Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the replacement ZipStrip with the Cradle for the Yakima Hanging Style Bike Racks. Now this part here replaces a broken or damaged ZipStrip or the SuperCrush Cradle that's on your Yakima Hanging Style Bike Rack. This will fit the Yakima RidgeBack, the Yakima FullTilt, the Yakima FullSwing and the Yakima LongHaul bike racks. And as we mentioned, it includes the ZipStrip and the Super Crush Cradle.

Basically, your ZipStrip will go right the sides here and then you can see, you pull these to the tightness that you need. And then to loosen it, just push it on this and you can slide it right out. The Replacement ZipStrip with Cradle for Yakima Hanging Style Bike Racks # Y63KV is only compatible with the following Yakima racks: - RidgeBack - FullTilt - FullSwing - LongHaul If you don't have one of these racks then you unfortunately won't be able to upgrade to a different cradle kit. For an upgrade we can get you a new bike rack, but that's the only way to get better strips to secure your bikes.

Bike Rack Solution to Carry Bikes with Wider Carbon Frames
The cradle width the zip straps you mentioned is designed to fit is 1-3/4 inches wide so it doesn't look like the # Y63KV would work for you. Since your bike is carbon you really don't want to use a hanging bike rack anyway since they can damage the frame since carbon is a much more fragile material. You will want to use a bike rack that only touches the bike by the tires like the RockyMounts MonoRail part # RKY10004 for a 2 bike or part # RKY10004-10005 for a three bike.
