Just what I needed to upgrade my Thule T2 Classic bike rack to support my 4" fat tire ebike. I did have trouble with the rear tire strap, though. It's too short as shipped - only 12.5" instead of 18" as described. I called eTrailer support who was going to send me a new 18" strap. I decided to remove the rear tire support and disassemble it to see what's going on. Turns out the strap can be installed in two positions (the instructions don't mention this) and Thule installs it in the shorter position for some reason. Here's how to change it: 1. Remove the rear tire holder from the rack. 2. Remove the four Phillips head screws. 3. Pry the two halves apart just enough to remove the strap from the bottom of the holder and install it on the side of the holder. Be careful not to pull the two halves completely apart to ease reassembly. 4. Secure the four Phillips head screws. This will make the useable length of the strap 16" instead of 12.5".

Easy to install, took less than ten minutes from the time I picked the box up, until I had my bike loaded. My tires fit great, and loading takes so little time. I do miss the lever type latch from the original setup, which allowed to grip a bit tighter, but running 10psi allows me to get these cinched down very securely! Overall, it works great, gave new life to my 12 year old rack!

I bought it for the wheel holding end, not the fat tire feature. Both of the mechanisms on an older, better, style holder failed, and this was the only style available. The older version was an easy, one-handed version. Only with gyrations can I open this style with one hand. But usually I have to free both hands to open the strap. However it does what it needs to do.

I travel with other people to ride trails near and far. We all ride different bikes and I have several friends who ride fat bikes so adding the option to haul a fat bike on my Thule 917XTR-T2 was a no brainer. The tray takes up to 5" wide tires and still has the ability to carry a mountain bike and even road bikes with the slender groove in the tray. The installation was very easy and took just minutes. A great product that makes my Thule rack even more versatile.

I have a Thule 917XTR, and needed the fat tire adapter kit. Took about 15 minutes to install. The front wheel "cup" is nice and wide, easily accommodates 4 inch Dillinger tire. I had to adjust the length of the rear strap (loosen the four screws and slide the strap up to the next position) to accommodate rim/tire size. I actually think the fat tire rear strap assembly is a better design than what was originally on the rack. Good Job Thule.

Quick and easy to replace the older, narrow trays. My 4" tires fit with room to spare so the 4.8" tires should fit as well. Had to replace my older ratchet arm with the newer, longer arm in order to load my fat bike. Received order very quickly.

It's to bad I couldn't find just the rear tire cradle. I had to purchase a fat tire kit. The front tire cradle is for a fat tire. Wasted money.

- TH919

Fast shipping. Had the product when everyone else was out of stock.

These fat tire adapter's work as advertised. Great addition!

Product ended up being backordered for an extended period but the communication throughout was excellent. Received regular status updates. When the product was finally available the price had increased but the original price was honored.

Fantastic adapter for fat bikes that also will hold every other type of bike you have.

  • Solution For Thule T2 Bike Rack When Arm Doesnt Want to Fit Over Tire After Fat Tire Adapter
I spoke to my contact at Thule and she informed me that the problem you described would indicate that you have the older style T2 bike rack (older than 2012) which was not designed for use with the fat tire adapter part # TH919, but can easily be made to work with the correct replacement part. All you need is the Replacement Locking Ratchet Arm part # 752-1272-001. This will replace what you currently have on your rack and will allow the arms of your rack to fit over the fat tires of...

  • How to Use Fat Bike Adapter on the Thule T2 Classic 2
The wheel strap for the rear wheel included in the Fat Tire Adapter Kit part # TH919 should be plenty long for most fat tire bikes. It could be that you are not using the strap correctly as this would in turn cause it to appear too short. You will need to completely remove the strap from the rear wheel retention device. It will slide out just below the ratcheting buckle. Once removed, you simply need to slide it back in on the opposite side of the rear wheel retention dive where there is...

  • Fat Tire Adapter for a Thule 2 Bike Platform Rack
The only Thule rack that has a fat tray upgrade is the Thule T2, and is available as part # TH919. This is compatible with models that have been discontinued. Beyond this, the Thule racks normally are compatible with up to 4 inch wide wheels.

  • Fat Tire E-Bike Rack Solution For Bike that Weighs 64 lb
The Thule T2 Classic Fat Tire Adapter part # TH919 has the same weight capacity as the bike rack # TH9045 that it fits which is 60 lbs. So if could remove about 4 lb from the bike you'd be okay to use it. Or you'd have to go with an e-bike rack that has the weight capacity you'd need as well as is compatible with fat bikes like with the Hollywood Racks RV Rider # HLY64FR.

  • Upgrading Old T2 Ratchet Arms and Wheel Trays to Be Compatible with 26 Inch Wheels with Fat Tires
The Thule T2 is the older style and the T2 Classic # TH9044 and T2 Pro XTR # TH83JV is the newer style. The newer T2 Classic can accept tires up to 5 inches wide but it does require changing the strap location. I've attached a photo to assist. The older T2 requires the Fat Tire Adapter Kit for Thule T2 Platform-Style Bike Rack # TH919 which will work in the same way as the photo attached to accommodate your 4.8 inch wide tires. • Replacement Thule Wheel Trays for Fat Bike Compatibility
For your Thule platform bike rack, the wheel holders/trays you need will depend on your bike rack. It sounds based on your description that you have the original T2 or the T2 Classic which are stock compatible with tires up to 3 inches wide. If you have the T2 Classic like # TH9044, you will use the Fat Tire Adapter Kit for Thule T2 Platform-Style Bike Rack # TH919. If you have a different Thule bike rack, let me know the model and I'd be happy to assist.

  • Replacement Front Wheel Cradle for Thule T2
There are not typically straps on the front cradle of the Thule T2, so the # 853-5958 will not have attachment points for any straps.
