After choosing a mounting location for the fan and override switch, connect the black wire from the negative (-) fan motor terminal to your ground location. Connect the red wire from the fan to the back of the override switch, then connect the override switch to a 12-volt power source.

This refrigerator exhaust fan turns on and off automatically to help keep your RV's fridge, and your camping treats, cold. Install behind your fridge to cool the coils. Override switch lets you turn off the fan when your RV is in storage.Unit is relatively easy to install. Instructions are good. I felt the wall mount bracket provided made for easy installation but on the fragile side for longevity. I fabricated two u-shaped brackets to span the inside of the vent inside the very top, which made for a very solid mounting for the fan. See enclosed pictures. I wired the switch/fan direct to 12v so it can be used as needed. The fan noise is hardly noticeable in this location and moves a great deal of air. After installation and the refrigerator on for two hours the temperature at the top of the vent measured 106 degrees without the fan. Turning the fan on reduced that temperature to 89 degrees in less than ten minutes.
My opinion of the product is that it does exactly what is advertised and is not too difficult to install. I recommend it to everyone who has a RV refrigerator which has not vent fan.

Install was easy and came with everything I needed and more. Plenty of options for different options for install. Not sure of performance yet, but im sure fridge will efficiency will improve.

This fan has all the features I was looking for, easy install and allowed normal fridge cooling even in 100+ temps...But, it stopped working after 3 months of operation. Fortunately it has a one year warranty. Etrailer gets big kudos for a relatively painless warranty to replace. Thanks Lindsey! Hopefully the replacement lasts longer.

***the replacement worked for about another 3 months before dying. Having lost confidence in this product, I requested a refund, still within the warranty period. etrailer would not replace or refund. I then repeatedly emailed Valletta, and after a few months sent me a replacement, which lasted even less time. I ended up getting a different fan with a life expectancy of 50,000 hrs for $75.
This was a simple install and so far has produced good results. My refrigerator was not cooling efficiently and after some online research, I decided to purchase a fan for inside the back side of the fridge. There are many out there that mount in different places and, in fact, this one has the option and hardware to mount in 3 different places. I chose to mount it up top near the rooftop fridge vent. My reasoning was it would pull the air through the lower vent up over the coils and out the vent. Well, it works. It runs periodically as long as the switch is on. The thermostat seems to function properly as it doesn't run all the time, just on occasion. It is also NOT loud at all. I can hear it if I listen closely to the fridge, but it's not annoying or any bother. If during the summer, it seems to stay on all the time, I may install a second fan at the bottom inside the lower intake. This would be just to help pull more air in and relieve some of the workload on the top fan.
I was disapointed when I read the instructions. With a warning of fire hazard, I found that I had supply a 1 amp fuse and fuse holder. Why was this necessary part not included with the rest of the parts?
Seems to remove accumulated hot air as promised. However if the refrigerator wall is in the sun the heat buildup overpowers the fan’s lability to remove enough hot air to make much of a difference.
This fan increases flow of air over coils and moves the hot air from exterior fridge vent. Uses very little battery power so it is ideal for boondocking without electricity hookups. I noticed cooler fridge temperature when used.
I put this fan in and my RV Refrigerator works great now now on hot days. Helps to keep refrigerator cold even when it 90 degree +. Put fan at top of vent dropped wires down to bottom of frig and all wiring hooks were right there. The 1 AMP fuse link was hard to find, on & off switch was a little tricky. But everything works like a champ. Great product. Got a second one for my sons Rv.

i haven't installed this yet but i've used one before and i did like the results. i believe that this fan along with an internal frigdge fan enhanced the cooling ability. 110 degrees in the sun made me go this route and i'm doing it again with a recently purchased motor home.

The combo of internal fridge fan and external valterra fan make for an evenly cooled refridgerator. I would highly recommend it for any type of rv
I received the fan, shipping container was good, i installed it just under my roof vent now i will have to wait and go camping to see how it works.

The fan is shot, it keeps blowing fuses, it needs to be replaced. At the moment it is 111 degrees, my frig cannot keep up, I need a new fan.
Our travel trailer refrigerator was struggling to hold temperature this summer in Georgia. Would get to about 50 deg. I installed this fan and the refrigerator reached 38 deg. The next morning. Have to use a lower setting it's working so we'll. Definitely recommend this product. Well made and uses very little battery power. Very quiet when running.
The fan was easy to install . Everything you need comes with it . Took about 20 minutes, works fine and is quiet. Installed in a slide out camper , top vent helps by drawing out hot air to keep fridge cooler . I recommend this product to all RV OWNERS
The fan made a big difference in maintaining the refrigerator temperature during hot weather. The installation instructions were well write and easy to follow. I am happy with the product and have recommended it to my friends.
Improved replacement for the original that was over twenty years old!
These fans are a little large to the back of a refrigerator. I was able to get one in and hooked it up without a switch. It has a heat sensor and should come on automatically. I'll find out how well it works on our next trip.
Kit is very complete, and fairly simple to install (with moderate DIY skills). It moves a lot of air. A buddy had one, and made a huge difference in the summer temperatures, making the fridge a LOT more efficient. Looking forward to camping this summer to get the full effect.
