  There are multiple versions of the Thule T2 platform style hitch bike racks. If you have the Thule T2 Pro X # TH83GC then this cannot be installed onto another # TH83GC. In this rack you need to use the special lightweight expansion piece # TH55GC which is much lighter than the actual weight of rack so it is too heavy for use as an extension.
