Ellen: Hey everybody, I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com, and we're taking a quick look at the Thule UpTake Hydration Backpack. This is a great way to stay hydrated when you're outside enjoying a pretty strenuous activity, whether that's biking, hiking, kayaking or anything else where you're working up a sweat. It allows you to stay hydrated while you do that and keep a pretty comfortable pack. The straps here are articulated, so they give you a pretty good range of motion while you're doing whatever you're doing, and then the hydration hose has a pretty easy way of coming back down whenever you're done with it. It's going to snap right along this little magnetic strip, that's going to be the orange portion here. So as soon as you take your drink, you can just drop it and not have to fiddle with anything to get it back in its spot. So it makes it really nice and easy to get that back in place and it's not going to be bouncing around right next to your face, driving you nuts. The mesh portion here gives you some reinforcement.
It's also pretty breathable to make sure that you don't get too hot with that pack on you, and you should also have enough room to stash a change of clothes inside or maybe an extra pair of shoes or any other gear or snacks that you want to bring with you. So have a little pocket up here at the top. This would be good for something like your keys or phone to go in this portion. It doesn't run the whole length. It's just about here to here as far as how much space that's in that top pocket. We've got a couple of loops to stash our stuff.
So one right here and here, these cover up the other pockets that are on the outside. So these would be good for lights on the pack, or maybe a water bottle or something else. The whole point is that you have the hydration pack there, but you could stash other stuff in there. Since it's such see-through mesh I would think that these are going to be more for lights or any other kind of small accessory that you want to have readily available right at that backside. Also got a loop down here to run any gear through.
And again, a couple of loops on either side. The main event, the main compartment here, open that up, you can see that's where we're going to have our bladder or the reservoir pack. So this is going to go all the way down the length of the pack. This has a capacity of about eight liters, or excuse me, two and a half liters of liquid or water. You can easily change this out, clean it out by just sliding it off that little plate there. It does have a tether to keep that in place.
So it makes it pretty easy to fill that up. And then if you want to ever clean it, you can always take out this whole thing. This little reservoir pack just slides in this loop up here at the top. So it makes it really easy to switch that out if you ever need to.And we again, should still have room enough inside there to stash a couple extra things. You got another pocket inside, so you can keep those things separate. So if you want to have your shoes maybe on the inside, keep those in the mesh pocket you can and keep them away from your clothes. There's also, it looks like a little kind of inside pocket. So you can maybe put a tool here if you're going to be . I know it's going to be hard for you guys to see this, but this little pocket in there, you can maybe stash some bike tools if you don't already have a spot on your bike if that's the activity that you're up to.So just a nice, very lightweight pack for just a day trip or more strenuous activity. Again, those straps up at the top, since they're articulated like this should make it easy for that range of motion. And just to give you another look at that intake here, it also does have a bite lock. So it won't leak out any water unless you bite into it and release that little valve. So that's what's going to allow the water to come out and you can see that we can just drop that down. Even if it's off to the side, it just always wants to come back down since it runs this whole length. So all it needs to do is just get close right there and it'll already draw the whole thing down. So really ingenious little system there.Got a couple of straps, so we can adjust the length on our shoulder straps here. We've got a couple of little extra loops there, and then also our waist strap to keep that nice and cinched into the waist so it's not going to be bouncing around and that keeps it really close to your back. Helps eliminate any jostling motion that you might experience otherwise. All in all pretty nice accessory to have with you on any kind of longer trip, or more strenuous activity to make sure that you stay hydrated while you're outside.Well I hope this has been helpful in deciding if this is the right option for you. We do have some other packs available from Thule and all kinds of other luggage and hiking and biking gear accessories. So check those out right here at etrailer.com. I'm Ellen with etrailer.
