. take a look at the Rear View Safety Wireless Hitch Camera. Now, this part will include everything shown here on the table. It includes the wireless camera, the full color monitor, nice instruction manual, and a piece of hook and loop fastener for alternate mounting. This small, magnetic, wireless camera makes it very quick and easy to hook up to your trailer. There's no wiring, it's just a plug in place system.

It's ready to use in under one minute. Basically you just attach your camera to your ball mount and then plug this into your twelve volt power supply and you'll have your monitor in your cab. I did happen to pull a ball mount with the ball on it just to try to give you a demonstration here. What you would do .. You can see that it attaches to the ball mount.

Just point it down towards the ball, and then again, plug this into your twelve volt power source. Turn on your monitor, and you'll be able to see to hitch up, makes it very easy to do. Now, this does use wireless connectivity, which is digital, provides an uninterrupted connection for distances up to seventy feet, because it uses a 2.4 gigahertz transmitter/receiver. The camera right here is battery operated, uses a nine volt battery. Now, I do have one in there for demonstration purposes. It does not come with a battery.

It has a nice, powerful, magnetic base, which can attach to the back of your vehicle or to the ball mount, like I showed you earlier. The camera right here is a hundred percent waterproof. It's rated IP68, which means it can withstand all weather elements, and the camera does have a hundred and twenty degree camera view. The camera will automatically shut off after fifteen minutes. Another nice feature is on the inside they have six automatic infrared night vision lights.

It will give you thirty feet of vision in the darkest night, and around that they use built in foam around the lens to prevent any glare from those infrareds. The monitor right here is three and a half inch size monitor. It gives you a great view of the ball and any surrounding areas, plugs straight into your cigarette lighter. It has a flexible shaft to adjust the monitor to where you need it mounted. What I'm going to do now is give you a demonstration on how this would work. Again, we're going to pull our ball mount back up. Then to turn on your camera what you want to do, there's a button right down here. You just push that button, hold it for three seconds and then release it, and you'll see a steady blue light comes on. That means your camera is ready to go. Go ahead and attach it to your ball mount, and again, loosen it up. Direct your camera down to the ball mount. Then on your monitor I have a twelve volt power supply here. I'm going to go ahead and plug this in. Once the monitor is all plugged in, there we go, there's a bottom button and a top button. The top button is for pairing and the bottom is on and off. It's the same way if you hold it for three seconds and release it. You can see then the picture comes on. Then you see once the picture's on, let me zoom in just a little bit, and you can see there's your picture from the camera of the hitch ball. Makes it very clear to see. Now, what I'm going to do is go ahead and turn off the overhead lights just to give you an idea of what it's going to look like. Now, down here it's pitch black and you can see with it pitch black down here you still have a good view of the hitch ball because of the infrared lights. Now I'll go ahead and turn the overhead lights back on and we'll go ahead and . Again, to turn this off, let me just zoom out here, just again hold that button for three seconds and it'll turn it off. On your camera, again just hold the button three seconds and it'll turn the camera off. What's really nice on this is you can go back, pop this right onto your ball mount, go in, hitch up, go back, remove it from your ball mount, and you're all ready to go. Very simple, quick and easy. That should do it for the review on the Rear View Safety Wireless Hitch Camera.

Had it for a year now. If you have an older vehicle this is your back-up solution. Instead of 3 to 5 tries to line-up on your hitch, this thing can do it after 1 or 2 attempts by yourself. Something a built in camera cant do is that you can put the camera on your trailer and alighn yourself from the trailer view. Or in backing use it to watch the wall you are backing up to. For the price and an occasional 9volt battery - you cant beat it.

I needed a backup camera for ram pu. you can't see bumper or dump trailer hitch. The mirrors don't work. Most of time 99% of time I'm by myself. So a camera was the answer. This one was the one I needed,it had a nite vision and color in daylight. With the magnetic base I can put it on tailgate and see all . Monitor just plugs in 12v assorey . its portable I can use on tractor also. used it twice so far and it's Great.

I just received my hitch camera and so far I am impressed with the quality and appearance. I tested it out on my truck and it took less than a minute to stick the camera on the tailgate and plug the monitor into my power socket and power it on. The image was crystal clear and I think it will make lining up my trailer hitch so much easier without a spotter. The real test will come when I put it to use over and over and see how it holds up. So far I am a happy camper.

After using this camera over the past year, I am still very satisfied with it. It has held up extremely well and I would highly recommend it.

Other than a factory install this is the best option for a cargo camera. The only hitch was that the magnetic mount does not stick to the new Ford aluminum bodies. I mounted a steel plate to the bed cover and once it is folded up place the camera on it. I have a 5th wheel hitch and it is in a perfect position for hitching the trailer.

The camera and display work very well. Can get the ball right under the hitch in one shot. I am very happy with it!

Worked perfectly out of the box. The magnet holds onto the liftgate of my Honda Pilot, and it works fine for backing up to the trailer, however it wouldn't be powerful enough to leave in place (which it isn't designed to do anyhow). The display unit it bright and clear, and when the camera is placed directly behind the ball, you get an excellent reference to putting it right under the coupler, making hooking up a breeze. The battery for the camera is a tight fit, and I'm hoping the battery clip leads don't chafe. Overall a great product so far.

This is a Christmas gift, so I haven’t had a opportunity to view or use this device. I have several trailers and backing up to the hitch means jumping in and out of the truck numerous times. Since my older truck ( 1979 F 150) does not have backup cameras this will be a great addition. The gift is for me and I’m anxiously awaiting Christmas.

Unfortunately, this device does not live up to it's billing. Apparently the signal strength is very weak, and/or the update rate is so slow it's basically useless! I have a full size dually truck with an 8 foot bed - that I use to carry a truck camper. The intent was to use this device from inside the cab to help me back up to connect my trailer while the camper is in the truck obstructing my view. Either the camera stops transmitting or the receiver/monitor stops updating - and while backing up to hook up my boat - that's a huge problem!! The monitor shows the tongue of the trailer is not even in view yet, and then I hit the trailer tongue!! Not good at all!!

I love my camera. Its very easy to use. The picture is pretty good, just takes a little getting used to. Makes hooking my trailer by myself quick and easy.. Can even use it in my horse trailer to watch my animals while hauling. Very happy with my purchase.

Great hitch cam. Very easy to set up. Took less than 5 minutes from opening the package until I was viewing the area behind my truck. This camera will save a lot of trips back and forth hitching up to my camper and backing the trailer into places. I was also very impressed with the customer communications from etrailer. They keep me in the loop from the order date through to the delivery date. Thank you for the great service. I will be ordering more stuff from you guys!

Great! I was surprised how easy it is to move it from one tow vehicle to another and the signal range off the camera. My only wish is that the screen could be a inch large so it is easier for old eyes to see.

Worth Every Penny. Ever had to get out of your truck more than 6 times to perfectly line up your hitch to your ball? Well, once you get this system down pat you may only need to check it once or twice before dropping your hitch on the ball. It's as good as having a helper line you up, but no need to train them in hand signals. I'd recommend this to my friends and already have to some. Recommendation: Back up slowly to your hitch. You never know when it might be too high and damage your truck before you realize whats happening. I mount my camera below the tailgate latch for better horizontal alignment to ball. Also, start your camera before your in-cab monitor for fast pairing.

Its been a year now, and Ive learned to change the camera 9v battery if it wont connect in cab. Every time I do this were back to like new live video of the hitch alignment. Enjoy.

Just bought this for a Xmas gift. Tested it out quickly. Kept the camera in my garage and backed up the car. Was able to get good reception about 70 feet away, even after closing the garage door. The picture is clear and should easily aid in lining up the hitch and trailer toungue. Can’t speak of longevity yet, but will update sometime next year.

Update after a year... still works great. Used about 10 times this summer to hook up a camper trailer. Works great!!

Being a solo traveler with my travel trailer, my backup camera works like a charm. Once I have it properly aligned with my hitch, two tries at the most is all I need to make the connection. Comes in especially useful when I need to hook up in a hurry because of approaching high winds. Best addition that i’ve made to my camping experience.

Simple set up and works great. I have multiple trucks and trailers and this works great to move from truck to truck or trailer to trailer when hooking up doubles.

I just received this camera today so I have't had the opportunity to use it yet. I gave it 5 stars already before using it. I have the confidence in etrailer and their products to give it 5 stars prior to use. Everything I have ever gotten from them have has been class A products and always works without errors. I have every bit of confidence in etrailer and the products they sell. They're quick to fill the order as well as to ship them. I've never waited more than a week on anything ordered regardless the size of the item. Because of their excellent customer service , I will continue to buy from etrailer as long as they have what I need. Excellent place to buy online.

It worked great for awhile. Then it quit. Turn it on and in about 5 seconds it goes off. Changed batteries and the same thing. But I came up with a better way for hooking up then the camera.

My sole purpose for getting this unit was to facilitate hooking up my travel trailer. In that role, it has performed well. It has saved me many trips from the driver's seat to the hitch. I did try using it once on the back of my 29' travel trailer to assist backing into a campsite. The refresh rate seemed to be problematically slow, so if using it near the limits of its range, do so with caution. For my original intended purpose, though, it's a great product at that price point. Be sure you have a "cigarette lighter-type" socket in an appropriate place for the screen to plug in and a place for the camera that will accommodate its magtetic base.

- RVS-83112
by:

Works really well when it works. I've been having an issue with the camera turning off after a few minutes and won't come back on. The picture is very clear and shows everything you need to see to hook up your trailer.

- RVS-83112
by:

Helpful but not perfect. First off, be sure of your mounting surface for the camera. The back hatch of my Suburban is not metal (for the magnet mount) so I had to rig up a velcro system. The camera view takes some getting use to, but since I don't hitch up very often, it's still hard to tell when I'm right over the ball. The monitor needs to be in the power outlet a bit before its usable. I guess it's charging. The wireless system is great though.

- RVS-83112
by:

Just what I was looking for totally wireless. Bought to use to hook up my two goose neck trailers. Also can use to hook up trailers up to my Jeep.

- RVS-83112
by:

Great picture! Easy to use. I use for backing pickup back to my travel trailer and also when backing travel trailer back to my fence. Only thing that could be better is a bracket of some kind to place it directly above the ball.

- RVS-83112
by:

Good camera for the price. Not real smooth motion but plenty good enough to connect my trailers. Even gets pic when I put it on rear of 30 foot toy hauler to back in. Who I would like to compliment is the etrailer staff. Had a small complaint that I found it was not products fault and when I stated to the etrailer representative she was very adamant to let me know if the company did not help me to contact her back personally and she would take care of it. turns out my brand new battery had good voltage but would not hold up under load. Anyway I will not hesitate to buy from etrailer again. Great service and Great company

- RVS-83112
by:

This is a great product once the monitor pairs up with the camera. I travel solo and the lens on the backup camera on my pickup is offset about 3 inches to the side of the tailgate handle. It has been trial and error to back up to my camper hitch until I purchased this wireless backup camera. I takes a little getting used to the small screen and pairing the two units was a bit tricky. That said, the magnet on the camera base is strong and the color screen is very helpful.

- RVS-83112
by:

Nice camera. I picked this one out of three that was able to work with my 1996 Chevy Dually Truck. I picked it because I could use it on my other trucks when hooking up a trailer. Very easy to set up and use

- RVS-83112
by:

This is a great poduct and i wish I had purchased it years ago. It would have save me several times over from damaged tail gates to backing into trailers. I highly recommend this product it is very easy to install just add a 9 volt battery plug it into the cig liter plug and turn it on.

  • Recommended Observation System for Enclosed Car Hauler to Monitor Traffic
The Rear View Safety Wireless Hitch Camera # RVS-83112 is a good camera, but it is not the best system for monitoring the traffic behind you as it is intended for simply connecting to the trailer. My recommendation for an observation system like you are seeking is the Rear View Safety Wireless Backup Camera System - Cigarette Lighter Adapter # RVS-091406.
