Video Transcript for etrailer Trailer Jack RVLG-HDL Review

Today we're going to take a look at the Manual Crank Handle for etrailer and Ram Fifth Wheel Landing Gear. This will replace the crank from your etrailer or Ram Landing Gear set part number RVLG-8HDL, which we sell separately. It also can be added to manually operate your landing gear set, part number RVLG-8000. This is used in case of power or mechanical failure. This crank handle lets you manually retract or extend the fifth wheel landing gear leg. If you notice the handles right here, they're a hard plastic handle grip and they are free-spinning.

Makes it easy to rotate. It's a durable steel construction. It has a nice corrosion resistant zinc plated finish. I'm going to give you some measurements on this. The total length, not including the handle, from end to end, is going to be right at 27 inches. Just the handle length, is going to be right at about 4 inches.

The handle radius, which is going to be from the center here to the center of that handle, is going to be right at about 8-1/2 inches. That should do it for the review on the Manual Crank Handle for etrailer and Ram Fifth Wheel Landing Gear.

I purchased this handle along with new landing gear, but it didn't actually work. My camper has a smaller guide tube that this handle won't fit inside. The old handle worked fine, my mistake. The new handle is also longer. It is good quality and nicer than my old one. I am happy with the purchase, and I can use it on something else, but I didn't need to buy it. 441256

  • Replacement Landing Gear Motor and Gear Box Needed for a 2004 Keystone Montana 2980
I do have a solution for you, but unfortunately manufacturers don't keep that kind of information on file. You could try using a replacement gearbox like part # RVLG-RDBOX and the compatible motor # M1230 that fits Ram jacks, but without knowing the manufacturer and part number it would just be a guess as to whether it is the correct part or not. What I recommend doing is going ahead and just replacing your whole landing gear setup. It might be getting close to time to do that anyways...

  • Dimensions of Replacement Crank Handle # LG-119226
The inner diameter of the Replacement Crank Handle # LG-119226 where it connects to the landing gear is 1/2" while the diameter of the outer sleeve on the landing gear end is 3/4". Please note that this is designed for use with Stromberg Carlson landing gear # LG-1, # LG-2, # LG-3, # LG-4, or # LG-183708. It can fit with a lot of other brands like Atwood or Lippert but if you don't have this landing gear just let me know what you have and I can see if we have one that is compatible with...

  • Compatibility of Replacement Crank Handle
The Replacement Crank Handle for etrailer and Ram 5th Wheel Landing Gear # RVLG-HDL is designed to be a replacement handle for Landing Gear Set # RVLG-8HDL. Replacement handles attach to landing gear in a number of ways so they need to be matched with their manufacturer. For example, # LC119226 is a replacement manual crank for Lippert Components landing gear. Once you take a look at the manufacturer of your landing gear, just go to the link I've attached which has each of our available...

  • Best Landing Gear Upgrade Options for 5th Wheel Trailer
We do have motors that you can add to your landing gear. For example, the Landing Gear Set # RVLG-8000 can be operated with the manual crank # RVLG-HDL but you can also add the motor # M1230 and switch # LG-145236 for effortless operation on your end. The next upgrade for landing gear is the Ultra-Fab Deluxe Electric Landing Gear Set # UF17-943010. This is rated for up to 12,000 lbs and operates via separate motors so you can easily level your 5th wheel trailer without using blocks like...

  • Is there a Way to Identify 5th Wheel Trailer Landing Gear with No Markings
It is possible that there is a part number somewhere that would help identify the landing gear on your trailer. Sometimes there is information on the underside of the caps on the tops of the jacks so that is another place you can check if you haven't already. Many landing gear parts are interchangeable among the different manufacturers but this is not always the case so identifying the manufacture and/or model number is important. Another option is to replace the landing gear with...

  • How To Install the Landing Gear Set Part # RVLG-8000
The installation of the Landing Gear Set part # RVLG-8000 will be fairly straight forward. Basically, you will need to have a metal support structure so you can attach welded tabs part # LC113511 to it, 15-1/2" apart. Once these are installed you can then mount the jack tube and modify a cross-shaft that connects the two together which is included. Then, you will need to obtain a handle, the Crank Handle part # RVLG-HDL to raise and lower the legs. Unfortunately, we do not have a video...

  • Atwood Landing Gear Replacement for 36" Long Landing Gear
To replace the Atwood landing gear on your 5th wheel trailer you will need to measure the distance between your weld stops. This is typically 15-1/2" on the inside and 17-1/2" on the outside (see attached photo). We do have replacement options but since Atwood is no longer in the landing gear business you need to replace your whole landing gear set to ensure that the gear ratio and strengths are the same. If your weld stop locations match the picture then I recommend using the 8,000...

  • Troubleshooting Atwood Landing Gear Leg That Doesn't Move
It sounds like the screw itself is damaged if the motor and gears are turning but the leg isn't moving. Atwood no longer is in the 5th wheel landing gear business so I recommend replacing your landing gear completely. The reason you would need to change out your whole set is because both legs need to move at the same ratio so that your trailer raises and lowers evenly on both sides. Since replacement parts are already becoming scarce for Atwood landing gear it would be better in the...

If this is the case then I highly recommend the Landing Gear Set # RVLG-8000 because it is a cost-effective solution that has a total lift of 36-1/2" and is rated for 8,000 lbs.
