Passenger's-side electric brake measures 12" x 2". Brake pads are made of durable friction material for improved braking and longevity. E-coated backing plate resists rust. Fits 14-1/2", 15", 16", and 16-1/2" wheels.

Features:

  • Electric brakes are easier to install and offer more user control than hydraulic brakes
    • Requires only an electric brake controller (sold separately) - no actuator or hydraulic lines necessary
  • Automotive-grade friction material is molded to brake shoes
    • Pads are fully bonded - not riveted - to shoes for long life and more braking torque
    • Less chance of cracking and crumbling that can lead to mechanical lockup, thanks to tapered edge and circular grinding
  • Periodic manual adjustment required
    • Fine-tooth brake adjustment gear allows for a more precise setting
  • E-coated backing plate resists wear and corrosion
  • Adjuster plugs (included) cover access holes to keep dirt and grime out of the assembly and off of the shoes
  • Mounting bolts and hardware (BRKH12S) sold separately
  • QAI and CSA certified

Specs:

  • Application: most standard hub-and-drum assemblies, including Dexter, Lippert (LCI), and AL-KO
  • Configuration: right hand (passenger's side)
  • Dimensions: 12" diameter x 2" wide
  • Mounting flange bolt pattern: 5 bolt
  • Wheel size: 14-1/2", 15", 16", and 16-1/2"
  • Axle rating: 5,200 lbs, 6,000 lbs, and 7,000 lbs
  • Limited 1-year warranty

Manual-Adjust Brake

With repeated use of this brake assembly, the brake shoes may move out of alignment, causing less efficient braking performance. To keep the brake shoes aligned and the brake assembly performing correctly, you should perform routine maintenance.

This brake assembly should be adjusted after installation and then as needed for the life of the brake. To adjust the brake, use a brake adjustment screw tool (sold separately) to turn the adjustment gear on the inside of the assembly. Continue to turn the gear until the drum surrounding the brake catches on the brake pads enough so that the hub can no longer be turned easily by hand. Then reverse the gear by about 10 clicks. A properly adjusted brake should drag slightly on the brake drum.

Thoroughly Tested for Safety

This brake assembly meets the requirements for certification by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). The CSA creates standards, which when complied with ensure a safe and quality product. This brake assembly underwent extensive testing to measure stopping distances when braking. This brake has also been tested by QAI for braking performance in a complete automotive setup and under real-world conditions to provide the most realistic scenario for the everyday driver.

Automotive-Grade Friction Material

Each shoe on this brake assembly is lined with automotive-grade friction material for improved stopping performance and longevity. The friction material is fully bonded onto the surface of the brake shoe. This lining is custom-molded for a perfect fit. The edges are tapered to ensure long-lasting performance. This taper, along with the circular grinding that the lining undergoes, helps to prevent cracking and crumbling. This durability helps to prevent mechanical lockup, which can occur when brake shoes are excessively worn or broken.

The friction material is also SAE-N certified, which means that it is an environmentally safe product that complies with California and Washington regulations regarding the composition of brake pads. As a result, this material not only provides high-performance braking that can endure the test of time, but it is also environmentally friendly and safe for use throughout the United States and Canada.

Arrived just when I needed them! Fairly easy to install on our horse trailer and worked without a hassle. Even with 2nd day shipping, was a much cheaper option to local alternatives. Did not take a pic after they were installed, but they arrived looking just like the picture on the site.

Excellent choice. I am very happy with my order. My trailer was done in no time. Brakes I ordered fit perfectly. Now it's done and I am happy and so as everyone on the road. Thanks etrailer.

Excellent---- Web site is easy to navigate & has informative pages.
Prices continue to beat my local trailer sales.
Even though etrailer is on east coast & i'm located in mid west, I get deliveries in 2-3 days.
Parts are packaged well & have always shown up in excellent condition.

Still on my 5th wheel and holding up as expected. Great price on these.

These brakes are excellent. I have had zero issues with them since the day they were installed.

NOTE: On average I haul around 8K lbs and also not often so take my review with a grain of salt. Sometimes the load is heavy (a front end loader) and other times it's not (trash run). Either scenario, no issues. A quick gain adjustment and brake check and I'm gone. I checked the bearing play after a week or so and around the 8 month mark. Both times were A+. I think I'm 17 months into ownership. They're still working flawlessly.

When new, these drums had little OOR (out-of-round) which surprised me. Most drums have some sort of noticeable OOR. These no so much. My trailer stops quietly and effortlessly now. No pulsation, skipping, tugging, etc.

Would I buy these again? ABSOLUTELY!!

I ordered 4 non-self adjusting brake sets and recieved 2 self adjusting right sides and 2 non-self adjusting left sides. I needed the project to be complete and I installed them. When i tok the out of the boxs, there was some rebuilding as things were out of alignment from shipping. Initial adjustments on both sets was a little more time consuming because of the lack of large adjustments, but once set they are great. The electrical hook ups were easy. They stop my 5000+lb camp trailer just fine. Finally, hardware being purchased separately is annoying. They should be packaged together and the hardware should be free with purchase of the brake sets.

by:

Simple to install. Exact replacement for my '95 Sundowner Horse Trailer which is 5k lbs empty.
Still plenty of pad left after a year.
Powerful. Now my Truck stops better with the trailer attached!

by:

Brake assembly is a perfect fit and reasonably priced. Provides a good way to change out the brake assembly. It would be good to include a set of wire splice connectors to complete the kit.

by:

These were a perfect replacement on our dump trailer at a much more reasonable price. I didn't see any difference in quality between these and assemblies at double the cost. Next time I need trailer parts I will probably shop around, (that's just what I do) then go to etrailer.com to buy.

by:

Very good bang for the buck, makes it not worthwhile to put parts or shoes on an old assembly. After the shoes seated in, i readjusted and they have been great. One note is that it does not include the fasteners to hold the assembly to the axle, so you will either need to reuse yours (mine were rusted to h*ll and back) or plan to make a trip to the hardware store.

by:

Brakes came in quick. 3 days I believe. Work great. They were replacements for my 25 ft gooseneck that I haul hay with. Only thing that would make them better is if they came with no butt connectors for the wiring.

by:

It fit perfectly and since it was a complete assembly you didn't have to mess around with replacing brake shoes or the magnets. Plus, it was cheaper than replacing the individual parts.

by:

They were exactly what was described, easy installation and hook up. Customer service was excellent as well, one of the backing plates got damaged through shipping. I notified etrailer right away and they had a new one shipped out the same day with no additional cost.

by:

We ordered a right hand electric brake assembly on our first order. The next day we called and had to order the left hand also. They both came together,in a very timely manner.Everyone we spoke with was very helpful and respectful. The product was of great quality .We were very pleased! We will definantly order from this company again. We highly recommend .

by:

I received order one box was torn in shipping i think most all the bolts are there . I had 3 surgeries this year i had to put trailer project on hold . I'm ready to get started any day now I'll send pictures when done .

by:

Excellent way to replace the shoes and all the other parts needed for electric brakes. I have installed 2 on my trailer and I know the other axle will be getting these also. The brakes work very well.

by:

Trailer brakes and drums arrived is perfect condition. Put them on the same afternoon they arrived. The fit is great and installation was easy. Great product for the do-it-yourself-er.

by:

Ordering was easy. My part arrived in a timely manner. I will be using etrailer again when I change out the other electric brake assembly on my trailer.
Good job

by:

Such a great price on the entire unit that it doesn't make sense just to replace the brake shoes. Such an easy process and eliminates the need to fuss with all the parts involved on a drum brake system! Just bolt on, connect the wires and your done!

Thanks eTrailer!

by:

All parts were a perfect fit, 2 hours per wheel change out including repack bearings, brakes were simple to adjust, took the 32ft 5th wheel on road test, after getting brake controller dialed in the brakes worked extremely well, was very satisfied precise bolt holes matching up to 5200lb axle

  • 5,200 Lb Timbren Axle-Less System With Compatible Hub, Drum and Electric Brakes
The Warner-style brake assemblies are no longer made and replacement parts are essentially non-existent at this point, so really your best option is going to be replacing your hub and drum as well as brake assemblies. You may also need to weld on a new brake mounting flange, which will be determined by the diameter of your axle. In order to find the correct replacement hubs for your trailer you need to know the weight rating of your axle, and also what bearings your current hub has. You...

If your brake assemblies mount on a plate using 5 bolts, you most likely would be looking for a 12 inch diameter brake assembly like part # AKEBRK-6R and # AKEBRK-6L, but you could verify this by measuring directly across the center of your drum or the brake assembly. To recommend the correct hub drum for your application, I would need to know your current hub bolt pattern, as well as the bearings it uses. You will also just want to take note of the axle capacity on your trailer, as this assembly is designed for 5,200 to 6,000 pound axles. • Trailer Brakes Lock Up When Hooked to Breakaway Battery
It sounds like you found out why the brakes were activated while you were towing the trailer to storage, so that solves that problem. Now we will want to figure out why the brakes are still locking up with the new breakaway switch. Even if you fried the brake magnets, the brakes should not lock up if the breakaway system is setup properly.
