Cold air is denser than hot air, and denser air provides more oxygen for more complete fuel combustion. More oxygen = more combustion = more power and better efficiency for your engine. The Airaid Cold Air Dam (CAD) intake system applies this simple formula to ramp up your engine's horsepower and torque.

Cold Air Dam Intake System

The CAD system retains the stock location of your air filter but utilizes a more open design that draws in more cold, dense air than your factory closed box. Unlike many similar systems, the CAD system also has an air dam that helps to block hot engine air. The air dam consists of a powder coated steel heat shield that surrounds the air filter and is lined with a rubber gasket that creates a seal with the hood of your vehicle. This isolates the air filter from engine heat - all the way up to the hood - thus helping to ensure that the air that is pulled into the system is cooler and denser.

The rotomolded intake tube also generates more airflow to the engine. The tube's smooth, wide-open design delivers high-volume, high-velocity air into the throttle body. Not only does the tube allow air to flow along an unrestricted path, but it is also free of noise baffles that would hinder airflow. And the cross-linked, high-density polyethylene construction resists heat better than steel or aluminum tubing.

SynthaFlow Oiled Air Filter

This Airaid intake kit includes a SynthaFlow oiled air filter that offers improved airflow and has a 99.6-percent filtration rate for superior protection. The large, 360-degree conical filter is composed of 4 layers of oiled cotton gauze that filter out contaminants while allowing clean air through. A fifth layer of synthetic material acts as a barrier to keep oil from leaking through and causing damage to any sensors on the intake tract. The cotton and synthetic materials are sandwiched between 2 layers of stainless steel mesh that provide rigid durability.

This Airaid SynthaFlow filter is washable and reusable. It is recommended that you clean and re-oil your SynthaFlow filter every 30,000 to 50,000 miles with an Airaid cleaning and oiling kit (sold separately).
