Video Transcript for Titan Brake Actuator T4835800183 Review

Today we're going to take a look at the Titan zinc-plated solenoid shield for the Titan model 60 trailer-brake actuators. This is a nice corrosion-resistant cover that'll bolt on to the rear of your Titan model 60 actuator, to protect the electric reverse lockout valve. The zinc plating will help resist corrosion. Just to show you where this will attach, I happened to pull a Titan model 60 actuator. You can see this one already has the solenoid valve attached to it. Basically you can see it ...

now this one I've added to it, it didn't come with the solenoid vale, but I just added it. You want to protect it so nobody steps on it or breaks it. All you have to do is remove the 2 screws right here, and then remove this cover that comes on the actuator. Then this solenoid shield, basically what you will do is you will need to remove the 2 screws up on the top here. Just bolt those 2 on there, then you just bend it down till those 2 screws line up. Once you have that, that'll give you protection of the solenoid valve so it doesn't get damaged.

It's well worth adding this onto if you have a solenoid valve at the back of your actuator. That should do it for the review on the Titan zinc-plated solenoid shield for the Titan model 60 brake actuators.

Exactly what I needed. I changed my brakes from drum to disk with a Dexter kit from ETrailer. I also had to buy a reverse lockout solenoid so the brakes would not try to lock up when I back up. This part allowed me to cover the solenoid and basically converted my actuator to disk brake actuator once I changed the master cylinder. It was much cheaper to convert mine then by a complete new unit.

by:

This is a must for adding the lockout valve as it protects the valve. It fit perfectly. You do need to make the bend at the top
But a 4 in vice made it easy.

by:

The part is a bit shorter then I expected. So, I have add and do some modifications with the old shield

by:

No issues with etrailer!!! This cover needs to be longer to cover the potential of a longer tube having to be installed to the existing trrailer brake line.

Comments
Had to add another plate to protect the oil line from being hit/bent when getting on and off the boat. Part of the reason is that the new brake master cylinder was longer and I had to add a new line that required a large bend radius to get it to fit with the current brake line from the trailer.

With much advice from etrailer, I completely rebuilt my boat trailer brake system. I mean completely, starting with a Titan actuator, then new brake lines, and finally , new disc brakes on the rear axle. etrailer is the best. If you have a question, call them!!! They will find the right answer .

by:

The Solenoid Shield was a perfect fit for my Titan 60 hitch conversion. This combined with the solenoid actuator and 6' cable with 7 way connector resulted in a clean upgrade to my trailer brake system. No more issues with brake lockup backing up an incline.
Shipping was quick. As always very happy with my order

by:

This is the third time I have used etrailer for parts. They have delivered on time(or earlier) every order. They're reps have also been excellent in helping with tech questions. The parts have worked exactly as advertised. I will not hesitate to use them again when the need arises.

by:

Very satisfied with the speedy delivery and customer service over the phone with everything that I have been ordering from e-trailer. Thanks for everything

This product was not specifically designed for my coupler but I made it work. I wasn't sure what series I had so I ordered wrong cover shield.

by:

It looks good but it is too small for my trailer so I will have to make some adaptation to the trailer

by:

All three products meet my expectations and the service I received when ordering them and having them shipped was excellent. Keep up the good work.

by:

The products I ordered were of the quality expected. Quick turnaround on my order.

by:

  • Orientation of Roller Assemblies when Reassembling Titan Model 60 Brake Actuator
When assembling the roller assembly, the rollers should be installed so that the beveled edges face the outside of the tongue, away from the shock absorber. I have confirmed this with my contact in the Technical Services department at Titan.

  • Can a Reverse Lockout Solenoid Be Added to an Actuator That Does Not Have a Lockout Solenoid
Yes, you can add a solenoid valve to your brake actuator on your trailer to prevent the brakes from locking up when in reverse as long as you have the standard 3/16 inch brake lines on your trailer. This valve will attach between the master cylinder and your brake line and it will wire into the reverse light circuit on your trailer. Once your vehicle is put in reverse the solenoid valve closes and prevents pressure from reaching the brakes. Make sure that when you are backing up that...

  • Can the Electric Reverse Lockout Solenoid be Used on a Titan Model 60 Trailer Brake Actuator
It sounds like your model 60 actuator is for drum brakes and it has the check valve inside the master cylinder. You can use the electric reverse lock out solenoid # T4748800 with the model 60. It will attach directly to the master cylinder and the brake line will attach to the other end. When the vehicle is in reverse, it will not allow fluid to go back to the brakes. The electrical connection needs to be made to the vehicle reverse light circuit. You will also want to protect the solenoid...

  • Is a Reverse Electric Lockout Needed on a Boat Trailer with Titan Model 60 Actuator
The issue is that with the way a surge coupler works when backing up, normally up hill, the trailer is pushing the other way which will cause the actuator to compress in sending fluid back to engage the brakes. This makes it very difficult or impossible sometimes to back the trailer up. There are 2 kinds of lock outs to prevent this, a manual which is built into an actuator and prevents the coupler from pushing in, and there is the electric type. It will energize when the vehicle is placed...

  • How To Stop Brakes On Trailer From Locking When In Reverse Using Titan Model 10 Brake Actuator
What you will need to do is install the Replacement Solenoid Valve, part # T4748800. The Titan Replacement Solenoid Valve # T4748800 will stop the brakes from activating when you are in reverse. • Can Replacement Solenoid Valve, # T4748800 be Used on a Titan Model 60 Trailer Brake Actuator
Yes, the Replacement Solenoid Valve, # T4748800, will fit the Model 60 Titan Actuator. We have learned that in order to attach this solenoid to the master cylinder, the fitting that is currently on the master cylinder will need to be removed and the solenoid threaded directly on in its place. You will also probably want to keep the solenoid covered. Actuators that come with the electric lock out already have a cover in place. But, you can add it on with part # T4835800183.

  • Disc Brake Master Cylinder for a Titan Model 10 Actuator

  • Troubleshooting Surge Brakes Locking up When in Reverse
With surge brakes, you have a brake actuator applying the needed pressure to the brakes but to be able to back up you will need to have a manual lockout or an electric lockout solenoid, like # T4748800, which will close when you shift the vehicle into reverse, allowing the trailer to be backed up. You may also need a solenoid cover like the Titan # T4835800183, depending on what brake actuator you currently have. Typically surge brakes are found on boat trailers, and commonly the trailer...

The Titan Solenoid Valve with Reverse Lockout, # T4748800 is designed to work with the Model 60 and 3/16 inch diameter brake lines. Yes, you can add the Replacement Solenoid Valve # T4748800 to the Titan Adjustable-Channel Brake Actuator # T1891100. This will make it so that when you put your vehicle in reverse your trailer will not lock the brakes on you as long as you are using 3/16 inch brake lines. You will also want to make sure that you protect the solenoid. You can use part # T4835800183 to do so.

  • Does Drum Brake Master Cylinder Need to be Replaced with Atwood Master Cylinder for Disc Brakes
I spoke with the Titan, who confirmed that the master cylinder # T4820000 is indeed the correct replacement when switching from drum to disc brakes. Because hydraulic disc brakes operate at a higher pressure (1,500 psi) than drum brakes (1,000 psi), the master cylinder used for your current drum brakes won't deliver the required pressure to effectively actuate disc brakes. If your current Titan Model 60 doesn't have the electric lock-out feature that defeats the brakes when the vehicle's...

  • Titan Model 60 Drum Brake Actuator with Electric Lockout
The Titan model 60 drum brake actuator # T43397007K does not feature an electric lockout but does have the multi-fit type ball coupler rather than a lever lock style. You can simply add an electric lockout to the existing coupler. This will save you time and money. My contact at Titan confirmed this is a good way to go. The Titan Leverlock Brake Actuator, # T43397007K, that you referenced does not include a lockout system for backing your trailer, but an electric lockout solenoid, # T4748800 will fit and work well to give you a lock out. With just these two parts you'd be set. I also recommend using a shield # T4835800183 to both protect and give the finished look.

The coupler is compatible with 3 inch wide trailer tongues, and can be used on 1-7/8, 2 inch or 50mm trailer balls. I've linked to some product description video that you might find helpful.

You're correct, an adapter like the # 30717 would work fine for you, although I'd personally go with the # 37185 as it has a 4-pole connector as well. Initially, you'd just plug the adapter into your 4-pole, ground the white wire to the truck frame and you'll be good to go.
