Roadmaster Anti-Sway Bar Installed

Benefits of an Anti-Sway System

The Roadmaster anti-sway bar does for side-to-side movement what a good pair of shocks does for up-and-down motion. You will notice a marked improvement in your vehicle's stability as the bar works to balance weight transfer and reduce body roll. The anti-sway bar acts as a link between your vehicle's frame and its rear axle, using the axle as a brace to more effectively balance the shifting weight of your vehicle as you maneuver it. Lubricated bushings allow just enough pivot and rotation to compensate for the pressure placed on one side of your vehicle when it goes into sudden maneuvers, hits crosswinds or encounters shifting weights.

Roadmaster Anti-Sway Polyurethane Bushings

Superior Construction

The Roadmaster anti-sway bar is made of 4140 chromoly, a chromium and molybdenum steel alloy. This type of steel is considerably harder and stronger than the standard 1020 steel that is typically used in anti-sway applications. In addition, the larger diameter of the bar increases its torsional roll stiffness. The result is a bar that is not only stronger than the competition, but also nearly 30 percent better at resisting sway. The polyurethane bushings and grommets used at the attachment points are durable yet flexible, ensuring that the system is neither so rigid nor so malleable that it becomes ineffective.

Video Transcript for Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar Review

Speaker 1: Today we're gonna be taking a look at Roadmaster's Line of Rear Anti-Sway Bars for motorhomes. You want to refer to our fit guide to find the appropriate sway bar for your vehicle. The large size and heavy weight associated with motorhomes can cause drastic amounts of sway when driving down the road. To help create a safer ride, and reduce driver fatigue, we can minimize the sway by adding an additional rear sway bar. So when making basic maneuvers or sharp turns, you'll minimize the risk of a rollover. Also, when driving on windy days, on uneven pavement, you can get a sway affect going back and forth, and you'll have to compensate for that with the steering wheel to maintain and safe, straight path. This additional bar will help reduce that amount of sway, making it easier to maintain control of your vehicle and reduce vehicle fatigue, 'cause you're not having to compensate as much. The Polyurethane Bushings will help dampen road vibrations, and additionally stand up to corrosive road oils, salts, and UV rays. The bar is made up of 4140 chrome steel, where most factory bars are only made of a lower strength, 1020 steel. And to maximize your reduction of sway, Roadmaster recommends you also get a front anti-sway bar. Using our fit guide at etrailer.com you can pick out the appropriate rear and front end anti-sway bars for your motorhome. Now we'll take our anti-sway bars out on our test course.

When we go into our alternating bumps, you can instantly feel a difference in the amount of sway. It's a lot more stable side to side then it was before, making it much easier to maintain control of the steering wheel. And then we'll head onto our straight bumps. When we hit those, there's a definite difference in how much forward and back movement than we had before. It's definitely a more comfortable ride than what we had. And again, it's easier to maintain control of the steering wheel. And now we'll head onto our slalom where we can really test our the sway capabilities.

So if we have some evasive maneuvers, how our motorhome would react. And it's a massive difference. When turning, there's hardly any sway. I feel much more confidence taking sharp, evasive turns. Our customer David S purchased both front and rear Roadmaster anti-sway bars, and had this to say."I installed front and rear sway bars on my 2006 Itasca Suncruiser after making a winter trip to Florida from Ohio. We made a return trip this past winter, through the smoky mountains etcetera.

The improvement in handling was so noticeable, my wife noticed it from the passenger seat. I highly recommend both of these products. I have a workhorse w24 chassis. Crosswinds and semi-push was very minimal. One handed driving in most situations in the norm now, and driver fatigue was minimal.

Driving the coach is much more enjoyable."And that completes our look at Roadmaster's line of rear anti-sway bars for motorhomes.

The product is great. The change in handling of my Ford F53 based motorhome is like day and night. The sway ( those of you who have an F 53 know what I’m talking about ) is so much more tolerable and no more white knuckles. The installation was straightforward but wasn’t as easy as it looked in the instructions. The torques were killer and took three of us to get done. The product does what Roadmaster clams it will do and I’m happy with the anti sway bar. 664236

Really improved handling in curves. No longer tips or leans over even if I drive in too hard. It's a challenge to do yourself due to the necessary torqueing but it can be done. I'm now wanting to get the front sway bar replacement. 666785

The Road Master rear sway bar is Great but only because of etrailer with their installation video. The written instructions that come from Road Master are less than vague and incomplete. The only thing of value in the instructions is the torque specifications. Without etrailer‘s video the average mechanically inclined person would not know how to properly install the system 453321

2017 Winnebago Sunova Motorhome

After purchasing a 2017 Winnebago Sunova 36 Z, I realized there were several handling issues that needed to be dealt with to make the drive more comfortable. I researched and then asked the experts at etrailer to narrow down part numbers appropriate to my F53 chassis. With their guidance, I purchased "sumo- springs" front and rear, a "Roadmaster" steering stabilizer, and finally the "Roadmaster" rear sway bar. The addition of these parts has made the coach far more comfortable to drive. Not only does e trailer provide great assistance ordering coach-specific parts, but they provide awesome installation videos that are a great help. Thanks etrailer!! 522622

2017 Newmar Bay Star Motorhome

This is the first of three pieces I wanted to install on my Rig. (budget permitting) The advice to start with this rear sway bar first was spot on. Since this augments the existing sway bar and doesn't replace it, It really does makes a difference. I chose to have it installed by my local RV Shop, since they had all the equipment and tools to do it right. I paid them $225.00 for the install. The tech reviewed the installation video and was pleased I had all the torque data. I might tackle the front anti-sway bar and the Reflex Steering Stabilizer by myself, but this was more than I cared to tackle on my own. Those existing U-bolts are a beast to deal with for this do it yourselfer and I was glad to let him handle it. 669629

The rear sway bars on my Tiffin motor home were so small that trucks almost knock us over. Has the new sway bars fixed the problem? No, but 80% of the sway we were getting is gone. Still needs track bar, and Sumo air bag helpers. Probably the best purchase so far for what we are trying to accomplish. Recommend them highly. 570979

Purchased Roadmaster front & rear anti-sway Bar and a Reflex steering stabilizer for a 2019 Winnebago Vista 27N. Heidi, etrailer.com customer representative, was extremely helpful assisting me with the order. Products were delivered in three days. The difference in which the RV rides with anti-sway bars and stabilizer installed is incredible. Much smoother ride with very little rocking. The RV is a lot easier to control when taking a turn. High winds and passing 18 wheelers are no longer an issue. The RV stays on course with very little effort on my part. Highly recommend these products for any RV no matter the size and a shot out to etrailer.com for their outstanding customer support attitude. 575252

Both sway bars made an incredible difference in the handling of my Winnebago Vista 27N. I also purchased a steering stabilizer and no longer have to fight my steering wheel to stay on the road. I am literally able to drive with just a couple fingers on the wheel. The rear stabilizer wasn’t the correct one for my Vista, cause I ordered one for 22,000 pounds, and it didn’t quite fit properly until I made a couple modifications. I did have to order the extended u bolts for the rear axel as well, and the hardest thing for me was removing and reinstalling the nuts on the u bolts. Overall I’m thrilled, makes driving much more pleasurable. 571969

I purchased this part because of the rocking on my 2011 Tiifen 34TGA built on the Ford F53 frame. After searching I found this on etrailer and I have to say the video and customer support from etrailer is outstanding. The part came quickly. The install is straight forward as the video shows but be prepared for some hard work. Getting the bolts off the frame after years on the road requires a lot of muscle, my 12 gal compressor and Harbor Freight air wrench was not upto the task. You will need a torque wrench that goes upto the 300 ft/lbs required for the plate install. We had to use our legs to get to 300. After installing I took a long test drive and the difference in handling is amazing. Much less rocking and more stable. I would recommend this anti-sway bar to anyone with this Ford frame. 509803

After a year of use the product is still rock solid and keeping my unit from rockin and rollin on the highway and local roads. I still recommend this for your MH on a the Ford F53 chassis.

My 2019 NewMar Bay Star is a well made class A built on a standard Ford F53 22,000 lb chassis. While the larger tires help with the ride compared to my old E450 Class C, passing traffic and turns caused significant swaying like a yacht on the ocean. After researching various suspension components, I chose to start with the rear anti-sway bar and had experience installing one on my previous Class C. etrailer almost always has the best pricing, so I purchased the RM-1139-149. Ordering was easy and it arrived quickly. I had my mechanic install it and he charged me 2 hours of labor. I took the RV on a road test making various turns across uneven surfaces and a 20 mile trip on the freeway. The improvement was significant; the majority of the rocking was gone and the wind effects were minimized. This will definitely help with driver fatigue. Highly recommended upgrade. Next, I'll be doing Sumo springs for my Class A. 740389

Allegro

After owning an Allegro Openroad 32CA 2012 (3rd owner) for a few months we decided to buy the anti-sway bar to improve the driving stability of the RV. Very good service and good pricing from etrailer. I installed the anti-sway bar my self (not that complicated - just follow the video provided on etrailer website). We have also made the "cheap handling fix" on the front existing anti-sway bar and added a "Safe T Plus" steering control device. We have been driving about 8-9000 miles since these modifications and the overall the stability improvement have been very significant. 738105

2018 Tiffin Allegro Motorhome

I installed the Rear sway bar, Front sway bar, the steering shock and also installed a trac-bar on the rear end of a 24000 GVW class A hoping to stop the white knuckle rides. I noticed a difference in the handling right away. I recently took a 1000 mile trip from PA to Florida (it was my first trip since the upgrades) I'm glad I made the decision to do so. I drove the first day for 16 hours, I was tired but not exhausted. Stayed over night in a rest stop and got up the next morning and drove two hours to my destination. It doesn't completely stop the sway and the wind blowing you around but it puts a damper on it enough that your not tense the whole trip. You still feel the gusts of wind and trucks passing you but at least you stay in your lane now. The MPH has a lot to do with it. At 65 and below there is a huge difference. I like to run the speed limit or a couple clicks over, which on most interstates the limit is 70, That's when I noticed the same characteristics start to show up as the stock chassis set up. It's still an improvement over stock and again I'm glad I decided to spend the money for the upgrades. 732182

I have a 2015 Tiffin 31 SA. I added Both front and rear Roadmaster sway bars. The difference was day and night the way the coach handled! I will ad that I also added Sumo springs front and back and also Steersafe. I ordered the sway bars on Sunday and they arrived Thur as promised undamaged. etrailer videos were a big timesaver as well as money. I installed the sway bars with the help of my 2 sons in less than 2 hours! I would not hesitate using etrailer in the future. 720741

This Sway bar is a must add on if you own a motor home. I have a Tiffin 32sa and it handled better compared to most models that I have test driven but I wanted a better ride. I added this and a new rear sway bar system and the ride is like night and day. We also have the factory Sumo springs which is a plus as well. No more rolling into the turns. I also added a steering shock damper. No more drifting. All in all it was worth the money and saves on driving fatigue when on long trips. I highly recommend all items mentioned. 708174

  • Items Needed to Flat Tow 2008 Pontiac G6 Convertible Behind Motorhome
Flat towing a vehicle is always subject to the okay of the auto maker and the best place to check this is in the owner's manual (or with your local dealership which can see the car's specific factory-installed equipment by looking up its VIN). Page 4-26 of the online edition of the owner's manual indicates that one version of the car cannot be flat towed, that version being the 3.9L V6 engine with the four-speed automatic transmission. Since you have the 3.5L you can flat tow the car but...

It sounds like you meant that the Fleetwood Bounder is on a 2019 Ford F-53 chassis which is very common. The first step in increasing the stability of the 2020 Fleetwood Bounder on the 2019 Ford F-53 chassis is to replace the factory sway bars. • Should Floor Jack be Used When Installing Rear Sway Bar on 2013 Ford F-53 Motorhome Chassis
You'll want to use a floor jack to get the rear axle off the ground and then use jack stands to support the axle so that you have enough access to install the rear sway bar part # RM-1139-149. The leveler jacks should be relied on as the only way to hold the motorhome off the ground but I would lower them anyway to use as a backup for in case the jack stands fail. Motorhomes are incredibly heavy so getting under one to work on it in any way is dangerous. As many fail safes as you can use...
