Video Transcript for Checking Out theThule Kayak Carriers Replacement Slide Plate

Hi everyone, I'm Evangeline here at etrailer. Today we are talking about a bunch of different Thule Hullavator replacement parts, and this one specifically is gonna be the replacement slide plate. This plate will be at the top part of your Thule Hullavator or Hullavator Pro. This is gonna be one of the components that allow adjustments of that top cradle up and down to secure kayaks of different widths. So if you find that your slide plate is broken, damaged, or lost, this is gonna be the exact replacement part. Chances are though, that you may also need to get replacements for other components in the system.

So let's take a closer look at it to see what you may need. This is what the Thule Hullavator Pro looks like without its top cradle. What actually tends to happen is that sometimes the instructions can be a little confusing and you may mix up the square nuts for the bottom cradle with the slide plate for the top cradle, which then sometimes causes some issues. So what we're gonna do is we're going to install our replacement slide plate, and this is done by removing the top cradle assembly. And then we're gonna put everything back into place.

If you're going to be doing this replacement process, please do this with the Hullavator off of your vehicle and on a cart or a table. I am only doing it in this way or setup just to give full context to where everything is. Now we're gonna take a look at the slide plate and we're gonna take a look at these holes. Notice that these two holes are closer together and the one is further away, so you want the further one facing up. So as you bring your assembly down, now the instructions say this is when you would attach your cradle.

I personally though, what I like to do is just to put the knob in a place and that will hold that sliding plate tight so that I can then attach our cradle. This is gonna be your top cradle assembly fully put together, we have two bolts and split washers, and those are what are securing and threading onto that sliding plate. And that's gonna be your whole system up here.
