Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the Shocker Air Equalizer with the two and a half inch shank for your weight distribution. Has a 12,000 pound weight capacity. Now this is a shock absorbing air equalizer which will add instant air ride to your existing weight distribution system. Basically right here is where you can bolt your existing weight distribution head to this air equalizer. Now this kit here will include everything shown here on the table.
It'll have the XR channel mount base frame, which is this back section here, the air equalizer, which is the front portion, and then if you notice, they're both held together by these two D-ring hitch pins with the clips. Now this is designed to install into a two and a half inch by two and a half inch trailer hitch receiver opening. And you secure it into your hitch receiver with your hitch pin and clip. Now the hitch pin clip is not included. Does require a 5/8 inch diameter hitch pin and clip and we do sell that size separately.
If you already have that size, you can use that. But you can see it offers two different hitch pin holes to fit your application. Now up front here, this is an air equalizer. It uses this built-in airbag at the top here, the bumper cushions, two here, two on the other side. And it helps absorb any road shock when you're towing with the weight distribution hitch.
And the way you put air in this right here you can see is the air valve. You just take off your cap, hook your air hose to that, and you can pump this with the air without air. Basically what happens is when your trailer jolts forward or pulls backward the airbag and then these four bump stops will dampen that road shock for a lot smoother ride. And what's nice right down here, the pivot bolt that the air equalizer pivots on, has a grease CRC fitting on it, which makes it easy to maintain. Just insert your grease gun on that CRC fitting, pump grease in there, and it'll lubricate it.
Now how do you set the air in the airbag It's pretty simple. Now it comes with a set of instructions but it is pretty simple. After you hook up your weight distribution head and then your weight distribution bars, you'll air this hitch until the truck side bump cushions, which are these right here on this side, these will not compress. So in other words, if they're compressed that means there's too much air in the bag. You'll want 'em just to be able when they start to compress you don't want them compressed. That'll give you a good sign of how much air to put in here. This is a solid heavy duty adjustable ball mount. Right here you can see it will provide eight holes with a seven inch range of adjustability to support a wide range of towing needs. The distance between those adjustment holes center to center is one inch, so it'll get you, if you put this in the highest position, it'll get you a maximum rise of five inches. If you flip it over and put it in the lowest position it'll get you a maximum drop of two inches. And these easy to root equalizer mounting pins that are included, if you notice, they have the nice large D-ring handles on here, which makes it real easy to grasp. No more fumbling with small hitch pin heads. You can just hold that. And then over here is your large safety clips. Makes it easy to put them in and remove them just like that. And you can slide your pin out. And then when you put it back in just take your clip, pop it right into place. This part is a grade 50 steel plate construction, uses cold rolled steel shank right here, provides maximum durability. All the parts are shot blasted and you can see powder coated to prevent rust. And it is a very easy installation, which you'll want to do. Again, it'll come with instructions, but just briefly you can measure your weight distribution hitch head and the air equalizer will fit heads that have a two and a half inch center to center measurement. So that'll be these two holes right here center to center. If you happen to have a weight distribution hitch head with a three and three quarter inch center to center bolt pattern, that'll be from here to this one. So it'll fit both those bolt hole patterns, so it will fit most major brands of weight distribution hitch heads. The channel style XR mount back here will also work with all the Shocker hitch balls and mounts, including a single ball pinto hook, drawbar, clevis mounts, and many more. Basically when you take those clips out you can take the equalizer out and then this will work with all those other parts. Inside width of the channel on that is three and three quarter inches. Again, the application two and a half inch by two and a half inch trailer hitch receivers, gross towing weight capacity, 12,000 pounds, tongue weight capacity of 1200 pounds. But that's gonna do it for the review on the Shocker Air Equalizer with the two and a half inch shank for your weight distribution.
