The Exact Center works better than other steering stabilizers because it's always working to prevent unwanted movement.
Other steering stabilizers slowly activate to control steering only after your motorhome has already begun to wander or make a turn. Basically, other steering stabilizers are reactive - they fight against the unwanted movement, but only after the movement has already started. They will get your RV back in line and absorb shock while doing so, but they still allow some play in the steering because of their soft centers, which can cause the steering to feel spongy.
Roadmaster's Exact Center is proactive. It uses a nitrogen-charged gas spring that applies full force right when you need it. This helps prevent the unwanted wandering and white-knuckling you typically get when driving your RV. The improved responsiveness makes driving to your next adventure less of an exhausting chore.

This gas spring steering stabilizer will give your motorhome a responsive steering experience that keeps your rig from wandering. Custom mounting brackets included.Overall, there was considerable improvement with the steering on our 35' class A. Any additional improvements will probably involve replacing some of actual steering system components.
Super fast service. Install "seems" easy enough. Will follow up later.
Want to thank Rodger for his help!! Product works great
I have been using the exact center steering stabilizer for several months now. The steering stabilizer improved my steering 10 to 15% leaning towards 10 more than 15. It was relatively easy to install but difficult to adjust due to the fact that adjustments require driving on the highway and adjusting by trial and error. The price is slightly elevated for the worthiness of the product in my opinion. I am not against this product at all. It’s definitely better than Ford’s stock stabilizer, but it’s not a magical fix and should be priced lower.
Had this installed by my local truck repair shop shortly after purchase (install was no problem) and have taken my Ford chassis equipped Itasca Class C on several long trips since then. Another review stated that it improved the overall steering experience by about 20%.... I would say my experience was a bit better then that, with a 30 to 40 percent improvement. It definitely helps and I feel much more confident in the handling of my motorhome. Much more relaxed after a day of driving to be sure. A bit pricey and I would have wished for a 80 to 100 percent improvement but overall I have been pleased with my purchase.
Hey RV'rs.... I upgraded from the Roadmaster stabilizer and the difference was phenomenal... Prince Edward county to Key West with minimal steering correcting
This one of the best if not the best exact center steering stabilizer on the market. Steering my 38 foot class A gas motorhome is simply a breeze. I use to fight my steering wheel to keep my motorhome straight on every type of road. I use to brace and prepare to input multiple steering corrections whenever a Semi truck was about to pass me. With my exact center steering stabilizer installed plus the addition of air bags (front and rear) driving my motorhome is now as easy as driving my F-150 super duty. The exact center steering stabilizer alone improved all of the white knuckle constant steering adjustments i was experiencing. The air bags prevent the side to side movements from cross winds and when a Semi truck passes my motorhome. The vast improvement is the same with or without the toad. This was by far the most cost effective, easily installed, and immediate improvement I have made to my 2015 Coachmen Encounter 37LS Motorhome.
Makes my steering harder to turn on curves and makes you overcompensate when a truck passes. Wish I could return it, however the return policy states only uninstalled items may be returned. Not sure how you would know if the product worked unless you installed it. Wish I had ordered it on Amazon, then I could return this expensive "stabilizer". Not sure how it got so many good reviews.
Works as advertised. Steering is much better and more responsive
This it the second Roadmaster stabilizer I have purchased from Etrailer. Other was for our older 2011 motorhome and after having it I did not want to drive without 1. This is different than prior unit- big factor is so much lighter and easy to adjust, so far working perfectly…
For what this cost,I notice no difference in the steering handling from the prior factory set-up. My RV mechanic tells me it's because I have a shorter motor coach at 32 foot. It just gets blown around and handles like a a short wheel base vehicle.
We put this on a 2002 Holiday Rambler pusher with about 70,000 miles. I looked at this system a few years ago but I wasn’t sure it would make much of a difference. Wow was I wrong ! We were leaving for an out west trip and so I thought it would be a good test. First off the coach never handled (bad) it just wasn’t great. I would say that this cleaned up about 80% of the steering wheel (sawing). I literally had to retrain myself not to constantly over steer the coach and let the system recenter me. I found myself giggling as I would start the day’s drive because it made that much difference. My only regret is that I waited 12 years before trying this steering stabilizer. It was simple to install (did it myself) and I didn’t even need to adjust it. I went for a test drive previous to installing and made note of where the steering wheel needed to be when going straight, then set the wheel in that position when I installed the stabilizer. Still amazed something so small could make such a difference.
Our mechanic told us what we got was not a steering stabilizer but more like a cushion. My husband said it did tighten up the steering somewhat.
Driving our 30 ft. Class C motor homes, is like driving a sports car, haven’t had steering problems with road ruts, no more white nuckle driving, sure help driving between big
rigs. I glad I waited on them during the Covid shortages instead of buying some other product. You need to put ty raps on the end of the boots that’s keeping it in place. Great investment.
This is one of those things that looks good on paper, But in the real world not so good, I did everything exactly on install and the fine tune road adjustment and after 1200 miles, I took it off and it has been sitting in my shop since, A waste of money, what has made the most improvement on the road handling with my 2018 E350 was getting the Caster set too + 5.5 to + 6.0. now the road handling is much improved and acceptable, The best one can hope for with Fords Twin I Beam front end.
Kim and the staff at E-trailer are very helpful. Fast and efficient delivery. Looking forward to installing the Steering Stabilizer. With the new sway bars already installed, we should see a big difference in handling of our Fleetwood Bounder. Thanks very much!
Super easy to install. I didn’t need an impact driver. I just used a breaker bar and a couple of drops of oil from the dipstick on the u bolt nuts. Drives without needing slots of steering corrections.
I really like the way the vehicle handles after finally getting it centered. I had issues with the rubber boot constantly sliding off one side or the other. This would cause major vehicle pulling one way or the other especially after one heavy rain storm. I placed hose clamps on the boot and clamped it to the steering stabilizer, that fixed the issue.
I will have to wait until next year to install the stabilizer. I had to have the kingpins replaced in the Ford front end at 13,500 miles because parts were left out at the factory. We were not able to use the motorhome much this year.
Tips for installation;
1) Drive and find straight/center with masking tape as described; DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP or rely on if the wheels just look straight.
2) Wire brush (with drill attachment) U-bolts to remove rust.
3) Spray with PB Rust breaker type product and let soak on U-bolts
4) Remove U-bolts with torque wrench to help determine torque setting
5) Follow remainder of etrailer video instructions as they are clear and correct EXCEPT; the black end pieces in which the shock screws into should be set to a thread depth you are comfortable with prior to install to leave room to perform fine adjustments. I reset bracket to make sure the threads had plenty of bite.
The hardest part is the fine tuning. I have only put approx. 10miles on it at this point searching for center as I did not do step #1 at first and had to reset the bracket on the drag-link to ensure proper thread depth.
As far as performance; Not sure how I feel about it yet. Does hold straight but requires more effort during turns and constant effort to maintain the turn. My rig takes a lot of mico adjustments on the steering wheel going down the road to keep straight and I am concerned this will cause more fatigue rather than less. Getting ready for road trip and will report more after.
As far as Etrailer; Excellent communication, quick shipping, good instructional video.
I could not get it to center properly I end of taking it off, waste of money.
