What's up everybody. It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna be checking out the Shocker Hitch pintle hook attachment. Now this is gonna work with the ball mounts of the XR, XRC, and Air. Let's check it out. Now, right away the pintle hook itself has a gross trailer weight rating of 20,000 pounds.
Now that's just the pintle hook, so maybe check the ball mount you have it in there and the hitch. And I would go with the lowest number. It also fits lunette rings with a three-inch diameter in the center. Looking at it the way we have it set up, it also has a built-in three inch rise, so even at the top here on our adjustable ball mount it gets up a little bit more. So if you need that, that's great.
If you don't want that, you want it to come out straight, there is another pintle hook attachment you can get that just comes out straight flat. There's no added three inches. Something to point out though, it doesn't come with its own pins. You'll have to pick those up separately or use the one that you use for your existing accessories. I'd recommend looking at InfiniteRule for some locking hitch pins so you can put 'em in here on the sides and one in the hitch and lock it all up.
That way nobody can mess with anything when you're not around. It operates really easily. Just remove the clip and the pin, then we can pull up on the lever, which allows you to lift up the top portion of the pintle hook. This is where the lunette ring's gonna set. So you would back this up to your trailer, get it here, mow the trailer down in, and then you just easily push down.
And it locks in place before you put the pin in. Just wanted to show you even without the pin, you can't just lift the top portion back up. You have to pull back on this lever, but you also have to put that pin in to keep this lever in place. Something on this side I wanted to show you was the chain that attaches the pin clip. I like that. So even if you let it go, it's not going anywhere. You don't have to worry about misplacing it, leaving it on the bumper, it just falling and you not being able to find it when you need it. So it's always gonna be attached. I like that. The whole thing is made out of a black powder coat steel, so you don't have to worry about the elements bothering it. If you leave it out onto your assembly here it's gonna be just fine. Overall, I like the fact that you can swap out accessories on the Shocker Hitch. If you have a few different trailers, I don't wanna buy a bunch of different assemblies that I have to switch out all the time. It's really easy just to pop out the accessory you need and put it in there. So if you already had the two ball set up and you have a pintle hook trailer you don't have to buy a whole new assembly. You just get this attachment, and keep using what you we're using. Well, I think that does it. Thanks for hanging out. I hope this helped..
