Video Transcript for etrailer Trailer Brake Bearing Kit Review

We're going to be taking a look at, and showing you how to install etrailer's bearing kit for 13 inch rotors, with an eight and six and a half bolt pattern. We just got done installing a disc brake setup on our trailer here, and this is a great opportunity to replace your bearings. You're going to have to remove your old ones to install the new disc brake kit. Now, in this particular case, our bearings we're the same number, so we could have potentially reused them, but it's not really recommended to reuse your old bearings, as the races for the outer race, for both of our bearings, are pre-installed inside of our rotor, and the old bearings are worn already to match the races that are in your old hubs. So if you try to put those in here, it could potentially cause them to prematurely wear, because they're not matched.Being able to use a new set of bearings with new races is it going to allow them to break in and properly wear with each other. This bearing kit's going to come with everything you'll need to complete one axle. That's two hubs, one for each side of our axle. We're only showing you one side of it here, but you do get twice as much as you'll see here. You've got your inner bearing, your outer bearing, your grease seal, as well as new lug nuts that work with nine 16 diameter lugs. This is for an eight lug setup, so you are going to get 16 lugs with it.These bangs are going to make great replacements for your factory bearings, if you have any damage to them that typically occurs, if the bearings get moisture down inside the caps, your grease seals leaks, and it lets moisture in, or the grease seal leaks and the the grease gets out, that can all cause to premature bearing wear. When you pull your bearings out and you inspect them to see if they needed to be replaced, you're going to be looking for pitting.

Now, our bearings here we're in pretty good shape. We had removed these old bearings here from our trailer and I inspected them, and they looked like they we're pretty decent shape, but we needed to replace our old bearings here to get our new disc brakes set up and running, because we we're originally removing a drum brakes set up.If you're switching over from a drum to a disc brake setup, a lot of times you will need to change your bearings to make sure that the bearings matches both the new rotor, as well as the spindle on your axle.In your kit, the bearing sizes that you'll receive is a 02475, and you can see that written here on the back of the bearing, and it's important that you know where the numbers are, because whenever you're replacing your bearings, you'll want to inspect your old bearings to verify the numbers. For our inner bearing, you can see here it is a 22580.You'll receive two inners, two outers, and again, we talked about the lug nuts, as well as the seals. Our seal that comes in our kit is going to be a GS2250DL.Now this kit's great for 8,000 pound axles, like we had just swapped over our drum brakes set up here, but these do work with a lot of different type of axle sizes. Particularly these are mostly with your seven and 8,000 pound axles, but there are other ones that they do fit, and in most cases, this is all going to work fine. Now this grease seal here is a two and a quarter inch inner diameter, which is the most common size grease seal that you're going to find on your seven and 8,000 pound axles. If you do have a 6,000 pound axle, however, sometimes it is a two and a quarter, and sometimes it may be a two and an eighth inch inner diameter, so you will want to double-check that part number for your grease seal, and you can see it's written on here.

The one on your trailer is going to be written on there as well. Now, when you go to replace your bearings, you always want to double-check the numbers on your bearings, to make sure you're getting the appropriate ones that you need, as we've got many different kits available here at etrailer.com, with various bearing sizes, seals, and races. The easiest way to check it, is to just check your outer bearing. In most cases, you'll be able to use your outer bearing number to determine which kit that you'll need, and that way you don't have to take the whole assembly off. You can just take your cap off here, take your nut off, you can wipe this bearing off on the inside, read your numbers, and then just put it back together. The only time you really need to dig deeper on those, is if you have the smaller axles, those 6,000 pounds, so you can check your grease seal and things like that. And that completes our look at etrailer's bearing kit for 13 inch rotors with an eight on six and a half bolt pattern..

Only wish the bearings would have been US made for better quality

Not a whole lot to say... Bearings all fit right, and the seal went in as it should. Arrived on time and worked fine.

by:

Product seems great, the packaging arrived quite damaged and I am missing a lug nut.

I don't normally take the time to write reviews since I am so terribly busy but I really feel the need to tell others of the outstanding service I have received on this order and all the others I have placed with etrailer.com. With this particular order I was notified that it was on back order and the time it would take for me to receive it. It continued to be on back order past the original delivery time and so on. etrailer.com continued to take the time to inform me of the delay that was at no cause of theirs. I was informed by phone and updated regularly by email. They went out of their way to keep me informed. This was a great help for me and my customer. I have never been disappointed with the service. Their pricing is fair and shipping is fast. I would recommend them as reliable and friendly with all the best products.
