Today we're going to review part number BD44125W0317. This is the Bulldog heavy-duty cast head coupler for an A-frame coupler. This heavy-duty coupler is ideal for the utility, livestock, cargo, and construction trailers. It is designed to fit on the A-frame design trailers, and it does mount to the 50-degree trailer tongue, which is the normal measurement on your A-frame trailers. Now this is a cast head design that you can see is welded to the high-strength steel part right here that attaches to your trailer. This is a wedge-style latch or a trigger latch, as you can see right here.
As I operate it you can see it underneath there. This is very secure and easy to use. As you'll notice on the top here, on the high-strength steel section, there is a hole with three mounting holes. This is a built-in jack attachment point, which will allow for quick, easy mounting of a round utility jack on your trailer. This uses a ball size of 2-5/16".
What I'm going to show you is I've got an example of a 2-5/16" hitch ball right here. So if we put that in there, you can see as you open the latch, it would fall onto it. You let the latch go, lock it into place. And as you can see, it pretty much stays in place right there. Then to release it, just lift up on the latch, and you can remove it from the 2-5/16" hitch ball.
Capacity on this coupler is 12,500 lbs. It does come with a limited 5-year warranty. And I just want to give you an overall length of this coupler. If we go from the top of the cast head to the edge of the steel, it's going to be 18" long. That should do it for the review on part number BD44125W0317, the Bulldog heavy-duty cast head coupler for the A-frame couplers.

Durable cast coupler features the easy-to-use Wedge Latch for simple, quick hookup and has a built-in attachment point for round, A-frame utility jacks.I purchased a new trailer that has a v nose. Didn't realize that the 50 degree frame rails are much shorter with the V. I have an existing weight distribution hitch that would not fit due to the short length of the frame rails. This coupler added an extra 4" of length for me to use my hitch. I purchased the weld on model because it had no holes. I transferred the existing holes on the frame rails to the new coupler and mounted up beautifully. I have not pulled with it yet but am completely happy with my purchase. Quick shipping, quality product and a good price. What more do you want?
Excellent customer service and prompt shipping! Thank you!!

Love it! Very well built! Every trailer should have this! Thank you!
Well made, came on time, what more can you ask for?
Looks well built, quick delivery
Doesn't fit well, even though your website said this was the correct hitch for this make and model trailer.
Installed, works fine. The handle sticks a little, hard to open for a 120# woman age 60 but otherwise no issues. Installer painted it without discussing with me and the paint peeled off in one week.
Very good product but was delivered to the wrong adresse i was lucky that the person that received it was honest enough to phone me and i had to go pick it up 10 miles from my home ??????
I have been installing these on our work trailers the last couple years. They work great. I'm using this one to convert my 5th wheel car trailer to a bumper pull trailer
Identical replacement for a bent couple r.
Easy installation, wish it included the grade 8 bolts but otherwise great product fast delivery an extremely satisfied. Installed in minutes.
Helpful people at etrailer. They told me the info they needed to set me up with the correct coupler. I did my homework, got back with them and Angie had my trailer coupler delivered to me the next day. I will definitely call them first always for trailer needs.
Got lazy one day and tried to move my trailer with the tractor and the corner of the implement I had on there and bent the coupler. Being a welded on part I wanted to place it with a quality part. Could of bought local but etrailer is a no hassle outfit. Thx guys
Non-product specific stuff first... etrailer.com has to have some of the best customer service out there, got a delay on this being a backordered part, got an updated email that it was going to be almost a 2 month delivery delay but I needed this specific hitch so I was in a bind. You guys came in good with an under promise, over delivery since I got it well before the estimated delivery date. That doesn't seem to exist in retail anymore and you've earned my future business for that! The hitch in particular worked about as well as I hoped to replace my old Fulton hitch that the clamp had rusted away on. I still have some work to do to replace the load levelers and put a new tongue jack on but I know where I'll be ordering that jack from for certain! Thanks etrailer!
very good product as we were sure to receive a good coupler from your cie
Working good so far
Great quality product! Huge improvement over the Bulldog Collar-Lok style coupler it replaced on our horse trailer. Completely eliminated the damage to the hitch ball caused by the original coupler.
This a heavy-duty connector that I am using to replace a broken one on my flatbed trailer. This unit is designed well and fit as it should onto the A-frame of the trailer.( Once I got the old hitch cut off with a grinder!)
The ball receiver is very solid and the latch hitch, I think, will be better than what I had, which was a wrap-around type that broke.
I plan on adding a couple of spot welds just as insurance, although using 12 Grade 8 bolts will certainly hold the thing just fine.
The product choices allowed me to choose exactly what I needed to replace my trailer coupler with a new and better one plus a new and better jack. Once I cut off the old coupler, fitting the new one was easy. I really liked the bolt-on concept which allowed me to do the repair at home without having to weld one on where I don’t have access to a welder. I am a very experienced welder but don’t have a welding machine at home.
My husband loves this hitch. I don't have to worry about it coming unhitched from the bumper like our old one did. It stands true to its name "The Bulldog" He has told several family and friends about it and some of them has ordered them one for their trailers
I am now in the process of removing the old (El Cheapo) coupler that came with my (El Cheapo) tow-behind travel trailer and installing this serious-serious "Bulldog" coupler because I never again hope to be out with a crowbar trying to disconnect my tow vehicle from my trailer! A bit of dignity afforded by replacing a $33 item with a $142 item is, as is said, priceless. I read the earlier reviews and, as an engineer, will be surprised if I ever again need that crowbar with this fine piece of machinery!!!
I believe in Bulldog products. This is my first experience with this particular design. I have noticed that the latch mechanism can be fussy about how it works. Not just a matter of throwing a lever and its locked. It does require more focus than other Bulldog couplers I have used.
