Roadmaster Anti-Sway Bar Installed

Benefits of an Anti-Sway System

The Roadmaster anti-sway bar does for side-to-side movement what a good pair of shocks does for up-and-down motion. You will notice a marked improvement in your vehicle's stability as the bar works to balance weight transfer and reduce body roll. The anti-sway bar acts as a link between your vehicle's frame and its rear axle, using the axle as a brace to more effectively balance the shifting weight of your vehicle as you maneuver it. Lubricated bushings allow just enough pivot and rotation to compensate for the pressure placed on one side of your vehicle when it goes into sudden maneuvers, hits crosswinds or encounters shifting weights.

Roadmaster Anti-Sway Polyurethane Bushings

Superior Construction

The Roadmaster anti-sway bar is made of 4140 chromoly, a chromium and molybdenum steel alloy. This type of steel is considerably harder and stronger than the standard 1020 steel that is typically used in anti-sway applications. In addition, the larger diameter of the bar increases its torsional roll stiffness. The result is a bar that is not only stronger than the competition, but also nearly 30 percent better at resisting sway. The polyurethane bushings and grommets used at the attachment points are durable yet flexible, ensuring that the system is neither so rigid nor so malleable that it becomes ineffective.

The sway bar installed quickly and with little problem. It totally controls body roll on this truck. I would have given a higher score except the end links provided in the kit from Roadmaster failed within seven months, or about 6000 miles. I replaced them with Moog. All quiet now.

Review from a similar Sway Bar with Bushing Kit in Anti-Sway Bars

Easy installs on my 2004 E-450. The new Roadmaster 1139-115 front sway bar and the Roadmaster 1139-147 rear sway bar greatly improved the handling and cornering of the motorhome. I have aDraw-Tite 65001 front mount receiver mounted and there were no problems when installing the front sway bar.

Comments
It is actually a pleasure to drive! When cornering the motorhome would lean and things would slide around and i even had kitchen drawers open. The problems that i had no longer exist. The cost and the work i did to install were well worth it!

Review from a similar Sway Bar with Bushing Kit in Anti-Sway Bars

The sway bar is high quality compared to the oem bar. I have a 2020 MBZ 2500 Sprinter 144. Basically, the roadmaster is three time the factory bar in terms of weight. And it shows. I took it on a ride down some winding roads and sharp turns and the back end feels much stiffer which equals control. I travel alot on Socal freeways to get to my destinations and it was very unnerving when driving next or passing freight trucks. I also pass through valleys and the winds can really making driving a bit uneasy. So, I anticipate this mod will add to my comfort level as well as my passengers. Time will tell. Now for some thing negative, well not quite but still some information buyers will need to know about installation. My van came with endlinks that were not compatible with the roadmaster. I knew this and order a set of end links for a 2019 model. Be aware that you will need new end links if you want to fit this bar to your 2020 model. At least that was the case for me. See pics. Overall, I'm satisfied and the cost is definitely worth the peace of mind.

Review from a similar Sway Bar with Bushing Kit in Anti-Sway Bars

This part was absolutely the right pick. I researched a lot of anti-sway products and this one came out on top due to its simple installation (thanks to the etrailer video), price and support from etrailer. It went on just like the video showed, though I had to use an impact wrench for the chassis bolts, the etrailer guy who used a wrench must be a beast. Definitely a DIY project even for novice mechanics. I test drove it and it was hands down the biggest improvement in ride even though I had put on new shocks and have air bags. etrailer is my go-to for nearly everything I do to my RV.

Review from a similar Sway Bar with Bushing Kit in Anti-Sway Bars

Considering the difference in diameter from stock to this upgrade I could feel the difference while driving. Easy to install with one minor obstacle. The factory left drop link bolt was installed between the fuel tank and the link mount which required us to remove the rear fuel tank bracket and pull the tank out far enough to pull the factory bolt out. The new bolt was installed towards the tank. Installed on ‘99 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4.

Was an fairly easy install with two people , has held up well so far . Helped stop sway with my top heavy truck camper load. At the time it was the only sway bar that fit the ram 3500 with 6.4 gas hemi due to exhaust system interference with other brands .

Review from a similar Sway Bar with Bushing Kit in Anti-Sway Bars

I think the anti-sway bar is the most noticeable. When I'm turning out of my driveway where there is a dip as I go over the curb-cut, for example, the sway seems limited moreso than before. As for the steering stabilizer, I think the RV seems a little harder to turn at a slow speed, but I don't notice a lot of difference in it's "springing back to straight" as I'm going down the highway. Some of that may be due to the crown of the road. I'm anxious to try it on the interstate to see if it is better there. Well, I drove on a smooth, level Interstate with a tailwind, and it handled like a dream. Bottom line, the biggest difference in driving is the wind and the road surface. These components probably help a little, but I'm not sure it was worth the cost. I'd like to think the RV handles a little better, but I'm not sure that isn't because I want it to after spending the $$$ for these upgrades.

Was ready to sell motorhome because it just was not comfortable to drive. Wife suggested we try the anti sway bars (front and rear) and they made a tremendous difference. Not worried abut semi's coming up on me, great difference in sway while turning, especially on highway ramps. No more gritting teeth and holding on with two hands. Winnebago Vista 29.9 VE. Front and rear anti-sway bars, steering stabilizer, sumo front springs.

Installed a Roadmaster 1-1/8" rear sway bar on my 97 Epedition 4wd. Massive improvement. Better steering response, and way less sway. Less fatigue while driving. Crosswinds are hardly noticable now. Very happy customer!

Review from a similar Sway Bar with Bushing Kit in Anti-Sway Bars

The Rear Anti-Sway Bar Kit for my Thor Four Winds (31') on a Ford E-450 chassis came with everything needed to do the install. The kit consists of high quality replacement parts and hardware along with installation instructions. The sway bar was easily installed. The on the road difference between the Ford sway bar and the Roadmaster was apparent immediately during the test drive. It greatly reduced that body roll experienced during cornering and improved the vehicle handling.

Review from a similar Sway Bar with Bushing Kit in Anti-Sway Bars

The package arrived in a timely manner, just as promised. The installation went as described in the instructions and everything fit well. It improved the handling quite a bit. I already had installed “Sumo Springs” last year (worked great) and the sway bar controlles the sway even more. One thing I can add is, get a long 1/2” drill bit (8” long) to help with drilling the front bracket holes. The drill chuck on my drill, hit the link tabs, causing me to drill at a slight angle (horizontal holes). The biggest problem I encountered is that the bar contacts the exhaust pipe (1/4” gap) and makes noise when driving (see photos) . I have a diesel and the exhaust pipe is about 3” in diameter, which doesn’t help. I’m trying to figure out how to resolve this issue. I will update when I do.

Comments
When the anti-sway bar is installed, it is in a set position, but because the exhaust uses rubber isolators that suspend it from the exhaust hangers, the actual position of the exhaust pipe can vary a bit. The good news is that the positioning of the exhaust can be modified a little bit by gently bending the exhaust hangers. If that doesnt work, you can go to a muffler shop and have the exhaust hangers relocated fairly inexpensively.

Comments
It should be a factory option. It controls the sway like I hoped it would. No issues one year later.

Review from a similar Sway Bar with Bushing Kit in Anti-Sway Bars

I purchased this part because of the rocking on my 2011 Tiifen 34TGA built on the Ford F53 frame. After searching I found this on etrailer and I have to say the video and customer support from etrailer is outstanding. The part came quickly. The install is straight forward as the video shows but be prepared for some hard work. Getting the bolts off the frame after years on the road requires a lot of muscle, my 12 gal compressor and Harbor Freight air wrench was not upto the task. You will need a torque wrench that goes upto the 300 ft/lbs required for the plate install. We had to use our legs to get to 300. After installing I took a long test drive and the difference in handling is amazing. Much less rocking and more stable. I would recommend this anti-sway bar to anyone with this Ford frame.

Comments
After a year of use the product is still rock solid and keeping my unit from rockin and rollin on the highway and local roads. I still recommend this for your MH on a the Ford F53 chassis.

Review from a similar Sway Bar with Bushing Kit in Anti-Sway Bars

I added the roadmaster rear and front anti-sway bars and front steering stabilizer to my 2016 coachman class C rv. It made a world of difference. They took out 90% (estimated) sway from wind and from trucks. It feels so much safer to drive. I would highly recommend this modification for any rv.

Review from a similar Sway Bar with Bushing Kit in Anti-Sway Bars

Shortly after installation, I took the RV on a 5,000+ miles road trip and this anti-sway bar (along with other suspension upgrades) allowed the trip to be more relaxing than if I had to white-knuckle it the whole way. I wanted to add a Roadmaster Rear Anti-sway bar, but could not get it in time for my trip. Therefore, had to settle for Hellwig (probably just as good)!

Received my 2019 E450 front Roadmaster sway bar yesterday and installed it today. Easy install, Instructions sheets was easy to understand. Did a test drive for 10 miles, Boy what a difference. Feels great , nice and tight , now have front and rear sway bars from Etrailer as well as steering stabilizer . makes my Class C handle much easier going down the road. These sway bars are much thicker than the ford standard bars. Etrailer has great videos to show all installs. Thanks Etrailer for all the info.

Review from a similar Sway Bar with Bushing Kit in Anti-Sway Bars

Overall very happy with purchase of front Anti-Sway bar. Installation required the use of torched heat and a 6 point socket to remove the two front bolts on the original Anti-Sway bar on my 2016 Ford E-450 (Thor Outlaw Class C). After using heat on the frame around the bolts for about 30 seconds, the bolts were easily removed. The new Anti-Sway bar was quite a bit larger than the original and fairly easy to install following supplied instructions. This completes the installation of the front and back Anti-Sway bars and the Loadmaster Reflex Steering Stabilizer. Final test drive tomorrow.

Comments
After a year I did add Sumo Springs and Koni shocks to the front. This completed my front suspension. I will eventually add the Sumo Springs to the rear. Overall very happy with the products I added to my suspension, starting with the Front and rear Anti-Sway bar.

  • How To Eliminate Sway On a 2018 Ram 2500 With Truck Bed Camper
The most beneficial component that you can add/upgrade to help eliminate sway is an anti-sway bar, the Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar part # RM-1129-135 in particular. The Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar will replace your factory sway bar and because it has a larger overall diameter will do a better job of helping to limit the sway you are experiencing with your truck bed camper at highway speed. The Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar also comes with polyurethane bushings that are more durable...

The Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar # RM-1129-135 that fits your 2018 Ram 2500 with 4WD replaces the factory anti-sway bar, and just like the aftermarket anti-sway bars for motorhomes, they are an improved version of an anti-sway bar, made from 4140 chromoly steel which is a high-grade steel that means they are much stronger than standard steel. The anti-sway bar will be an upgrade but I also highly recommend adding air bags for additional suspension enhancement. The Firestone Ride-Rite...

Installing the Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar # RM-1129-135 on your 2018 Ram 1500 will help with sway while an air bag kit like the Firestone # F2595 will not only help with that sway, but it will also help with rear sag. If you're leaning towards something that is maintenance free and helps with the sway then go with the anti-sway bar. For something that offers more control and will help with rear sag then definitely go with an air bag kit. Let me know what you're looking to get out...

Yes, the Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar # RM-1129-135 that you referenced will help reduce sway and help stabilize the vehicle, especially with the other suspension components that you are also upgrading. However, a properly loaded trailer is the best defense against trailer sway. You will want to make sure you have as much weight as far forward on the trailer as possible.
