mounting hardware; it's all going to be int hat hardware bag. It also includes the shade right here to prevent glare. That's adjustable and you can see that the angle of the entire unit is adjustable as well. Now, your control unit, this is the brains of the system. Aluminum construction with a brush finish. It powers the system, it receives all camera feeds and sends them to the monitor. It's going to feature 3 inputs for multiple camera connections. Then again, camera 2 can be used to connect a camera or a DVD player. It's designed for 12 to 24 volt systems. It's going to feature separate trigger wires for each camera that's connected, so you're going to have this wiring harness that plugs and says the power in port. It is fuse protected, so it's going to have a fuse holder that's wired in, so that's an inline fuse holder. It's going to be a 3 amp fuse. Then you're going to have your separate wires right here, and each wire's going to be labeled. You're going to have your yellow is camera 1, white is camera 2, blue is going to be camera 3 which is the backup function. Black wire is ground and red wire is power. You're also going to have 3 switches right here. These are going to allow you to go from normal view to mirror image view. You're going to have a video out port and you're going to have a monitor port, which is already connected. That connects to the monitor wire, which are going to measure about 8 1/2 feet long, just got the connection point right here. Just plug into each other, creates a nice seal. Keeps them from coming disconnected and it keeps any dirt, moisture, grime, out of that connection point. The extension cable right here that runs from the camera to the control unit, this is going to measure around 66 feet long. The system can be wired to a particular function like the reverse lights, which would activate the camera every time the vehicle is put into the reverse gear. It can be wired to be powered on the entire time the vehicle's on. The camera and monitor can always be activated by manually pushing the power button on the monitor. This is in addition to utilizing the positive triggers on the control unit. It's also going to come with a detailed set of instructions. They do a great job of going over all the different ways to wire your system depending on if you're using 1 camera, 2 cameras or 3 cameras. What I want to do now is simply go ahead and hook it up to some power. That way you can get a good idea of how the unit's going to work. Basically, what we need to do is we have our camera plugged in to camera 3, which is going to be the backup function. Connect the power wire to that. Then again, our red wire is our power. Then our black wire is our ground. Here you can see I have the camera back towards me. It's got the grid lines on there. Really nice view, very easy to see. Again, 7 inch display, and then you're going to have your control button. You're going to have your volume up and down. You're going to have your menu button right there. That way you can adjust brightness, contrast, saturation, sharpness, turn. You can actually name your camera, or if you have different cameras connected. Trigger stores, trigger delay, distance, grid, grid position, auto power, and then you can reset if ever needed. Then each option just gives you the ability to really adjust this to fit the needs that you have for your application. It's going to come with this wire right here, so this would connect to the camera 2 connector, and it provides the connection points for if you want to attach a DVD player to the system. That's going to do it for today's look at the Rear View Safety Backup Camera System.
