Today we're gonna take a quick look at the replacement spring pin for the Double Down and Double Down Ace bike racks.This is going to be the replacement for the release pin to tilt your bike rack away from your vehicle. Maybe yours got damaged or busted off somewhere along the way and you need a new one. This is going to be a direct replacement from Yakima for your Double Down or Double Down Ace.Those part numbers for the Double Down, that's gonna be Y02423, Y02424, or Y02425.The Double Down Ace would be the Y02450, Y02451, or Y02452.Now if your bike rack is any one of those part numbers, this will work out just fine.As far as the dimensions, it's going to measure about four and a half inches long from the tip to the top of the button there. The button diameter, the handle diameter, is gonna be about one and a half inches, and then we'll have this threaded portion there. The diameter on that is going to be about three quarters of an inch, going to the outside of the threads.It is going to have that spring mechanism so as we pull up, it's going to pull up on that pin, releasing our bike rack down into that tilted position.Again, it's going to be a direct replacement from Yakima for your Double Down or your Double Down Ace.That's gonna do it for our look at the replacement pin for Double Down and Double Down Ace bike carriers.

Katrina B - 07/06/2022Exactly what I needed. The original spring pin fell out after working lose, which I had not noticed. Used Permatex Threadlocker to prevent it from happening again. This fits my Yakima DoubleDown ACE 4-Bike Hitch Mount Rack which was not specifically listed but the DoubleDown 2 bike rack was listed so I assumed they were the same and fortunately it worked.
Needed to replace the Release Spring pin on a Yakima Double Down 4 Bike Carrier. Original Pin had become badly rusted and we were unable to completely remove the rust. This replacement was the perfect fit. Easy to install and came already well lubricated in a plastic sealed bag. Works better than the original- perhaps the lubrication inside the cylinder will help it last longer ! :0) Back on the road thanks to the helpful people at etrailer.com
Bought as a replacement because the knob came off the original and was lost. Compared to the original pin that I had this one is superior. The end is rounded, not flat, and the knob has a retaining pin to keep it securely attached. It is a direct fit replacement so I unscrewed the old and screwed in the new one. It does not get any easier. Shipping was quick and the item arrived in fine shape.
