Benefits of an Anti-Sway System

The Roadmaster anti-sway bar does for side-to-side movement what a good pair of shocks does for up-and-down motion. You will notice a marked improvement in your vehicle's stability as the bar works to balance weight transfer and reduce body roll. The anti-sway bar acts as a link between your vehicle's frame and its front axle, using the axle as a brace to more effectively balance the shifting weight of your vehicle as you maneuver it. Lubricated bushings allow just enough pivot and rotation to compensate for the pressure placed on one side of your vehicle when it goes into sudden maneuvers, hits crosswinds or encounters shifting weights.


The TruTrac System

Rut tracking occurs when your vehicle hits an uneven patch of pavement and is, consequently, pulled into that rut and off of the smooth pavement. With larger trucks and motor homes, this problem can be difficult to correct because you have to work even harder to steer back onto the road. With Roadmaster's TruTrac system, rut tracking is a thing of the past. The unique Trac rod attaches to the front axle of your vehicle, essentially holding it in place to prevent jarring and any unnecessary shifting. In addition to minimizing rut tracking, the TruTrac system helps to end driver fatigue by eliminating wander, which is the "loose steering" feeling that causes you to oversteer.


Roadmaster Anti-Sway Polyurethane Bushings

Superior Construction

The Roadmaster anti-sway bar and TruTrac rod are both made of 4140 chromoly, a chromium and molybdenum steel alloy. This type of steel is considerably harder and stronger than the standard 1020 steel that is typically used in suspension applications. In addition, the larger diameter of the anti-sway bar increases its torsional roll stiffness. The result is a bar that is not only stronger than the competition, but also nearly 30 percent better at resisting sway. The polyurethane bushings and grommets used at the attachment points in both the anti-sway and TruTrac systems are durable yet flexible, ensuring that the system is neither so rigid nor so malleable that it becomes ineffective.

I installed this about a year ago, it helped the ride some, but the handing it really helped, You had to have hands on all the time, reminded me of a wreck looking for a place to happen, it is not for someone that can't do hands on installation, the instruction has a lot to be desired so if You can't use tools, hire someone to install, mine was missing a lot of bolts and nuts which was easier for me to run to Alabama Bolt and buy than it was to sit waiting on them to send re[placement, I would recommend this for anyone with a WorkHorse W22 or W24 undercarriage on your Motor Home......I also would recommend the kit for the rear, when installing this, like I said it helped, but nothing like what the rear did, read about it on that Kit

2004 Workhorse W-Series

when I decided to upgrade my w22 workhorse suspension on my 36 ft Coachman Santara , the concern was sway and control on the interstate surrounded by the big rigs from 50 to 70 mph, My Coachman would get to be a hand full due to cross and push winds. Easy installs on my 2004 E-450. The new Roadmaster 1139-115 front sway bar and the Roadmaster 1139-147 rear sway bar greatly improved the handling and cornering of the motorhome. I have aDraw-Tite 65001 front mount receiver mounted and there were no problems when installing the front sway bar.

It is actually a pleasure to drive! When cornering the motorhome would lean and things would slide around and i even had kitchen drawers open. The problems that i had no longer exist. The cost and the work i did to install were well worth it!

Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase of the Roadmaster front anti-sway bar from etrailer. I had a few observations that I shared with etrailer and Roadmaster from my experience... I ordered part RM-1139-140 (Front Anti-Sway Bar), What I received did not match the information on the website. Meaning, the sway bar was slightly different than what was pictured and is shown in many of the instructional videos. The one I received also included end links. All of the information I had seen on the etrailer website indicated re-using the existing end links (etrailer website picture now shows picture with end links included). However, it appears the new end links provided are better and I like that, just wasn't what I was expecting and made the installation harder than I anticipated. In particular, it was difficult to remove the factory hardware where the end links bolt to the chassis due to the orientation of the bolts (need 18mm wrench). It also made me question if I had actually received the right parts...but I was able to get them installed and they seemed to fit. After talking to Roadmaster, they confirmed I had the right parts and had done a recent change to the product (now includes end links). The end links provided seem very robust, but the instructions were slightly confusing and unclear (to me at least) on how to orient the end links. It appears the correct orientation is for the "knuckle" of the end links to "point" toward each other. It took a while for me to feel like this was correct. The parts diagram was a bit unclear, but I shared this feedback with them and I understand they may be tweaking the instructions as a result. There also appeared to be some other inconsistencies or errors in the provided instructions. The instructions indicate to re-use hardware from the factory brackets, however they also provide new hardware in the kit (I used the new hardware provided). The new bolts were slightly larger than the factory bolts and at first I thought would not fit the axle mounting holes. A light tap with a hammer got them in without damaging the threads. All-in-all, I got it installed and it made a significant reduction in sway on the interstate. I can also corner the curves on the back roads without feeling like the rig is going to tip over. I also have the Rear Anti-sway bar and Steering Stabilizer from Roadmaster. I am very satisfied with my purchase from etrailer, the products, and the support from Roadmaster in answering my questions.

Considering the difference in diameter from stock to this upgrade I could feel the difference while driving. Easy to install with one minor obstacle. The factory left drop link bolt was installed between the fuel tank and the link mount which required us to remove the rear fuel tank bracket and pull the tank out far enough to pull the factory bolt out. The new bolt was installed towards the tank. Installed on ‘99 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4.

I think the anti-sway bar is the most noticeable. When I'm turning out of my driveway where there is a dip as I go over the curb-cut, for example, the sway seems limited moreso than before. As for the steering stabilizer, I think the RV seems a little harder to turn at a slow speed, but I don't notice a lot of difference in it's "springing back to straight" as I'm going down the highway. Some of that may be due to the crown of the road. I'm anxious to try it on the interstate to see if it is better there. Well, I drove on a smooth, level Interstate with a tailwind, and it handled like a dream. Bottom line, the biggest difference in driving is the wind and the road surface. These components probably help a little, but I'm not sure it was worth the cost. I'd like to think the RV handles a little better, but I'm not sure that isn't because I want it to after spending the $$$ for these upgrades.

This went on our 2019 Windsport 29M. Outside of a couple minor install issues (Breaking frame bolts loose and needing to remove washer on the buttonhead bolt so the shock would fit in) the purchase went great - CS was very helpful the part shipped and arrived quickly. I just finished the test drive and there is a noticeable difference in stiffness I should mention we already had front and rear Sumo springs and Roadmaster steering stabilizer which are a huge improvement over the stock chassis but still wanted to improve the interstate semi push and unexpected wind gusts . So far so good.

Ive been asked to provide a 1 year update... After the past year I can sincerely say this addition is well worth the price for anyone trying to control roll on class A with F53 chassis. Sumos alone help but adding the rear sway bar makes driving so much more enjoyable.

Overall very happy with purchase of front Anti-Sway bar. Installation required the use of torched heat and a 6 point socket to remove the two front bolts on the original Anti-Sway bar on my 2016 Ford E-450 (Thor Outlaw Class C). After using heat on the frame around the bolts for about 30 seconds, the bolts were easily removed. The new Anti-Sway bar was quite a bit larger than the original and fairly easy to install following supplied instructions. This completes the installation of the front and back Anti-Sway bars and the Loadmaster Reflex Steering Stabilizer. Final test drive tomorrow.

After a year I did add Sumo Springs and Koni shocks to the front. This completed my front suspension. I will eventually add the Sumo Springs to the rear. Overall very happy with the products I added to my suspension, starting with the Front and rear Anti-Sway bar.

I recently purchased a 2011 Itasca Cambria 28 with only 10,500 miles. Our first trip made it clear that I needed to stiffen the chassis. Unfortunately Roadmaster Anti-sway bars are backordered, and though you should put those on first, I just installed the Steering Dampener. Easy installation though you need to be careful about seating the bushings. The videos are much better than the printed instructions. Already see a big difference in how much tighter the steering is. Can't wait for the bars to arrive. Disappointed to have to wait 4 weeks.

Received my 2019 E450 front Roadmaster sway bar yesterday and installed it today. Easy install, Instructions sheets was easy to understand. Did a test drive for 10 miles, Boy what a difference. Feels great , nice and tight , now have front and rear sway bars from Etrailer as well as steering stabilizer . makes my Class C handle much easier going down the road. These sway bars are much thicker than the ford standard bars. Etrailer has great videos to show all installs. Thanks Etrailer for all the info.

Relatively easy installation on my 2004 Ram 3500. It would have been easier if I had removed the spare tire. I only noted a few minor issues. The instructions say to mount the U brackets to the rear two holes in the shock mounts. However, on this truck the shocks mount one in front and one in rear. Therefore, the passenger side mounts in the rear two holes, but the driver side mounts in the front two holes. Otherwise all went well.

RM-1139-198 is of high quality. Haven’t tested but have installed. Easy install, I was able to reuse the factory bolt holes on anti-sway bar and frame. Which made it fast and easy. Huge difference in size of RM to factory bars. Only issue I had was I ordered kit number RM-1139-198 to fit my 2018 Ford E-350 and this kit was garrantied to fit. But nothing on this product said ONLY if your E-350 or E-450 has auto drop down tire chains, oops I learned this after I received and started install. Part needed is RM-1139-117 which has 11 inch center to center bolt holes on links instead of the shorter 9 inch. The 9” links are just too short to work. I had to order the longer end links and yes they weren’t free. If you watch the install video on either kit number the tech points this out and with the longer links mine bolted up exactly as the video stated. After testing for awhile I’ll review the product again. This is the only improvement I’ve made so far.
