Video Transcript for Rear View Safety Inc Backup Cameras and Alarms - Backup Camera Systems - RVS-091406 Review

Today we're going to take a look at the rear view safety wireless back-up camera system with the cigarette light adapter. This is a convenient and easy installation with the digital wireless back-up camera system. This back-up camera system is going to be installed as a supplement aid to your standard rear view mirror that already exists in your vehicle. The 4.3 sized monitor will connect straight to your cigarette lighter, comes with a nice suction cup mount for easy mounting. This part will include everything shown here on the table. It includes the monitor with the 12-volt power plug, the monitor mount, the back-up camera, the transmitter, the power cable, piece of double sided tape for the transmitter to mount to with, and a product installation manual. The monitor is a size 4.3 TFT LCD color monitor.

This will plug into your vehicle's 12-volt accessory outlet for power. The mount is a nice easy suction cup mounting, and if you'll notice the mount has many different positions you can put it in. If you just loosen this handle right here, you can see that it'll rotate. This will move up or down, so variable positions you could put it in. The way this suction works is, you see this lever right here If you push down on it, it'll form a suction to hold it into place, and flip it up to release it. You'll see this the way it attaches to the monitor, you just slide this right up in there and then tighten this large thumb screw down and it'll hold the monitor to the mount and then do all your adjustments.

Now the monitor itself has distance grid lines on it to let you know how close you are to an object. Now those grid lines are optional, they can be turned on or off. The wireless back-up camera, that's this right here, this will connect to your clearance light circuit in your vehicle. This has a 130 degree viewing angle. It is a digital wireless connection, which guarantees no interference up to 70 feet so that you get the best picture all the time. Also includes nine infrared lights in it to provide night vision up to 30 feet in total darkness.

The camera is IT68 rated, which means it keeps out dirt and moisture, and it is shock resistant with a 10G impact vibration rating. The transmitter right here with the antenna connector will connect to your vehicle's reverse light circuit. So what I'm going to do now, is I'm gonna go ahead and plug it into a 12-volt power supply. I just want to show you how the monitor looks. Now when you plug it in, you'll notice there's a red light that shows you have power and then what you'll need to do to turn the system on- there's a middle button right here, you just hold that middle button down for about three seconds. One, two, three.

Now you'll see your picture comes on. We're gonna zoom in here, and if we zoom in enough, there you can see the grid lines. The grid lines they are in color, the greens are farthest away, the yellow as you get closer, the red when you get too close. As I mentioned, you can take those off the screen if you don't want to see the grid lines. Go ahead and zoom back out. I'll go ahead and detach it from our power supply. That should do it for the review on the rear view safety wireless back-up camera system with the cigarette lighter adapter.

Rear View Safety Wireless Backup Camera System - Cigarette Lighter Adapter - RVS-091406

Greg, the salesman, recommended this unit. I received it in two days. I wanted to pull my boat behind my camper and be able to see it. The unit was relatively easy to install (even for a 74 year old). I wired it to the running lights so it would transmit full time when the running lights are on. It does a great job. Thanks Greg! 562669

Still working great!

- RVS-091406

It is good when it works! It works for about 10% of the time and then cuts out and goes blue. I am only going 24' with it and have moved the transmitter to 5 different positions in the trailer and still same out come. Will be returning and going to a wired system that i hope is better! 861284

- RVS-091406

Works 80% of the time. sometimes when I put my truck in reverse, the rearview camera does not come on. I usually have to recycle the on off button. Otherwise, it works as advertised. 818891

- RVS-091406

Terrible product, it’s probably more distracting having the monitor on the dash because it is always turning off and on from losing the signal. I have tried moving the transmitter to different locations to try to get it to work better, with no luck. I wish there was a way to return this worthless product, but I am past the return date. I would not recommend this product. 817610

- RVS-091406

I like this backup camera. I use it to monitor my boat trailer, which I pull behind my 33' 5th wheel trailer. The only negative I have found is the somewhat limited wireless range, between the sending unit and the monitor. Even though it claims there is no interference up to 70', my signal experiences periodic cutout when traveling on the road. I have the sending unit at the rear of my 33' trailer, which I pull with a quad cab Dodge with a 8' bed. I still wouldn't travel without it, but it can be annoying at times. 804345

So far so good. 801368

It was the item I ordered, sent very quickly and at the price listed. Thank you 326270

Ask the Experts about this Rear View Safety Inc Backup Camera

  • Camera System Options that Use the Factory Ram Uconnect Monitor
Yes, we do have camera systems that you can use with the Uconnect system in what I can only assume is a Ram truck. For this, the only confirmed option we have is a truck bed camera like the Truck Bed Cargo Camera for Factory Monitor part # 3460015 which works on almost all newer Ram trucks with the factory reverse camera and 4.3, 5, or 8.4 Uconnect systems. If you want to use a different camera system then I do have options for you but you will need to make sure you have RCA jacks on...

  • Solution for Adding Truck Bed Camera for Hooking Up 5th Wheel on 2019 Ram 3500
Your best option for adding a truck bed camera for 5th wheel hookups is going to be with a more universal option like the excellent Rear View Safety # RVS-091406. Since there aren't any custom option available that will replace the 3rd brake light assembly on your 2019 Ram 3500 or work with its factory monitor in the cab, you will just need to get a little creative with the mounting process. This is why the Rear View Safety # RVS-091406 offers a really nice design for this application,...

  • Where Does Camera of Rear View Safety Wireless Backup Camera System Usually Install
The camera of the RVS Backup Camera Kit part # RVS-091406 that you referenced was mostly intended to mount under the rear hatch release of a vehicle like what you seen in the picture I attached. That said you can mount the camera in whatever orientation on your vehicle that works the best for what you need. On a 2004 Ford F-150 there isn't a great location for a camera like this so you'd be the happiest with the version that mounts using a license plate camera like part # RVS-778718N....

  • Finding Trailer Taillight Circuit Used to Activate Camera of Backup Camera by Rear View Safety
The running lights circuit you need for the activation circuit of the camera of the Rear View Safety Wireless Backup Camera System # RVS-091406 is going to be ran to the trailer taillights. If you look at your taillights there will be a circuit ran to them that has 12 volts when the headlights/running lights of the vehicle are on. You can use a circuit tester like the part # PTW2993 to test the wiring there till you find this circuit and then run it to the camera of the kit.

  • Observation System Recommendation for 2019 Jayco Travel Trailer
The Furrion kits are a bit more expensive than the other kits on the market, but they are worth the extra price. They have the best reception and easily the most reliable of all of the camera setups we've seen so they are worth the price. Plus since your trailer is pre-wired for this setup the install is going to be very easy and the other kits are going to require a bit more wiring. The best priced kit we have is the one with the 4.3 inch display part # FOS43TASF which will easily...

  • Backup Camera Recommendation for 36 Foot Long 5th Wheel Camper
A wireless system will work well for you if you do not want to run wires to the rear of your 5th wheel. I recommend a wireless camera such as the Rear View Safety, part # RVS-091406. In order to achieve the best signal, you will want to mount the camera transmitter and the monitor on the same side of the vehicle. For example, if you want the monitor on the driver's side of the vehicle, it will be best to mount the transmitter to the left side of the camper.

  • Backup and Observation Camera for 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Towing Enclosed Trailer
There are a couple of good options for a back-up and observation camera for your 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited pulling an enclosed trailer. If you are going to mostly be making short trips, the best option because it is the easiest to use is the Rampage Wireless Backup Camera for Smartphone or Tablet # RA7710. • Camera Observation System Recommendation for 2010 Four Winds Chateau 23S
Your 2010 Four Winds Chateau 23S would not be pre-wired for a backup camera but for a great option I recommend the Furrion kit part # FOS43TASF as this kit installs as easily as they can, comes with everything needed to install, and has the best reception of all of the camera kits for an RV like yours. I attached an install video for this for you to check out as well.

The Rear View Safety Wireless Backup Camera System # RVS-091406 will allow you to run the camera all the time. You will simply wire the power of the transmitter to your running lights on your trailer instead of your reverse light function. • Best Location for Transmitter on Rear Safety Wireless Backup Camera System # RVS-091406
The transmitter for the Rear Safety Wireless Backup Camera System # RVS-091406 should indeed be mounted inside the camper like you mentioned because it is not waterproof. The best location for the transmitter will be toward the rear of your trailer (closer to the camera). The system does include a 3M adhesive piece that you can use to mount and secure the transmitter. I have attached a short video review on this system that you can also check out.
