I bought my bike rack ( for 4 bikes) about 10 years ago and it the time just had 1bike and over the years I lost the rest of the parts for more bikes. I found your site and was able to add the parts I needed to add a second bike. Great site with everything I needed! 911631

I have an older model that was missing some parts so I was not able to carry more than one bike securely. These came in a timely fashion and worked great. I added these missing parts and carried two bikes into the mountains for a week long assisted bike trip. Bikes were carried securely as originally intended, even over rough forest service roads, without sway or mishap. I would go thru etrailer again if I needed parts. 848840

This is a replacement part for a hitch-mounted steel rack carrying 4 bikes. As part of the whole rack, these stabilizers hold the bikes securely from swinging back and forth. My major problem with these and other plastic and rubber parts of the rack system is that they eventually break at the attachment points. I've had to replace most of the removable parts and straps on the rack over the 5 or so years I've had it. Fortunately, all parts are readily available here at etrailer at a reasonable cost. Overall, it's worth the bother. The rack is easy to load and keeps my bikes safe. 821366

Got them on over 1" diameter bars on a 20-year-old Yakima bike rack. Rub the bars first with [dish washing soap] or similar product = enough lubrication to make getting them on easier, but then dries so the cradles stay where you want them. Remember to buy the straps if you don't already have them - cradles don't work/secure your bike without them, but don't come with them. The cradle is bigger than I expected, making it hard to position my wife's bike over it (not much space between the elements of the frame). The extensions at the bottom are to hold the sway stabilizers (another extra purchase + more straps if you need them). May carve off the bottom extensions of one cradle to ease that. When the bikes are tightly strapped down, I don't think I'll need the sway stabilizers. Great service. Great prices. Prompt shipping. Solution I couldn't find anywhere else. 682851

  • Tips for Removing Cap of Thule Parkway Bike Rack to Replace Cradles
To get the cap off of the Thule Parkway Bike Rack part # TH956 you will need to remove the one screw you have found. Small screws that are torqued down can be a pain, but there are some tips I can share that should help. First thing you want to do is spray the screw with some penetrating lube like WD40. Next thing you want do is find the screwdriver with the thickest handle you can find that the head of it still fits the screw in the cap. The basic idea is that the thicker the handle...

  • How to Install the Anti-Sway Cages of the Thule Stay-Put Cradles for a Thule Bike Rack
If you look at the bottom of the frame cradle (see pic I attached) you will see what looks like a rectangular rod connected three times to the bottom of cradle. You will need to take the Replacement Anti-Sway Cage # 853-7758 and slide the open end of the top of it onto that rod and the straighten it out to lock it into place. This is an anti-sway device for your bike that will attach with a strap like part # 853-5834 to the frame of your bike to secure it so that it will not move.

  • Replacement Cradle and Straps for a Thule Parkway Trailer Hitch Mount Bike Rack

  • Anti-Sway Cage Option for a 10 Year Old Thule Trunk Mount Bike Rack
I spoke with my contact at Thule and he informed me that they did not make anti-sway cradles for their older bike racks. The best solution for you would be to completely replace the cradles on your bike rack with newer cradles that accept anti-sway cages. Since your bike rack already has cradles, you can replace them with the Thule Stay-Put Cradle, # 853-7887. You could then add the Stay-Put Anti-Sway Cage, # 853-7758, and straps, # 852-3006-001. Each of these items are sold individually,...

  • Replacement Anti-Sway Cage for Thule Bike Racks with Stay-Put Cradles Item # 853-7758
For the replacement anti-sway cradles, part # 853-7758, your best pick is to use the Thule 4-Pack straps, part # TH534. They are shaped correctly for the Thule Anti-Sway cradles and will work the best over time. If you're needing to pick up individual straps, they are part # 852-3006-001.

  • Will the Anti-Swag Cages of the Thule Raceway Bike Rack Scratch the Bike Frame
Due to the shape of the Thule No Sway Cage part # 853-7758 and the fact that it's made of a softer material than the finish of bike frames it does not typically scratch the finish of bike frames. That we are aware of none of our customers have had issues with scratching. However, if the cages or your bike frame had dirt or debris on them scratching could occur. I would recommend you keep the surfaces of both as clean as possible.

  • Removing No Sway Cage part # 853-7758 From Frame Cradles
To remove the Replacement Anti-Sway Cage # 853-7758 you basically just need to reverse the installation process. You will need to fold the cage 90 degrees in relation to the cradle so that it is in the same position it was in when you installed it. Once the slot of the cradle is lined up with the open portion of the attachment point for the cage you will need to pull it off of the cradle. It might take some effort, but it will come off. • Can OIder Thule Bike Rack Be Upgraded to Prevent Bikes From Hitting Each Other
Since the arms of your Thule bike rack are 1 inch in diameter you can upgrade them a new style of frame cradle that has anti-sway cages which will limit the movement of the bikes on the rack. For that you'd want the cradle part # 853-7887 for the cradle, part # 853-7758 for the cages, and part # 852-3006-001 for the straps. The same straps are used on the cage as the cradle. So for each bike you'd need two cradles, one cage, and three straps.
