Tow Ready Accessories and Parts - 18144

  • Wiring
  • Mounting Brackets
  • Tow Ready
  • 4 Flat

Features:

  • Mounting bracket for 4-way flat connectors
  • Includes screws and nuts for installation
    • Self tapping screws are included to attach the bracket directly to the bottom of the bumper
  • Works with Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Reese, Tow Ready and Valley 4 pole flat trailer connectors
    • Will not work with Hopkins, Wesbar, TAP or Plug-N-Tow brand connectors

Note: For a no-drill option, use this part with the Short Bracket (#18140) or Long Bracket (#18136). Clamp the short or long bracket to the hitch and attach the trailer connector mount to the no-drill bracket. A few Draw-Tite and Hidden Hitch Class III, IV and V trailer hitches have the no-drill brackets already installed on them.

Video Transcript for Tow Ready 4-Pole Mounting Bracket Installation

Today we are going to be installing the universal 4-Flat connector part number 18144 in conjunction with our universal short bracket part 18140. With our wire already routed outside of the vehicle we'll go ahead and install the 4-flat mounting bracket on the universal mounting bracket. We'll use the supplied hardware to secure it. With our two screws tightened down, take the worm clamp and secure directly to the hitch. Now we've got that tightened down, I'll go ahead and take a pair of tin snips and cut off the excess from the clamp. With the clamp secure we'll go ahead and route the 4 pole through the 4-Flat mounting bracket and input the cap on the end of our 4 pole.

And there you have it with the installation of tow ready 4-flat connector part number 18144 along with our tow ready universal short bracket part number 18140.

This was pretty easy to install using the self-tapping screws, although I did add some locking washers to help make sure it was extra secure. And the trailer wire plug seems to fit well in the opening. 157914

Its been a year and the bracket is still functioning well. The only complaint would be with the interface for the wiring harness, it is a bit loose and needs some epoxy to hold it tight.

This product is EXACTLY what was needed. A draw-tite hitch had been installed, but the actual vehicle wiring plug was left hanging. 1. The bracket holes match with the Draw-tight plate. 2. Easy application; slide the 4-pole fitting through the slot. Check it is snug. 3. Put the bracket in place, apply the 2 screws and tighten. You're done, a neat professional application. 230654

The product is holding up well. The cap still seal tightly. Still a 5-star.

It provided a good universal adapator that you can mount almost on any flat surface and still reach it. I ended up not putting it on the hitch, so it wasn't shown and would accumulate more dirt, and ended up installing it just above the hitch on metal flange that needed just two holes drilled and it was completed. 139793

Bought this along with the hitch C13143, wiring harness 56083 and bracket 18144. While the hitch and wiring harness went on as described, and I have nothing but praise for the product and service (and YouTube videos), these two brackets were not made for my Lexus. The hitch is too far back and up for these to work as advertised. However, I figured out if I cut the cover a bit more, I could mount these right behind the side hole in the hitch, and they are accessible but also out of the way, and out of sight. Needed a bigger clamp, but lucky I had one in my workbench. Check out the picture for how it looks. Make sure your trailer wires are long enough to reach to it. Don't cover the hole for your locking mechanism! 419001

Over the past few weeks, I have purchased a Class III Hitch, Wire harness and 4-Pole Mounting Bracket from etrailer.com. I installed these on a 2015 Tiguan SEL. This project went very smoothly with no smashed fingers, no blood and no tears. Just total satisfaction with job well done. My little Tig is about to become a very happy Hauler. He will soon unite with his trusty Utility Trailer. Actually, it was a very rewarding project as it went sooooooo smoothly, I almost thought something was wrong. The prompt service and thorough follow up from etrailer.com is fantastic. I have done business with them before and will do so again. 188742

This item is insufficient for mounting the 4 pin connector. There is nothing that fastens the 4 pin connector to this bracket. This is a problem when connecting the trailer lights to the vehicle where this bracket is mounted. There is nothing to “hold” the 4 pin flat vehicle connector, so when you go to connect the trailer 4 pin connector to the vehicle connector, the adapter pushes straight out of this mounting plate. If there was a mechanism to hold the 4 pin wire harness in place while applying force from the trailer connector, then this would work great. Since there is not, the 4 pin connector pushes out of this plate and just dangles. I would have been better off buying nothing and just having the wire dangle. 156739

I purchased the Tekonsha 118605 T-One wiring harness but needed a mount for my 4-pole/pin connector. This product fit the bill. Though I opted not to use it as designed, I flattened it such that the opening would fit more appropriately with the existing opening in my trailer hitch (see photo). But other than that, the plug is mounted VERY snugly in place and I don't expect it to move during it's lifetime of use. 513480

Thanks for checking in. The trailer hitch was great and held up fantastic. Only got to use it about 4 times, but it worked perfectly. The wiring harness matched perfectly and was a breeze to install. The SUV I mounted it on didnt have enough towing capacity for my new boat, so I ended up trading it in for a newer one that had a factory hitch pre-wired setup. So the hitch receiver and wiring stayed with the SUV upon trade in. I held on to the ball mounts and the other bars and have used them a bunch for towing and launching and they are working great.

I installed the Draw-Tite 76128 Hitch, the 118741 wiring harness and the 18144 bracket to mount the wiring plug. You can route the plug through the hole that is provided for the factory hitch wiring (it will fit through, but it is tight) and use the bracket to clean up the install. It looks pretty sweet doing it this way. 400894

I am still very satisfied with the installation as well as the products. They were put to use about a month ago towing a trailer from Central Vermont to Southeast Ohio. That was about 800 miles and absolutely no trouble.

This bracket definitely holds the end piece on the wiring very securely. It was almost difficult to push the wiring into this piece, but that is actually reassuring, because I know the wiring will not back itself out of this bracket. Installation was easy. I only had to drill another hole because they were too far apart for my application. The bracket is small enough that I was able to put it in a spot on the hitch so that it will not be hit by anything that traditionally messes up after-market wiring. 29657

The curt hitch products I ordered were excellent and a very good value. Install easy but, with my vehicle the muffler had to be lowered and two holes in the frame enlarged to fit the bolts. The wiring harness was another brand and was easy to install. I routes the 4 wat flat connector to the purchased bracket and mounted directly into the rear frame The receiver Pin & lock seem to be good quality and the lock attaches quickly and easily Note - The packaging could have been much better. Other than the curt hitch which was in its own box some items were loose in the box. Two opened items and nothing was packed tight inside the box. Example- the keys and lock cover were missing from the pkg and I found them in the packing material. 404828

After reading other reviews and watching the simple how-to video on e-trailer this product (118449) was extremely easy to install and works as expected. I would recommend this to anyone looking to install their own harness on the 2012 Highlander. The only thing that I would like to see added is another thin plug/receptacle that can fit through a splice in the rubber grommets at the rear of the vehicle (so the 4-pole connector can be mounted permanently outside the vehicle). The existing 4 pin connectors on both ends are too large to feed through the vehicle body grommets. Instead I spliced the wires, ran them through the grommet, and re-soldered and heat shrank the wires for a solid connection. I intentionally spliced the wires closer to the plug internal to the vehicle to avoid problems with dust, grime, and corrosion. To mount the 4-pole connector outside the vehicle I paired this product with 18144 and 18140, at the suggestion of customer service at e-trailer. (Customer service was wonderful!) This worked splendidly. I'm very happy with the end result, and considering my total cost was about 1/3 to 1/2 the price of a factory installed version I don't think there's a better option. Incidentally, I have a Curt hitch which has round bars underneath. This posed no problems for the no-drill mount. It seems to secure tight enough to remove all play from the mounting bracket (18140). All in all I'm very happy with customer service and all three products I used for this project. 48965

Works well. Last time I installed a wiring harness I just zip-tied it to the hitch receiver. This time I decided to be a little more professional and used this bracket. Glad I did. It makes for a neater installation. 136754

Purchased with a Draw-Tite hitch that has the bracket welded to the cross member. No sweat to install onto hitch. Remember to mount the bracket to the hitch before installing hitch. Also, the vertical tab with the slot must face the rear of the truck to accept the plug from the wiring harness. 440975

I only gave this 4 stars because I've seen reviewers complain of having to order the second part separately. It does in fact show a chart on the back of this box what additional part number you need to order based on your application to make this a no drill option (it's an extension piece of metal that you screw this into then tie strap the joined pieces to whatever you wish). I could see how that would be annoying. I ordered this not intending to buy that extra piece so it worked just fine for my plan. I have a CURT hidden receiver on my truck, it has a 1/2" lip approximately 6" back from the receiver. I held the bracket up to it, marked two screw holes, drilled them out then put the black screws through attached the nuts and put my existing 4-pole connector through. It's metal on metal, secured and won't be held with a flimsy zip tie like the no-drill option. It ain't going nowhere and looks pretty good if I don't say so myself. 289302

Good product, easy to install with a little patience. For a cleaner look, I went with the "drill" option and used the self-tapping screws. My Curt hitch for the 2007 Santa Fe has a nice flat surface on the hitch bar, easy to seat the bracket. Use a 1/8" high-strength bit and take your time making the holes. The self-tapping screws are a bit flimsy, but do the job. Mounted the bracket to the right of the hitch b/c there was lots of slack in the wiring harness. Wrapped the wiring in corrugated shield and zip-tied to the hitch for a snug fit. No more dangling wires. 106826

Cheaper metal used. Should be a bit heavier and come with the NO Drill bracket. That way the buyer can decide up front which way to go. Without the No Drill bracket, this bracket will hang down and be visible where as the hitch isn't on my Santa Fe. $5 for this bracket is fine, but $15 for the other bracket is a bit much. 572222

Last February I installed my hitch and the optional light. Upon recently becoming aware this mounting plate was available, I ordered and installed. I chose to install the mount backward from what is intended to recess the wiring connector back into the hitch area as much as possible, to protect during the harsh winter months. This also helped eliminate a protruding connection when the hitch light is installed. Very simple to install, looks and functions great. 129446

Arrived quickly. As advertised. Fit the bracket on my DrawTite hitch for my 2017 Toyota Rav 4 with no drilling using included nuts and bolts. I haven't had it long enough for any rust to form on the mounting hardware (nuts and bolts), as noted by another reviewer. Simple 5 minute install. 336955

Yes, all of the aftermarket trailer hitches have receivers that sit just below the rear fascia on your 2016 Ford Explorer. For your application I recommend going with the etrailer.com Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98867 because it features a matte black finish that helps to hide any knicks you may get due to road debris when compared to the glossy finishes. All of the trailer hitches for your Explorer are rated as Class III. For wiring to activate the lights on your boat trailer I recommend...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver for 2003 Dodge Durango
For your 2003 Dodge Durango, the Reese 37069 is not a fit. You will instead want the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75081 which is made by the same company and is a confirmed fit for your vehicle. You may also want the Tow Ready J-Pin Stabilization Pin and Barrel Lockset for 2" Trailer Hitches # 63201 for a lock and anti-rattle designed for this hitch. If you need trailer wiring, I recommend the Tekonsha T-One # 118334 if you don't have the factory tow package or # 118381...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch and Wiring for 2013 Infiniti JX35
Both the Draw-Tite Class III Max Frame Round Tube Receiver Hitch # 76031 and the Curt Class III # C13126 referenced in your question are confirmed to fit your 2013 Infiniti JX35. Between the two models, I do recommend the Draw-Tite # 76031. The crosstube design on the Draw-Tite drops down as it extends to meet the receiver, which in turn exposes it a bit more under the rear bumper of your vehicle. This is simply going to provide more mounting space for which to mount a connector bracket...

  • Comparing the Draw-Tite # 75912 and Curt # C13193 Trailer Hitches for a 2017 Ford Transit T250
The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75912 and the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13193 are similar trailer hitches as they are both Class III with a 2 inch receiver opening (Draw-Tite is a manufacturer name). For your towing application I recommend going with the Curt option since it has a 900 lb Tongue Weight (TW) rating and a 6,000 lb Gross Trailer Weight (GTW) rating. This is higher than the 750 lb TW and 5,000 lb GTW rating on the Draw-Tite option. Even though you...

For your 2003 Ford E-350 with a step bumper, the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 75703 will fit well. I've attached a photo of a step bumper fit to assist. I've also attached a video install of a this hitch to assist with the installation which will be the same with the step bumper. If you do not yet have trailer wiring, I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118344 which will install to a harness...

  • How Does a Wiring Harness Attach to Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch 76021 on a 2017 Jeep Renegade
To utilize the wiring bracket on trailer hitch # 76021 for your 2017 Jeep Renegade you will need mounting bracket # 18144. The hardware is included to mount it. Then you can have the 4-Way mounted in the bracket. The trailer wiring harnesses for the 2017 Jeep Renegade, # 118651 and # C56274, both plug in line with the tail light wiring on the vehicle. They will install the same way as in the 2016 model in the video I have linked. They will work with the above mentioned mounting bracket. In...
