Hi everyone. It's Evangeline here at etrailer. And today, we'll be taking a look at our Thule replacement hooks for your Thule roof-mounted carriers here at etrailer. So, this hook is usually included with your Thule water sport carriers that are mounted to your roof because they are part of the bow and stern tie-down kit. That bow and stern rope is attached to the bow and stern of your kayak, or your paddleboard or your boat. And then you need this hook to attach it to an anchor point in your vehicle.

Now, over time, what may happen is you may break, lose or damage this hook, and that's where this replacement part comes in. It is a direct replacement, so it will be exact same as the one that was previously lost or damaged. So, this is designed to use with the bow and stern rope that is included in Thule's kits. I cannot verify if this will work with other straps or other ropes but we'll take some measurements. So, what's holding that rope in is going to be this closed loop.

So, you have to make sure that your rope that you're using is small enough to fit through that loop. Now, as for the opening on the hook, this will determine what kind of things you can hook it into. We have an opening that is one inch wide. So, we have our replacement hook and then we have our bow and stern rope. So, what we're gonna do is we're just gonna fit that bow and stern rope into our loop on our hook and then tie it.

So, people have different ways of knotting this down. I just really think whatever works to secure it is what I will use. So, we'll just tie that and that's nice and secure. And now, we'll find a spot on our vehicle to hook this into. While some people use the brackets on their hitches, sometimes if you don't have a hitch, you're gonna have to find a spot in your hatch or in your trunk.

So, this is a pretty good anchor spot. We'll just put that hook right over there and then feed that rope out. Once you're sure that it's anchored properly, we'll just leave this out here and then close our hatch. So, all in all, this is a nice direct placement. It is good to know that if you do lose the hook that was on your previous water sport carrier, you can find an easy replacement. Now, also make sure that you have the tie-down straps or rope as well. If you don't have them, you can find them here at etrailer. I personally prefer the dog bone style that can be found in our etrailer tie-down strap kit. So, if you want to upgrade, that might be an option for you. But if you just want to replace, this is the one for you.
