Today, we're going to be reviewing Part Number TLA7736. This is the TorkLift Extended Power Battery Mount for 36" to 60" SuperTruss Trailer Hitch Extensions. It's going to allow you to easily transport an extra battery by mounting it to your TorkLift extension. It installs pretty quickly and easily. You're going to get some detailed instructions. Those are going to walk you through, step by step, the entire installation process, but pretty simple concept. I have it pieced together today just so you can get an idea of how this would attach.
You're going to have this base here that clamps around the extension. It does not require any drilling. It's going to come with all the hardware needed for a complete installation. Now it's also going to feature this removable tray. They're going to include a lock, so you can lock the trey to the actual mount, as well as the set screw with the easy-to-use T-handle. That's just going to help reduce any vibration between the actual mount and where it attaches. I will show you how to detach that tray, since it is a removable feature and it's a key feature that TorkLift includes with this kit.
It's got the nice lock here. Simply remove that. It's got some all-weather grips on here, so it's going to be easy to operate and get a grip on, no matter what condition you're out in. We'll go ahead and remove the T-handle as well. Now that's going to allow the tray to come up and off of the adjustable portion here. Really neat feature because you can actually leave the mount mounted onto the extension.
Now you have full access to remove the tray whenever you don't want to have a battery mounted onto the extension itself. We'll go ahead and reinsert our lock and piece everything back together. The lock is going to use a pick-resistant 00:01:52 design so it's going to secure everything in place. The lock is actually going to come with two keys. That way, you always have a backup. It's got the nice, little dust cap here, too, that's going to protect the lock core from the elements. Go ahead and reinstall the set screw here.
Tighten that down. Now the mounts and the brackets are going to be made from a solid steel construction. They're going to have a nice, black, powder-coat finish on it, so it's going to stand up well against rust and corrosion. This piece up here is going to be the chain plate extension. This is going to relocate the side safety chains on your SuperTruss. It's going to come with that, as well as all the hardware needed for that installation. Now this is a great feature to have because it allows the battery to be mounted without interfering with your safety chains. It's going to include the battery box. This is made from a sturdy, polymer construction. It's going to also come with a battery hold-down strap, those battery hold-down mounts, and the hardware that's necessary to get those installed if you choose to use that. Now when it comes to the internal measurements, this is going to give us a length, and we're talking just the box here, this is going to give us a length of 11", it's going to give us a width of 6-7/8", and with the lid installed, you're going to have a total inside usable height space of 9-1/2". It's going to have a nice, snap-lock lid, easy-to-use handles on the side, as well as a couple of vents here on top of the lid. Now to get the battery box mounted to the plate, you can see down here that the mounting plate has four holes. Those are going to measure 1/4" in diameter. They're going to come with all the hardware that's necessary to get the box installed. On the bottom of the box, it does not have any pre-drilled holes. You can simply just use a 1/4" bit, line up the holes that you're going to drill on the box with the holes here on the mounting plate, and then use the included hardware to get everything secured. Again, detailed instructions are going to take you step by step through the entire installation process. This product is going to be made in the USA, and TorkLift is going to cover it with a lifetime warranty. That's going to do it for our review of Part Number TLA7736. This is the TorkLift Extended Power Battery Mount for 36" to 60" SuperTruss Trailer Hitch Extensions. .
I wanted to add 2 more batteries to my camper setup for a total of 4 as my main 2 are not accessible once camper is on truck.
I bought 2 of the TLA7735 and mounted them back to back on 1 of the hitch extension "U" brackets. Nice the height is adjustable to get the batteries away from the ground. I had just enough room to fit everything on my 48 inch Super Truss extension without having to purchase the TLA7736 that has a bracket to move the chains outboard. If you have a shorter extension you will need 1 TLA7735 and 1 TLA7736.
I have a small teardrop travel trailer. Because it is a new brand on the market the manufacturer when designing the A frame placed the battery holder too close to the curved wall of the RV so that the lid didn’t sit flush. I researched an alternative and came across this battery holder made by etrailer. It was designed for a hitch but with some minor adjustments I was able to secure it to the A frame of my trailer hence solving my dilemma.
