The Air Command F3 air control system from Firestone lets you monitor and adjust your vehicle's air springs from inside or outside of your cab. The wireless remote controls a dual-path system that gives you the ability to level your vehicle front to back and side to side. And the easy-to-read digital gauge on the remote offers real-time air pressure readings so that you can monitor the springs.

Dual-Path Compressor System

The Air Command F3 is a dual-path system. This means you can put the same amount of air in both springs or you can adjust the two air springs independently of each other. So aside from leveling your vehicle front to back, you can also level it side to side by putting a different amount of air into each spring. This allows you to even out an off-center load.

The light-duty, 12-volt air compressor is great for occasional towing and light loads.

Wireless Remote with Digital Gauge

Firestone Ride-Rite wireless remote with digital gauge

The wireless remote allows you to either adjust your air springs from the comfort of your cab or stand outside and watch your vehicle as you level it. The user-friendly remote gives you complete control of the air springs, making it easy to fine-tune the springs based on your load. Simply select which air springs you want to adjust: left, right, or both. And then use the plus and minus buttons to increase or decrease the air pressure of the selected springs. Hit the enter button and the springs will inflate or deflate.

The M1 and M2 buttons are used to set and activate memory presets. The presets let you quickly switch back and forth between previously established air pressure settings, which can be a major timesaver. For example, if you frequently tow the same trailer, you can use a memory button to store the correct air pressure settings for that trailer. Then use the other memory button to store the air pressure settings needed when you're not towing.

A digital gauge with LED display is built into the remote. The gauge provides real-time air pressure readings so you can monitor the springs and make precise adjustments to them.

The gauge also displays error codes when a problem occurs with the system so that you know when you need to do some troubleshooting.

Firestone wireless remote with digital gauge

The wireless remote can be mounted to your dashboard with the included sleeve and Velcro patches. The remote uses (2) CR2032 coin cell batteries (included). And the energy-efficient LED display has a pre-programmed sleep cycle that further reduces energy use, thereby lengthening battery life.

Installation

The system comes with the air compressor, single-piece electronic control unit (ECU) and valve block, wiring harness, fuse tap, air line, and hardware. The installation of the air compressor and ECU can be simplified with a no-drill mount kit (sold separately).

The ECU and valve block are a single unit that can be mounted anywhere. The unit's durable housing stands up to moisture, road chemicals, salt spray, and extreme temperatures. Air lines and wiring are plugged into the same side of the ECU for ease of installation.

The air compressor has a direct-drive motor, which means that it doesn't require oil or belts, so it can be mounted in any position.

Video Transcript for Firestone Air Command F3 Compressor System Review

Speaker 1: Today we're be having a look at the Firestone Air Command F3 Compressor System, with wireless remote, and light duty compressor, part number F2581. Here's what our compressor system looks like installed. This is a completely wireless compressor. What that means is, we don't have to worry about running any power wires, or air lines through the firewall of our vehicle into our cab to actually control the system. It's all done via this handheld remote, which you can actually use outside of the vehicle, pretty far distance away from the vehicle, so you can actually check to make sure your vehicle's level after you hook up to your trailer, or you have a heavy load placed in the bed of your truck. Now this is a dual path system. What sets this apart from other compressor systems on the market, besides the fact that it's wireless as well, what that means is you can actually control each side of your truck independently. This side here's our driver side, this one here is our passenger side.

So if you have an uneven load in the bed of your truck, and you have more weight on one side, and you want to have your vehicle ride level, what you could do is add more air to one side, take some air out of the other side. Or however you need to do it in order to get your truck sit lever, get you that comfortable ride you're looking for.Alternatively, another thing you can do with this system, if you have two sets of airbags, meaning you have a complete, on all four corners on your vehicle, so if you have a front set and rear set, what you can do is have this system control your rear set here, or your front set here. But typically a vehicle is only going to have a set of airbags in the rear of it, especially on a truck. So, that's how we have ours set up today.Okay, so now we have both of our airbags at five psi. If we want to change our air pressure, we just press the enter button a couple times, this will change our driver side.

Press it again, this will change just our passenger side. Press it one more time, where you can change both. If you want to take air away, you press minus. Want to add air, you press plus. Five pounds of psi is the minimum that we can go down to.Okay, now we have 10 psi in our airbag system.

We have 10 in both bags. If we press the enter the button once, we can adjust the air pressure in the driver side. We press it again, we can adjust the air pressure on the passenger side. Press it one more time, we can adjust it in both. So, lets raise it on up to 15 on both airbags by pressing the plus key.

Press the enter button again. And you can watch the counter going up. Now we have 15 pounds of air pressure in both bags. Now let's say we have an uneven load and we have more weight in the bed of the truck on the passenger side, so we don't need as much air on the driver side. So, press the enter button, and we'll just take all the air out of our driver side bag. Once again, lock it in. You can hear the air being released now. Okay, now we're at five pounds in our driver side bag, and 15 pounds in our passenger bag.And we can adjust it as needed depending on our load in the vehicle. Typically, if we're using this to level our vehicle out, if we're towing a trailer, we'd do it where they're both being adjusted at the same time. We'd only really worry about that if we have weight in the actual bed of our truck from hauling cargo. So, we're going to bring them both of these back to the original 15 psi.Now we have two programmable memory functions that we can use, so if we're not towing a trailer, we can press the Memory 1 button, we can have this be our unloaded setting, press enter. We press the enter button again, to lock it in, and it'll air the system down to your memory setting. Your Memory 2 function could be if you're towing a trailer on like a consistent basis that has a heavy load. You can use this one to preset that one in. In our case Memory 2 is set for 20 psi right now. We press the enter button again, and it'll automatically inflate our airbags on up to 20 psi. This system is easily mounted on most any vehicle out there. As long as you have a space on your frame that is 5-7/16 of an inch long, and an inch and a half wide, you will have room to mount your compressor. As far as the ECU goes, as long as you have a spot on your frame, that is seven by 5-1/2 inches, shouldn't have any problem mounting that. You can also mount the ECU elsewhere that's not on the frame. Sometimes you can even mount it to the bed of our truck, underneath. When the compressor is running, it only draws 11 amps of power. So it doesn't put a large strain on our battery. So if we're doing adjustments on our system with the engine not running in our truck, or our vehicle, we don't have to worry about the battery being run down, and our truck not wanting to start. The great thing about the remote, just making our adjustments inside the cab as we need to. And it'll kick on automatically. Barely even here the compressor inside the cab at all.And that completes our look at the Firestone Air Command F3 Compressor System with wireless remote, and light duty compressor, part number F2581.

So far so good. This is a pretty complex install especially with ‘19 and ‘20 power systems. It’s not as simple as “hooking to the battery”. 716907

Great product. Easy to install. Took around 2 1/2 hours. Not bad at all. Works great 501595

Excellent unit, easy install, except the hardware kit comes with bolts and nut which are fine on a C rail frame. With my frame being a boxed tube frame I chose to use stainless steel self drilling screws, and I also took extra time to run my wire harness thru the frame rail to, less wire ties that and protected better. Also has a convenient hand held remote with dual control and memory settings Yes I would recommend this product. Before and after pics of where installed 660298

The Firestone Air Command Wireless remote is exactly what I needed to lift my truck when pulling my heavy trailer. The First unit I got the remote wouldn't connect to the ECU Module. E trailer talked to Firestone and I had another new complete system shipped to me in 2 days. The Remote instructions need to be more detailed. If you want to raise or lower the vehicle, after you make the setting for the bags press the enter button twice to activate the system. This was trial and error for me to figure it out. THANKS to E TRAILER for the fast assistance in helping me resolve the problem of the first system. I would Recommend BUYING THE NO DRILL BRACKET. I did and it worked like a dream. Thank you Sherry R and Katie D, two great employees call ask ask for them when ordering any products 322116

I like the convenience of being able to air up the bags from inside the cab. My only issue is the bags after sitting for awhile, the air compressor comes on and airs the bags up. I cannot find a leak anywhere in the tubing. I am assuming there is a leak in the bags. Less than a year old, and I am not sure what to do about it. 599665

Comments
The most common spot for a small air leak to occur is at the point where the air lines enter the fittings on the springs. If the air lines are not cut perfectly square they will leak every time, which is why I recommend using a tubing cutter like # AL10530
Air Lift Air Hose Cutter
$19.95
. You can check this by spraying a soapy water solution 3 tablespoons liquid dish detergent per quart of water on the connection. If you see any bubbles forming, theres a leak.
