Video Transcript for Let’s Check Out the Extended U-Bolt Kit for Roadmaster Anti-Sway Bar

Speaker 1: Today, we're going to take a look at the extended U-bolt kit for the Roadmaster anti-sway bars. Now, these 15 and seven eighth inch long U-bolts are used to install your Roadmaster anti-sway bars to your vehicle. Now, the Roadmaster anti-sway bar kits number RM-1139-143, RM-1139-144, and the RM-1139-149 are all used in conjunction with the vehicle's factory bar and it mounts using the factory U-bolt.Some vehicles that those kits fit on, they may require these extended U-bolts. Basically, these extended length U-bolts are designed to replace your vehicle's square factory U-bolts if they're too short. These parts are made in the USA, and just to give you some dimensions on this. The usable length, which will be measured from the end here to the inside, going to be right at 15 and seven eighth inches.

The thread length, in other words how much thread is on the end of each one goes up to there, is going to be right at five and a half inches, and in the inside width is going to be right at four and a quarter inches wide. But, that should do it for the review on the extended U-bolt kit for the Roadmaster anti-sway bars.

The one suggestion I would make is regarding shipping. There are two options with the same delivery date. One is free and the other adds a cost. Any honest person would choose the free option. This went to the Post Office and I assumed it would be delivered UPS as my first order. It was returned. When I contacted Etrailer I was told to use the option with the additional cost. There is no explanation given for either option. Clear up this confusion and you would have 5 stars.

I purchased a Roadmaster sway bar kit and longer shackle bolts from E-Trailer. The sway bar came on time with free shipping! Upon closer inspection I realized I needed the longer shackle bolts. I called and found it was in stock and available in 2 days with free shipping! Their prices are very competitive and then you get excellent service. It also helps that the shipping was free at this time.

Thank you for asking. The sway bar continues to perform as expected.

I purchased these U-bolts along with the Roadmaster rear anti-sway bar upgrade. I planned to install myself, but as it turned out installation required a very large torque wrench, that I did not have. As a note, a call to a third-party U-bolt source tech support suggested that the original U-bolts should not be reused, even if they're long enough. Apparently suspension U-bolt threads are cut in a manner not intended to be retorqued.

Paula S at Roadmaster was a big help when I ordered our front and rear sway bars. She recommended these extended U-bolts and the mechanic who installed them said they were good and necessary.

I ordered the wrong U-bolts with my original order. Make sure you crawl under your coach and look before you order. I had a 50/50 shot and got it wrong. I definitely needed the longer U-bolts installing the rear sway bar on my 24000 GVW coach. The exchange with etrailer went through without a problem. Very good company to deal with. I had to pay a restocking charge but that was to be expected seeing how I made the mistake.

We haven't installed these yet, so this is more a review of etrailer's service and shipping. All I can say is these guys know their stuff and are more than happy to share their wealth of experience with you prior to purchase and after the purchase. They will not leave you hanging and wondering how, when, where-ing your purchase. They have how-to videos, knowledge base articles, and vehicle match algorithms that all help you pick and install the correct product for your vehicle. The shipping is surprisingly fast........fast fast. My confirmation email said it would be 7-8 days and the packages arrived in two days. When I complete the install I will update this review with fit and performance data. So buy with confidence!

Prior to installation of this kit my RV acted like it was going to tip over as it swayed from side to side when I made a turn or was hit by a cross-wind. Post install the drivability of my 37' RV increased by 100%.

  • Comparing Anti-Sway Bars and Axle Stabilizers for an RV on a 2014 Ford F-53 Chassis
Anti-sway bars and axle stabilizers are similar but they do different things. An anti-sway bar helps more with body roll which is that tilting side to side motion whereas an axle stabilizer helps for with the tail-wag motion. Both are going to make the RV more stable and more pleasant to drive. You can use both but if you wanted to try just one first I would recommend the anti-sway bar. For a the 2014 Ford F-53 chassis # RM-1139-143 fits RVs that are less than 34 feet long. Check to ensure...

For the front anti-sway bar on your 2018 Forest River FR3 30DS with an F-53 chassis you need the Roadmaster part # RM-1139-148. The rear anti-sway bar is the Roadmaster part # RM-1139-149. You do need to check to ensure there is enough factory u-bolt available to accommodate the factory nut, washer and 1/2" plate. • Best Suspension Upgrades For 2007 Gulf Stream Independence 22,000 GVWR on Ford Chassis
Hey Jaran, Great questions, and regarding the anti-sway bars, I definitely recommend upgrading to a larger size. When it comes to anti-sway bars on motorhomes like your Gulf Stream, bigger is definitely better. The larger the diameter of bar, the higher the roll stiffness it gives you, and that's the most important aspect of handling sway. The rear anti-sway bar is the best upgrade, followed by the front anti-sway bar, and then steering stabilizer for added control in the heavy crosswinds....

The anti-sway bar will use the weight of the axle as a brace against the chassis so that pressure to one side of the motor home is countered by the sway bar.
