Roadmaster Anti-Sway Bar Installed

Benefits of an Anti-Sway System

The Roadmaster anti-sway bar does for side-to-side movement what a good pair of shocks does for up-and-down motion. You will notice a marked improvement in your vehicle's stability as the bar works to balance weight transfer and reduce body roll. The anti-sway bar acts as a link between your vehicle's frame and its rear axle, using the axle as a brace to more effectively balance the shifting weight of your vehicle as you maneuver it. Lubricated bushings allow just enough pivot and rotation to compensate for the pressure placed on one side of your vehicle when it goes into sudden maneuvers, hits crosswinds or encounters shifting weights.

Roadmaster Anti-Sway Polyurethane Bushings

Superior Construction

The Roadmaster anti-sway bar is made of 4140 chromoly, a chromium and molybdenum steel alloy. This type of steel is considerably harder and stronger than the standard 1020 steel that is typically used in anti-sway applications. In addition, the larger diameter of the bar increases its torsional roll stiffness. The result is a bar that is not only stronger than the competition, but also nearly 30 percent better at resisting sway. The polyurethane bushings and grommets used at the attachment points are durable yet flexible, ensuring that the system is neither so rigid nor so malleable that it becomes ineffective.

I purchased this part because of the rocking on my 2011 Tiifen 34TGA built on the Ford F53 frame. After searching I found this on etrailer and I have to say the video and customer support from etrailer is outstanding. The part came quickly. The install is straight forward as the video shows but be prepared for some hard work. Getting the bolts off the frame after years on the road requires a lot of muscle, my 12 gal compressor and Harbor Freight air wrench was not upto the task. You will need a torque wrench that goes upto the 300 ft/lbs required for the plate install. We had to use our legs to get to 300. After installing I took a long test drive and the difference in handling is amazing. Much less rocking and more stable. I would recommend this anti-sway bar to anyone with this Ford frame.

Comments
After a year of use the product is still rock solid and keeping my unit from rockin and rollin on the highway and local roads. I still recommend this for your MH on a the Ford F53 chassis.

2018 Ford F-53

Purchased Roadmaster front & rear anti-sway Bar and a Reflex steering stabilizer for a 2019 Winnebago Vista 27N. Heidi, etrailer.com customer representative, was extremely helpful assisting me with the order. Products were delivered in three days. The difference in which the RV rides with anti-sway bars and stabilizer installed is incredible. Much smoother ride with very little rocking. The RV is a lot easier to control when taking a turn. High winds and passing 18 wheelers are no longer an issue. The RV stays on course with very little effort on my part. Highly recommend these products for any RV no matter the size and a shot out to etrailer.com for their outstanding customer support attitude.

After installation there was a remarkably difference in how my Mirada Select 37TB handled. It’s close to 40’ with gas powered engine. Ford F53 chassis with V10. I will install front after feeling the improvement from the rear installation. Everything I needed was in the kit. The only hard part was cleaning up the threads on the existing u-bolts before removing. Highly recommend the upgraded, world of difference in my situation.

I highly recommend installing the sway bar. It, along with the suspension virtually did away with the lean during turns and definitely took away the fight to maintain lane position in the wind. Well worth the money.

Still loving it!! Have taken several trips and still recommend installing. Well worth it. You wont regret it.

We took our first trip with these installed over the last two months (April & May 2021 4,000 miles). All three of these were put on at the same time front & rear anti sway bars with the extended length U-bolts. The RV handled great.

I installed the anti-sway bar in April 2021 on my 2015 Fleetwood Southwind. I am very pleased with the ride improvement. it does reduce the sway on the rear end of the motorhome. Notice the difference when tractor trailers pass. Overall very pleased with install and product performance.

2017 Fleetwood Bounder Motorhome

The Roadmaster products are great. They fit as advertised and etrailer's videos are very helpful for installing. I would recommend you supply the grease in a small tube or other container. Both of my sway bar hardware kits had grease smeared all over the inside as the plastic grease container was crushed. I would highly recommend suggesting or requiring the inclusion of new U-Bolts when buying the rear sway bar or steering stabilizer. My Fleetwood Bounder started its life in Ohio before I brought it to California, and unfortunately there's considerable rust on the suspension components. Removing the U-Bolts was extremely difficult (applied rust penetrant and heat to break the nuts loose). I'm contemplating replacing the U-Bolts to ensure their structural integrity.

2019 Nissan Leaf

This was a pain to install as the bolts are so big and hard around the leaf springs. Once it has been in, it works great on our 2019 Coachmen Mirada 35BH. I would recommend it for antisway. I would have taken this in to install in the future as I didn't have the right equipment to torque to 300 ft pounds and had to borrow some.

Normally I do all my own mechanical work but I did not have to tools or lift to do this big of a project so I went to a local big truck mechanic to have the anti sway bar installed. They did a great job with the installation and it has definitely improved the driveability of our 36ft motor home. It is much more stable going down the road especially when passing big rig trucks.

My 2019 NewMar Bay Star is a well made class A built on a standard Ford F53 22,000 lb chassis. While the larger tires help with the ride compared to my old E450 Class C, passing traffic and turns caused significant swaying like a yacht on the ocean. After researching various suspension components, I chose to start with the rear anti-sway bar and had experience installing one on my previous Class C. etrailer almost always has the best pricing, so I purchased the RM-1139-149. Ordering was easy and it arrived quickly. I had my mechanic install it and he charged me 2 hours of labor. I took the RV on a road test making various turns across uneven surfaces and a 20 mile trip on the freeway. The improvement was significant; the majority of the rocking was gone and the wind effects were minimized. This will definitely help with driver fatigue. Highly recommended upgrade. Next, I'll be doing Sumo springs for my Class A.

Allegro

After owning an Allegro Openroad 32CA 2012 (3rd owner) for a few months we decided to buy the anti-sway bar to improve the driving stability of the RV. Very good service and good pricing from etrailer. I installed the anti-sway bar my self (not that complicated - just follow the video provided on etrailer website). We have also made the "cheap handling fix" on the front existing anti-sway bar and added a "Safe T Plus" steering control device. We have been driving about 8-9000 miles since these modifications and the overall the stability improvement have been very significant.

- RM-1139-149
by:

Helps control roll, but does not completely eliminate it if this is the only device used. I would recommend adding the "front" roadmaster anti-sway bar, and perhaps air bags or synthetic dampers all around. This could get expensive though. Make sure the coach you plan to modify is the coach that you will keep for a long time before investing that much in roll elimination.

The sway bar was a great improvement to the drivability of my motorhome. The installation was a breeze. Along with the anti-sway bar I added a steering stabilizer and front sumo. The products arrived in a timely manner and the instructions were very clear. Great products and customer service. These were installed on 2016 Winnebago Adventerer 38q.

2017 Winnebago Sunova Motorhome

After purchasing a 2017 Winnebago Sunova 36 Z, I realized there were several handling issues that needed to be dealt with to make the drive more comfortable. I researched and then asked the experts at etrailer to narrow down part numbers appropriate to my F53 chassis. With their guidance, I purchased "sumo- springs" front and rear, a "Roadmaster" steering stabilizer, and finally the "Roadmaster" rear sway bar. The addition of these parts has made the coach far more comfortable to drive. Not only does e trailer provide great assistance ordering coach-specific parts, but they provide awesome installation videos that are a great help. Thanks etrailer!!

I love the results of the sway bar. The results were immediate. It was much harder to install than the videos depicted and I had to take my motorhome to a tire store to torque to spec. Knowing that, I would buy again.

  • How To Increase Stability and Reduce Sway Of 2020 Bounder Motorhome on 2019 Ford F-53 Chassis
It sounds like you meant that the Fleetwood Bounder is on a 2019 Ford F-53 chassis which is very common. The first step in increasing the stability of the 2020 Fleetwood Bounder on the 2019 Ford F-53 chassis is to replace the factory sway bars.
