Roadmaster Anti-Sway Bar Installed

Benefits of an Anti-Sway System

The Roadmaster anti-sway bar does for side-to-side movement what a good pair of shocks does for up-and-down motion. You will notice a marked improvement in your vehicle's stability as the bar works to balance weight transfer and reduce body roll. The anti-sway bar acts as a link between your vehicle's frame and its front axle, using the axle as a brace to more effectively balance the shifting weight of your vehicle as you maneuver it. Lubricated bushings allow just enough pivot and rotation to compensate for the pressure placed on one side of your vehicle when it goes into sudden maneuvers, hits crosswinds or encounters shifting weights.

Roadmaster Anti-Sway Polyurethane Bushings

Superior Construction

The Roadmaster anti-sway bar is made of 4140 chromoly, a chromium and molybdenum steel alloy. This type of steel is considerably harder and stronger than the standard 1020 steel that is typically used in anti-sway applications. In addition, the larger diameter of the bar increases its torsional roll stiffness. The result is a bar that is not only stronger than the competition, but also nearly 30 percent better at resisting sway. The polyurethane bushings and grommets used at the attachment points are durable yet flexible, ensuring that the system is neither so rigid nor so malleable that it becomes ineffective.

Video Transcript for Roadmaster Front Anti-Sway Bar Review

Speaker 1: Today we're going to be taking a look at Roadmaster's line of front anti-sway bars for motor homes. You want to refer to our fit guide to find the appropriate sway bar for your vehicle. And this is what a typical sway bar's going to look like when it's installed. Yours might be slightly different depending on your chassis, but this'll give you an overall idea of how it'll look.Your sway bar will attach to your front suspension and your frame to help reduce sway when going down the road. You may experience sway when going over uneven terrain, hitting potholes, on windy days, or when passing by large traffic.Sway causes driver fatigue, because you're constantly having to fight to maintain straight line on the vehicle when it's swaying back and forth. This'll help reduce that sway, allowing you to have more energy when you get to your destination so you can do the things you enjoy doing. The polyurethane bushings will help dampen against vibration, and they're also resistant against road grimes, oils, and UV rays. The bar itself has a black powder coat finish to help resist against corrosion. This sway bar's made of 4140 chrome alloy steel, which is going to be significantly stronger than the typical 1020 steel that's used on your factory sway bars.Compared to most factory sway bars, it's going to have a larger diameter bar.

It's going to help increase torsional roll stiffness. This means there will be less twisting in the bar, making for a more stable, smooth ride for you. This will also make for safer travel. In the event of an evasive maneuver or a quick turn, the reduction in body roll that you'll get with this bar installed will help you maintain control of the vehicle, and can help reduce rollover. And now we'll take our anti-sway bar out on our test course. And when we go into our alternating bumps, you can instantly feel a difference in the amount of sway.

It's a lot more stable side-to-side than what it was before, making it much easier to maintain control of the steering wheel. And then we'll head into our straight bumps. And when we hit those, there's a definite difference in how much forward and aft movement we had before. It's definitely a more comfortable ride than what we had, and again it's easier to maintain control of the steering wheel. And now we'll head into our slalom, where we can really test out the sway capabilities. So if we had some evasive maneuvers, how our motor home would react. And it's a massive difference.

When turning, there's hardly any sway. I feel much more confident taking nice sharp, evasive turns. After owning this product for a year, our customer Wayne J. checked in and had to say, "It's an excellent product. Well made, great instructions. Easy install with proper tools.

Made an incredible improvement in the handling of our 35-foot motor coach with an F-53 chassis. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to greatly decrease sway in a coach."And that completes our look at Roadmaster's line of front anti-sway bars for motor homes.

2007 Volvo Cross Country

I have a 2007 Winnebago Voyage 33V workhorse frame . I spent a lot of money trying to get this RV to handle correctly. I thought that the Workhorse frame had little sway to it and concentrated efforts to track bars front and rear and new steering box and a steering damper but had little improvement. My last effort was sway bars, front and rear and WOW what a difference!!! I ordered from E Trailer and to my surprise on day two it was sitting at my front door. Instructions were easy to understand and install wasnt difficult, took a couple of hours to put both on. I drove yesterday pulling a 27ft enclosed trailer in winds of 25 mph with gusts to 50 and was "Blown Away" by how stable the RV was after installing these sway bars. Easy one handed driving in the worst of conditions. I now am finally happy with my RV and look forward to next years cross country trip. Thanks E Trailer, I have bought several products and always appreciate the quick delivery and your follow up email to see if everything went well, its rare today to have your level of support. 443464

Review from a similar Sway Bar with Bushing Kit in Anti-Sway Bars

I have a class A motor home on an F53. They are scary to drive. Called Noah at etrailer.com. He knew just what I needed. Front sway bad, rear sway bar and steering stabilizer. Had them installed today and took about 100 mile drive. Wow, what a difference. Delivery was really fast and no one could beat them on price. I would use roadmaster products again. Thanks Noah for all your help!! 598297

I have a F350 dually with a 2300 pound slide in camper that rocked to the point it was scary to go around a turn. I just installed the rear sway bar and the difference is unbelievable. I have just ordered one for the front. Well worth the money. 135527

Review from a similar Sway Bar with Bushing Kit in Anti-Sway Bars

The product is great. The change in handling of my Ford F53 based motorhome is like day and night. The sway ( those of you who have an F 53 know what I’m talking about ) is so much more tolerable and no more white knuckles. The installation was straightforward but wasn’t as easy as it looked in the instructions. The torques were killer and took three of us to get done. The product does what Roadmaster clams it will do and I’m happy with the anti sway bar. 664236

The rear sway bars on my Tiffin motor home were so small that trucks almost knock us over. Has the new sway bars fixed the problem? No, but 80% of the sway we were getting is gone. Still needs track bar, and Sumo air bag helpers. Probably the best purchase so far for what we are trying to accomplish. Recommend them highly. 570979

Review from a similar Sway Bar with Bushing Kit in Anti-Sway Bars

I have a 2000 dodge van 3500. Roadtrek versatile. The installation of Sway bar 1129-111 was somewhat easy. Except for connection to the Fram rails. Vinyl cover on driver side fram rail and propane lines next to rail on both sides. It would make installation Easter to remove rear tires and support vehicle on Jack stands on level ground. After driving for several miles the sway bar performed well. Would recommend rear sway bar to help stabilize your vehicle. Thank you 386045

Review from a similar Sway Bar with Bushing Kit in Anti-Sway Bars

It took a little effort on the phone to figure out which sway bar was needed for the motorhome I have. I was skeptical about the right one being sent but it was correct and installation was a couple of hours. It fit perfectly and really dampened the body roll we were having. Worked great, service and delivery was fantastic. This was the first time I have used etrailer.com and am very happy with their product and willingness to help. I'll be using them again and I highly recommend them. 356110

Review from a similar Sway Bar with Bushing Kit in Anti-Sway Bars

The Road Master rear sway bar is Great but only because of etrailer with their installation video. The written instructions that come from Road Master are less than vague and incomplete. The only thing of value in the instructions is the torque specifications. Without etrailer‘s video the average mechanically inclined person would not know how to properly install the system 453321

Review from a similar Sway Bar with Bushing Kit in Anti-Sway Bars

Product arrived quickly as usual with etrailer. The etrailer video was more handy than the accompanying instructions from Roadmaster. etrailer provided videos for both the early E450 and the later chassis installations. While essentially the same, there was a small difference of enlarging an existing hole on the early frame in my case a 2006 and having to measure to locate the hole on the later. It would be nice if Roadmaster included a parts diagram to help with assembly instead of small not clear pictures. I thought the parts package was short two half inch washers, I supplied them from my stock. The fittings on the Roadmaster bar are much heavier than the stock components. Installation is on a 2007 Coach House, motorhome. Took it for a test drive, big difference in handling. 460014

Review from a similar Sway Bar with Bushing Kit in Anti-Sway Bars

I purchased this kit and the Roadmaster rear anti-sway bar kit for installation on my 2015 Fleetwood Flair, 26-foot. Before purchasing, I called Roadmaster to make sure this kit could be installed on my small RV, as they make smaller kits for smaller RVs. They indicated it could be installed, and I'm glad I went with the heavier kit. The install took maybe an hour, with the only glitch being some difficulty getting the poly bushings and brackets over the new bar. I called Roadmaster, and the tech noted that the brackets DID look to small, but with some jiggling and finesse, the bolts should fit, and they did. My only irritation with this, and the rear anti-sway bar kit, is that the Roadmaster instructions do not provide ANY torque specifications for bolts to be replaced, either Ford F53, or kit specific, so be prepared to make some calls or go on an Internet search to find the right torque specs. 224319

Review from a similar Sway Bar with Bushing Kit in Anti-Sway Bars

I ordered both the Front and Rear anti-sway bar upgrade kits. The install on my 2016 E450 was quite simple, and accomplished easily in my driveway. The kit for the front was a simple remove and replace the OEM bar. The rear kit required drilling two holes to accomodate new mounting points. Other than that, it was also simply a matter of removing a few bolts, and replacing the factory bar. Some minor nits associated with the kits. The washers included in the kit for the rear didn't fit the bolts, also included in the kit. And, the instructions for the front kit didn't include torque specs for the bolts. A quick trip to the local hardware store, and a call to Roadmaster tech support solved the respective problems. Oddly, the Roadmaster tech guy read me THEIR instruction over the phone, and they DID include the necessary specs. I've intalled these kits on two different motor homes now. They work GREAT, and I highly recommend them if you're towing and it feels like the vehicle has a bit more roll than you like. HOWEVER, I would note that the difficulty of installation can vary widely. If you're planning to install yourself, I highly recommend downloading the instructions in advance, and crawling under your vehicle to check on accessibility. For the E450 kit, you'll have to be able to get under there with a drill, and not drill through any cables/lines that may run along the frame rails. You'll also have to be able to get a (typically somewhat large) torque wrench up in there. My experience suggests this can be nearly impossible on some vehicles without access to a grease pit or lift. Good luck! 302768

I just installed the roadmasteranti sway bar 1209-131 on my 2013 Winnebago via.The vehicle is a 2012. it fit well and road test good. I had to shorten the exhaust about 9 inches because it interfered with drivers side arm other than that its good to go. 108043

I put the sway bar on a 2012 25t I did shorten the exhaust about 9 inches I think 2 or 3 inches would have been good. That was easy to do, as new as they are just take exhaust loose at first coupling pass the elbow slide it out and take some off the piece that goes to the inside. Worked well for me. Going from our drive onto the blacktop road in front of our place was all it tuck to decide it was worth the effort. It fit very well. Thanks Mack. PS I am 75 and 240 Made a man door step for drivers door .It works well Love it. Mack
