What's up, everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna be checking out this replacement Short Hook for your Swagman Bike Rack. This is if something was to break on the hook and you need to replace it here on the center mass, you can do so without having to get a whole new bike rack. Let's check it out. First thing I wanna point out is it doesn't come with a locking base, that's sold separately, or you can buy it all as one combo if both of them are broke. But if you just broke the hook, it's gonna be easy to replace that.
You just remove the old existing one, keep the hardware that you had and push this down into the base. You can line up the holes here. Then we'll run our bolts through the front portion and we'll put the nut on the back because it's got the same shape, so it's gonna match it when you go put that in there. So put the bolt first to keep it from turning on me. Pushing the bolt through the front, we'll flip it around.
This is the side where you add the nut. So put it back into place. Put one thumb there to hold it in place and as we use our tool to tighten it down. This is nice that there's a groove for that because it doesn't spin as you tighten down the bolt. And do the same thing for the other one.
And with those two screws installed, you're done. You just go and put it back on the center mass, and now you're ready to load up your bikes. Overall, it really is that easy to replace this hook. I really like that I can just replace one part and not have to get a whole new bike crack. It's gonna be less expensive that way and easier on me to just replace this, load my bikes, and get back out on the trails.

I bought this hook for my Swagman Current (for use with Ebikes). Because both of our bikes are step-thru, I replaced the long hook with this short hook. It came at a good price, has been in service for about six months now, and works perfectly. Working with etrailer.com has been a pleasure.

Works just fine after having one short hook bent at an angle to accommodate female style bike.frame and purchasing a second short hook for male style frame. Frame is sturdy, easy to use.
