TorkLift GlowStep Revolution Spacer Kit

The Spacer Kits are of excellent quality, and as indicated in the Glow-Step literature, the use of 2 spacer kits allowed me to install the 25" wide Glow-Step frame securely in the 27" wide step mounting space of my 5th wheel trailer. So I rate the product 5 stars for that part. My overall 4-star rating is based on two factors:
1) The Glow-Step unit is labeled as 25.5" wide, but that includes the use of 2 spacers that come with the basic unit. The actual frame of the basic unit is 25" wide, so I needed a total of 8 of the 0.25" spacers to fit my 27" wide mounting space - 4 on each side. Since the basic unit included 2 spacers, I needed 6 more. They are sold in packages of 4 spacers, so I had to purchase 2 packages. This gave me 2 more spacers than I needed, which is a waste of good material and cost me more than it should have.
2) The instructions and mounting bolts supplied with the Spacer Kits only allow for a total of 3 of the 0.25" spacers to be mounted on each side of the 25" Glow-Step frame. That builds the frame out to fill a 26.5" mounting space. The Glow-Step literature clearly indicates that the 25" frame should be used for all mounting spaces less than 27.5" wide. I needed to add enough spacers to fill my 27" wide mounting space. This required that I ignore the 3-spacer limit mentioned in the Spacer Kit instructions and use 4 spacers on each side. I also needed to purchase 4 stainless steel mounting bolts that were 0.25" longer than those that were provided in the kits. I was fortunate enough to be able to acquire the stainless-steel bolts locally. If my mounting space had been 27.25' wide, I would have needed bolts that were 0.5" longer than those provided. The Spacer Kit instructions should have addressed this issue in detail, and bolts of the proper length should have been included.

I think the best solution to this problem is to have 2 kinds of Spacer Kits: 1) the current kit that fits the basic unit into spaces up to 26.5" wide; and 2) a separate "extra-wide" kit that includes the longer bolts needed to mount up to 5 spacers per side to fit the frame into mounting spaces up to 27.25" wide.3180059

Spacers, although expensive, worked well. Our application required (2) spacer kits to accommodate the 27 inch factory mounting bracket. Used (8) spacers total, (3) on the left side and (5) on the right side to center the stairs. The adhesive between the spacers really aided in the install by keeping everything aligned while inserting the bolts. Purchased longer bolts locally because of the extra spacers required to complete the installation.
Only complaint is that the spacer kits only come in sets of (4). The stairs included (2) spacers. I needed (8) total so had to order (2) kits. Now have (2) spacers left over.913906

It’s a little complicated to set up each time, so we tend not to use it for overnight stops. But when it’s set up alongside the scissor steps it makes a solid railing—wife with knee surgery loves it! (And the steps themselves are a lifesaver.)1641502

After a year, we have had absolutely no problems with our Glowsteps. The spacer kits were instrumental in mounting our Glowsteps on our particular RV.

In our case, these spacer kits were absolutely vital in spacing the brackets and properly mounting our new Torklift Glowsteps on our travel trailer. They are VERY thick and sturdy, and they should last forever! Our steps are very solidly mounted where the old suspended steps that came from the factory bolted on.851845

This is a great kit, really like the adhesive used to hold them in place but these need to be sold in different quantities so the consumer can select what is needed to fill different gaps. 542229

Working real good but I added a step, just was not enough for some boondocking sites

Worked perfectly. The added tape kept them in place during install of the steps to trailer. I suggest using two of the provided bolts to line the spacers up while sticking them on the step frame. 714692

This made the step work on our camper, but because I had to use 3 spacers on each side I had to purchase longer bolts.567746

Just the right product when you need it. The steps I mounted are 27.5 inches wide and the space is 28.25 wide. Used 3 of the spacers and it fit like a glove.851732

Its been a year now since I installed the Glow Steps. I have had many comments from other rV owners saying how cool these steps are. When I first purchased them I also got an extra set of spacers. Good thing as I did need the. Be careful though as once you place them they dont move.

After using the TorkLift steps for over a year, I can state that we are very happy with the quality and functionally of these steps. Plus, you dont have to stow them inside your living space!
