Today we're going to be taking a look at the Yakima LoadStop brackets for Yakima roof rack cross rails. Part number is Y05000. As you can see, these sturdy, l-shaped brackets mount right onto a Yakima Round Bar roof rack system. These are going to protect loads from shifting or from sliding side to side, giving us a good firm stop. This is perfect for those higher loads that come up that we really need to stabilize. Also, it's going to work great for ladders, canoes, lumber, or any kind of boat with an open hull that we can place on here that will be narrow enough to go between our foot packs of course. Now they're designed to be fully adjustable.
Loosen it up a little bit more. We can slide this in and out depending on the style of load that we're using so it's not like we have to pick a setting and stick with it. We can adjust this depending on whatever our load might be that day. They're very hard plastic, heavy duty construction. They've got little ribs in here that are going to help grip the items that we're transporting and keep that protected, but the LoadStops themselves, really heavy duty and it will be a nice long-lasting product.
These are great to use with any kind of heavy duty tie-down strap or if you're using a boat and a canoe you will want to do your bow and stern tie-downs. Really good product, really simple to use. now the LoadStops couldn't be easier to install. As you can see, we've got a nice large circular opening there. We'll just take this right up, we'll spread that out slightly and allow it to clip right around our bar as you can see there. We're now going to have a carriage bolt, a carriage-style bolt.
You see here it's got the little square on the bottom. We're going to place that right into the square on the front side. We'll then place on our flat washer, our serrated washer. The flat washer goes on, serrated washer goes on, then we've got the large black t-handle. It's going to go on right behind it.
Adjust it where we want it and then just tighten it down. Doesn't need a whole lot of torque or a whole lot of pressure. As you can see, nice and secure and snug. Now let's go ahead and get our ladder loaded up. we're going to demonstrate it with that today just so you can see how it works, how easy it is to adjust. Place our ladder right up and on. We'll get it centered where we want it, loosen that t-handle up that we just talked about, and we'll slide those stops right in where they come up against it and make good contact there. I'm just going to repeat the process for the remaining ones that we have here. inaudible 00:03:10 until it's nice and snug and then just tighten them down. Finally our last one here on the front. As you can see, those can be prepositioned. I'll bring it back this way just a little bit. Can be prepositioned or you can have them to where you just lift your load, slide them right in and under. We'll just finish up by securing our load to our load stops. It's great for keeping our items from shifting left to right but certainly isn't going to be any help in the up and down, but as you can see now, couple straps on there, thing's nice and secure. It's not going anywhere. We'll take it out on the test course and let you see what it looks like in action. We're going to go through our slalom course which will give us a real good side to side movement first so you can see how that's going to act. We'll then make the corner and go right into our alternating speed bumps. It's going to give us a twisting and torquing action. Again, you'll see how this is going to perform when you're hitting maybe a pothole, speed bump, curb, something like that. Then we'll go into our solid speed bumps. This is going to show us the up and down movement just like going in and out of a parking garage, parking lot, or maybe a driveway. That will complete today's look at the Yakima LoadStop brackets for Yakima roof rack crossbars, part number Y05000. .

These brackets attach to round Yakima roof-rack crossbars and help secure a variety of items, including ladders and lumber. Brackets prevent lateral shifts in your cargo and handle thicker, taller loads with high vertical edges.Easy installation and adjustability to capture odd shaped cargo.
I bought the YO5000 Load Stop brackets to use as gunwale brackets for carrying a 17 foot canoe. They are less expensive and simpler in design than the Yakima "gunwale brackets" that are also available. They are a very flexible and well designed bracket that gets the gunwales up off the crossbars and stabilizes your boat once you have it tied down across the bars and fore and aft to the vehicle frame. They also are flexible enough to snap right over the crossbars for easy mounting. However, if you are using a Yakima fairing on your bars and you are carrying something that is less than around 32.5" wide, the brackets and fairing clamps will interfere with each other. You could probably trim the ends of the blocks a bit if you're close to 32" or remove the fairing when you're carrying a narrow load, or place the blocks in-between the fairing clamps and carry the load off-center. I'll be making one of these choices when carrying my boat, which is 32" wide where it needs to mount on the front bar. The Yakima "Gunwale Brackets" look like they may have a shorter base which might allow for a narrower mount when using a fairing.
I ordered a Yakima ladder rack over the phone with this company. I received a confirmation e-mail to tell me the item was ordered. They also gave me an e-mail to tell me that product had been shipped out then to my surprise I received another e-mail that wanted to verify the product was received. I never had to do any of there work and call back or anything. The order was perfect and my new ladder rack is working out great. 5 star service and I will use this site again.
I needed new foot pads for my Yakima towers and the new ones went on like a glove. I also do construction and I never knew about the item #Y05000 (Yakima LoadStop Brackets) for my roof rack crossbars, very impressive.
Nice product.
My 18.5 foot canoe was overhanging both ends of my SUV because the crossbars were only 3.5 feet apart. And, it was noisy at highways speeds. Also, not good for the boat.
This drydock works great, and the highway experience is much quieter. Seems sturdy and safe.
Used this product in the past and worked great for canoes.
