Today we're going to be taking a look at the rebuild process for the Stromberg Carlson landing gear. This is going to work out for the LG1 and LG2 style systems, just the standard duty. Now, we have two different replacement motors available. This is the high-speed, part number LG-141893. That's going to give you a 20% speed improvement as compared to the standard speed, which is part number LG-142178. Now, if they become bent or damaged, we've got the replacement foot plates. It's going to have your pin and clip.
The part number is LG-119225. The replacement aluminum gear box part number is LG-179015. We also have the upgraded spring-style pin. It's going to make it a lot more similar to a drop-leg style of jack. That part number is LG-119113. Now, for the foot plate replacement, of course, that's going to be very, very straight-forward.
Just going to pull the clip if yours still has it and pull out the pin. That's going to come off. You'll see the indentation right here designed for a pin to slide through. Bring our new foot plate, put it in place. Slide our pin through and re-secure it with the clip. Now on the standard configuration, your landing gear is going to have a pin and clasp here that will pull.
We adjust this to the typical height, slide that back in, and latch it. That doesn't take too much work, and it's not a terrible job to do, but these do sometimes get lost and misplaced, so what they've come up with is a quick-release pin style. It'll make it more like a drop-leg. Let's take a look at that on the other side. Now, to install the quick-release pin, just remove the nut on each carriage bolt.
You see that's going to allow it to separate. We'll pull out the original pin, replace it with the quick-release. Now, you could put in either side that you want. Typically, you'll want it on the side you'll be operating it from. Or, if you don't have the head room or the clearance, you can operate it so it's easy to get to from the outside of the camper. It's going to slide right through the other hole that was there. See our pin coming out right there Return this portion of the bracket. Then we'll use our 10 mm socket and get those tightened down. As you do, it's going to draw the two sides of the clamp around the leg and it gets a really nice hold. At that point, that's all there is to it. You see now we're going to have that quick-release option, which will allow us to drop the leg to the ground, raise it to the first click, and then operate our equipment. As far as the motor and gear box replacement goes, this is also something that's really quite simple to do. Hand tools are really all that's required. We need to separate the cross shaft from the gear box for the gear box replacement. For the motor replacement, you just want to remove the two screws that have the flathead slot in them. There's one there and one caddy-corner to it. They're always on opposing sides here. Now, your motor should be wired up if it's been working. Once that's up, you see the motor just slides off. Of course, you'll have to disconnect your wiring at this point. We can place our new motor on, whether it's the standard-duty here or the high-speed in which we told you about. We can install that one for you. Now again, this just basically saves you time. This is going to give you a 20% increase in your speed just by increasing the RPM the motor is going to turn. It goes from 5,500 up to 7,140. It uses the same size hardware, the same mounting locations. At that point, you'll just butt connect your wiring back with your wiring harness. You can use part number DW05745. It's a heat shrink connector. It'll give you superior moisture resistance. Now, to replace your gear box, you'll want to separate the motor. Then with the 7/16 wrench and socket, we're going to remove the bolt that ties our lead leg to the follow leg. Once that's off, we're just going to separate the two legs. We're also going to pull off the spacer bushing that's there. Your gear box is going to slide right off. It's a direct replacement. It's going to be an exact fit for you. You just take your new gear box, slide it back in, and you want to ensure that the leg sits between these two tabs. You see how that's going to fit right in there Then our bushing will go back on, and we can put our crossbar back on. It's just a matter of replacing your nut and bolt and putting your motor back on, and we'll be ready to use our landing gear again. All right, ready for use. That's going to complete our look at the rebuild process for the Stromberg Carlson landing gear set. We hope we've showed you that with a few simple parts you can rebuild your landing gear rather than having to replace it.

Spring-loaded mechanism makes for easy, single-handed release.I like these spring loaded pull-pins. They are simple to install and work great. If the legs on your trailer don't move freely they can be a problem. You need to be able to hold the pin out while moving the leg up or down. Overall, they are a great product, that make the job of setting up and tearing down a little easier. I am all for anything that makes this job easier.
Just installed fit great
Good service / fast shipping from eTrailer In my opinion the product is poor. The pin barely protrudes through the outside tube of the landing gear.. I had to turn the opposing bracket so the flat side faced the outside tube so the pin would penetrate somewhat into the bracket. My old pull pin was a LG 119113.
Perfect fit...your detail on your website on how to measure the landing gear was spot on!!! I am VERY SATISFIED with your company!!! I tell all my RV friends about you guys! Thank you!!!!
