Video Transcript for Tekonsha Brake Controller 7686 Review

Today, we're going to review Part Number 7686. This is the Tekonsha Mounting Pocket for the Tekonsha Prodigy and Prodigy P2 Proportional Brake Controllers. This part includes everything showing here, the plastic pocket and includes some mounting hardware and some butt connectors. This extra mount will allow you to install your brake controller in a spare vehicle, or replace the lost or broken bracket. This pocket is what comes with the Prodigy and Prodigy P2 Brake Controllers. This pocket mount styles makes your brake controller more portable. There's no need to buy multiple brake controllers for different vehicles.

You can just put different mounting brackets in each vehicle and just remove your brake controller, take it and plug it into another vehicle. Basically, the brake controller will snap into place when you slide it in and it slides out very easily. This will conveniently mount under your dash with these included self tapping screws. Again, I mention it includes the butt connectors for connecting your wiring installation. Again, this is compatible with the Tekonsha Prodigy, and Prodigy P2 Brake Controllers. We do sell both of those separately on our website. Just to give you an idea, here is a Prodigy P2 Brake Controller.

You see the mounting connector in the back. If you notice on the side, there is a hole right here and a hole right here. Basically, what happens with this mounted under your dash, you can just slide this in, and when you get it in far enough, those pins right here on each side will pop into those holes and hold it right into place. To remove it, just pull out and it slides right out. You just have to pull one of these out and that will be able to push it in, just like that.

Just pull out on one of these and it pops right out. That should do it for the review on Part Number 7686, the Tekonsha Mounting Pocket for the Tekonsha Prodigy and Prodigy P2 Proportional Brake Controllers. .

I really like the slide in option for the P2 controller I bought for my truck. Having this option allowed us to set up my wife's Grand Cherokee for the few times we use it to haul the trailer. Just wish it was designed so the connection was made when sliding the controller in instead of having the pull the cable through which looks sloppy when the controller isn't in the Jeep. 572647

  • Additional Parts to Move Prodigy P2 Electric Brake Controller Among 3 Tow Vehicles
To use your Prodigy P2 brake controller, part # 90885 in all three vehicles you need two more mounting pockets, part # 7686, two more brackts, part # P7685, and two more wiring harnesses, part # 20127. You may also like the pouch, part # 5897, to store the P2 in when you're not using it at all. If either vehicle needs trailer wiring as well let me know what they currently have and I'll recommend the parts you need. If any of them already have a 4-way connector it can be converted to...

The Prodigy P2, part # 90885, and P3 part # 90195, have brackets that are completely different styles so they are not interchangeable. The P2 uses just U shaped bracket, part # P7685, that connects to the controllers pocket, part # 7686. The P3 also has a U shaped bracket, part # TK5904, but instead connects to a cradle, part # TK5906.
